Meg: Recent buys

Thank you all SO much for the sweet words about my new haircut! I’m rocking it with confidence thanks to your compliments 🙂

Every so often I will attempt to get dressed and end up hating everything I try on. This is when I know it’s either time to do laundry, or hit up the mall to jazz up my collection. Since retail always has its toes dipped into the upcoming season, fall styles have begun popping up everywhere. I had a return to make at Gap the other day, which was the perfect excuse to browse the mall.

I rarely buy full-priced items when I shop, and I was so happy to see sale signs posted in some of my favorite stores. I didn’t buy all of the below items in one trip, these are just some of my most recent purchases!

Photo 1

Thrifted Polka dot top (I paid $1 for it…and I’m proud of myself), Chambray Button up (Gap), Dark Green Skinnies (Gap), Blue button up tank (Anthropologie), Green striped top (Forever 21), and a blue knit cardigan (Gap).

Another recent purchase that I can’t get enough of…

Pssssst! is one of the best dry shampoos I have ever used. It comes in this original formula, or a formula specifically created for curly hair. Use it to freshen up bangs or to add volume during the day. I purchased my bottle at Ulta, though I’m sure it can be found other places. If you have any other dry shampoo recs, I’d love to hear them!

Have a lovely day!

Xo-Meg

Cute finds! I love the polka dots. And I have yet to try dry hair shampoo so I’m thinking I should jump on the bandwagon!

I’ve tried three: Ojon – I thought it worked okay but had a very strong baby powder/flowery scent that I didn’t care for. Also it’s very stark white. Bumble & Bumble – ridiculously overpriced. I bought the one for brown hair and it stained everything, even my skin. Total ripoff. Tre Semme – This is my favorite for the price. It has a scent but it’s not overly strong, and it’s white in color but blends in pretty well when you brush it through. You have to shake the can REALLY well before each spray or it splatters out of the nozzle.

Thank you for sharing!! This is some great info. I’ll have to give tre semme a try!

batiste dry shampoo for dark and deep brown is my favorite. I like it because it’s not white so I dont have to brush my hair when using it (i often wear my hair curly). it’s quite reasonable on amazon at $8.95 🙂

That polka dot top is lovely! I love thrift store shopping, I’ve found some real treasures recently.

I love the Batiste range of dry shampoos. They do lots of different scents now as well as for different coloured hair

i second batiste- LOVE dry shampoo! life-saver (ok, more like a “hair-saver” ;)).

When my hair was relaxed, I used the Oscar Blandi dry shampoo after my work-outs. It’s a bit more expensive, but it’s pretty gentle and it’s jasmine scented.

I have never used dry shampoo! Love your new clothes! I’m going to live by that rule- cant find anything that works to wear time for new clothes. Genius!

I love dry shampoo!!! Oscar Blandi for brunettes is my favorite 🙂 I’ve thought about trying other brands, but I just love it so much.

I love psssst! You can find it at Walgreens for around 5.99! And it works great for my straight hair!

The green striped top instantly caught my eye, and then when you said it was from Forever 21… well, no wonder! I love the store and it’s prices. 🙂 Great haul of clothes!

I picked up Psst at Ulta today in Phoenix and it was 2 for 1. Thanks for the rec! I like your lip stain rec, too.

Enjoy! They’re two of my favorite products right now.

I have found a dry shampoo made by Suave. It works well but it fairly hard to find among the Walgreen’s or CVS shelves. PSSST is my favorite……

I use dry shampoos. I like Pssst and Tressume (I think I spelled it right?) Another little tip if you have fine, straight hair and need more volume is just to use it on clean hair!! It gives you some thickness and texture 🙂

I really like Dove dry shampoo. It’s like $5 and it smells/works a lot better than some of the other more expensive ones I have tried. Plus, it doesn’t really leave much white residue that some of them tend to do. I bought Tre Semme the other day b/c they were out of Dove and was a little disappointed … I actually went to another store the next day and got the Dove.

I love the thrifted top and the one from Forever 21. I’ve never tried dry shampoo. What are some benefits?

    • Meg on August 19, 2012 at 4:02 am

If your bangs get greasy or separated during the day dry shampoo fixes that! It’ll also add some volume in between actual washes.

Big sexy hair volumizing dry shampoo is the best!!!! LOVE IT! It does leave a “product feel” but I love the texture it adds

batiste is def one of my faves! i used it when i was blonde and coudnt get enough, but when I died my hair brunette, I wasn’t a huge fan of their dry shampoo for brunettes, it kind of gave me an “ashy” color.
