Miss P is 6 months old!

 Happy half-birthday to you,

happy half-birthday to you,

happy half-birthday, Miss Penelope Rose,

happy half-birthday to you.”

6 months 3

This little love bug, who fills our world with so much extra laughter and love, is already half a year old! I can’t even believe it.

It’s funny because as much as I love seeing the girls grow, learn, and share more of their unique personalities, I can’t help but wish that time would just slow to heck down. I watched this video and cried my eyes out. Because as amazing as i allt is, and even though I love the girls more every single day, it goes by so quickly. I find myself taking extra time to savor the little moments I know I’ll one day miss, even when things feel a bit hectic and crazy. I’ll close my eyes and fully listen to P’s soft baby snores, I’ll peek into Liv’s room to watch her sleep, and I’ll try to mentally  imprint the scenes when Liv is sweetly talking to P, singing her songs, or showing her toys. I feel so very lucky to have these two.

When P was a tiny baby and the reflux was at its peak, we set up a list of milestones for us to achieve. I think it helped to know that it always gets easier, and we knew things would be remarkably different at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months and a year. Here we are, already halfway through the year!

Since the reflux is pretty much gone, we’ve been able to really see how Miss P is when she’s feeling well. She is an amazing, bright little star. Everyone comments on how happy she is, and it’s so true.

Some things about 6 months:

-We started solid foods! We ventured into it a few weeks ago, and I tried single foods at a time just to make sure she wouldn’t have a reaction. Then, we went on vacation to Tucson. I was planning on buying pouches at Target since I didn’t want to pack all of the gear with us to make her own food. (Also, the hotel didn’t have a freezer or microwave so it would have been a bust anyway.) The Target didn’t have any of the single food pouches, so we ended up giving her a mix of things and thankfully, she didn’t react. So now she’s had sweet potato (her favorite), oatmeal, pumpkin, banana, spinach, pears, green beans, and prunes. I’m going to start to make her some of Liv’s old favorites from this post and this post!

Oats for miss p

-Miss P has two teeth! She’s been teething for quite a while, and Tom discovered tooth #1 a few weeks ago. Its friend popped up the next day. I’m excited to see which ones are out next.

-She is obsessed with the dogs. Caroline knows to keep her distance, but Bella gets close enough to let P reach out for a handful of fur. I quickly release her little grip, and sweet Bell walks away like nothing happened.

-Even though footie pajamas are way easier, I’m determined to use up as many of Liv’s old clothes as possible. I busted out the 6-12 month clothes and was shocked with how many still had tags on.

W miss rose

-P isn’t crawling yet, but she’s close. She’ll get on all fours and rock forward and backwards, and has mastered “the skydiver” (lying on her belly to “swim” her arms and legs quickly) and slithering like a snake until she can reach what she’s after.

-She’s also started to repeat sounds. Her favorite? The fake cough.

Some of our favorite things at 6 months:

The Wee Sprout baby food storage (I’ll freeze them in this, then pop them out into resealable bags and store in the freezer)

Honest company diapers, bottom wash, and wipes (we’ve been doing the diaper bundle since P was a newborn and I wish we would have done it with Liv)

This teether

Tag dolls

Rolling around in the pack n’ play (I have one set up in the den so she can stretch out and play with toys for a little while)

Babysitter balance aka how I cook breakfast and get all of us dressed in the am

The Ergo! Liv wasn’t a huge fan (she preferred the Babyhawk and it fit me better with her in it) but the structure of the Ergo has been perfect

Happy happy half-birthday, sweet girl. Can’t wait to see you grow in the next 6 months.

xoxo

Very very beautiful little girls! I love that Liv is so sweet with P – I’m sure they’ll grow up to be great friends! Had to smile about Bella – it’s amazing sometimes what dogs and cats will tolerate from little people!
