My hero, the pilot

Hey everyone! TGIAF!!!!!! Hope your day is off to a good start 😀

Spin and Zumba last night were intense. I still can’t believe I taught 3 classes yesterday with no AC. It’s a little –very- strange (maybe it’s the Arizona girl in me) but it feels nice in there when the AC doesn’t work. Being covered in a pool of sweat feels goooooooood 😉

After Zumba, Jeni and I were starving (of course!) so just the two of us went to Indian last night.

I didn’t have my memory stick in the camera –I had forgotten it in my laptop- but I didn’t get anything you haven’t seen before.

Oh Indian food, how I love thee. I’m hoping the girls and I can do our cooking class with the owner soon, because I would LOVE to make it at home. I’ve tried, but it just doesn’t taste the same :/

After Indian, I came back to the puppies and fell asleep on the couch watching Mrs. Doubtfire. Does anyone else LOVE that movie? My brother and I used to watch it over and over when we were younger—it makes me nostalgic 😉

When the pilot got home, HE FIXED THE JUICER!!!!! My hero 😀 He just put a paper towel inside and got out a mallet and pounded the pokey-thing out. Easy peasy. I felt like a giant goober for getting it stuck in there, but Mr. Smart Pilot man saved the day 😉

This morning, I walked the puppies for about an hour because the weather was BEAUTIFUL! It was cloudy and cool and since we haven’t walked the past two days because I’ve been working, I felt I owed them a longer excursion today.

They’re exhausted and will be well-behaved for the next 24 hours:

006

I made an amazing green juice with using some of the leftover fruit from yesterday’s juice disaster.

002

It had 1.5 green apples, 1/2 pear, 1/2 cucumber, handful parsley, 1 kale leaf, 1/2 lemon (rind and all). Delicious!

For the rest of my b-fast, I did a little variation of the vanilla chia pudding that I’ve been enjoying lately—I added cinnamon and 1 tbs raw cocoa powder (from One Lucky Duck)

Chocolate Chia Pudding

003

Topped with a sliced nanner and hefty blob o’ raw almond butter:

004

A-freaking-mazing 😀

I intentionally didn’t schedule any training appointments for today so I could take care of some stuff, like cleaning this casa and floating in my raft at the pool 😉 Then gym time with Jeni, dinner and a movie with the girls 😀 It’s gonna be a good day.

Also, I’ve got to buy plane tickets for Tucson! Last time I checked, they were $400 so I’m hoping I can get a better deal :/ I miss my familia.

Do you live near your family, or far away like I do?? I’m very lucky to have my aunt and cousins in Orlando, but everyone else is in AZ.

Well, I’m off!!! Hope you have a wonderful day and I’ll see ya tonight after The Proposal.

Take care,

G

Mrs. Doubtfire is one of my fave movies of all-time – people make fun of me, but me and my sisters watched it all the time growing up.

Jungle red…it is my favorite colour – oh Go bless you 😉

  2. Fitnessista on July 9, 2009 at 11:00 am

    holly- LOL
you know i'm feeling fabulous because i met this beautiful cuban, every night is like the bay of pigs

  3. HangryPants on July 9, 2009 at 11:05 am

Yay pilot! I live within driving distance from my family so I can go up for the weekend and stuff like that. For my family, it's far away because everyone else is within an hour of each other.

  4. Danielle C. on July 9, 2009 at 11:06 am

Yay for a fixed juicer! Mrs. Doubtfire was definitely one of my favorite movies as a kid, if I catch it on tv I will sit and watch it now. 😉

  5. allijag on July 9, 2009 at 11:06 am

As soon as I read the title – I knew the Pilot had gotten the juicer unstuck! 🙂

I love sweet, tired out puppies! 😉

Mmmm Indian food! I can't wait to hear how your indian cooking class goes! That would be so awesome!

Sounds like a fabulous day you have planned…enjoy it!!

  7. Mandy on July 9, 2009 at 11:08 am

LOVE Mrs. Doubtfire! 🙂 I always watch it when it's on TV 🙂 Same with Overboard with Goldie Hawn… I can't pass it up when it's on.. haha

I live in nashville… but grew up in Orlando. I'm the oldest of four kids and all the kiddos still live in Florida, which is so hard! It's still about a 10-12 hour drive for me and with working full time… it's hard to get back and forth to see the family!

I do have some family in Georgia… my dad is driving to visit his family there this weekend, so I'm heading down there Saturday.. much easier when it's only a three hour drive!

  8. VeggieGirl on July 9, 2009 at 11:09 am

You are SO hardcore for teaching THREE CLASSES without AC – I'd die, hahaha 😀

The Pilot saved the day with the juicer!! Hooray for his skills.

Hell yes for the Tucson tickets!!! It's getting closer 😉

  9. carolinebee on July 9, 2009 at 11:10 am

So glad your juicer is fully functional again! And love your Indian food pics – as well as Mrs. Doubtfire! Soooo cute. My sister lives close, but my family is all N.C., Texas or Alabama (while i'm in GA). Hope you love the Proposal – I did!

  22. cassi rash on July 9, 2009 at 12:18 pm

That pudding looks so good! I haven't walked my puppy in a couple of days either due to the heat. He is SO hyper when I don't!

  23. Haleigh on July 9, 2009 at 12:26 pm

Mrs. Doubtfire used to be one of my favorite movies as a kid too! My mom would get sick of seeing it all the time because my brother and I watched it so much.

The chia pudding looks soo good!!

  24. MarathonVal on July 9, 2009 at 12:27 pm

I have no idea how you can set foot in a gym with no A/C, let alone teach THREE classes!! What a rockstar!

  25. jenna on July 9, 2009 at 12:35 pm

your chocolate chia pudding looks amazing!!

  26. Sarah (LovIN My Tummy) on July 9, 2009 at 12:36 pm

"It was a drive by fruiting!"
"Make a peencher, make a peencher!"

I love that movie. As disturbing as Robin Williams in drag is.

Your pilot is awesome! Can he come fix my blender?

    Have a great day, Gina!

  27. Nerd Girl on July 9, 2009 at 12:52 pm

i loveee mrs. doubtfire..it's funny to watch it now and realize the humor that you never understood when you were a little kid. some of its pretty vulgar haha

  28. Stacy on July 9, 2009 at 1:12 pm

Oh man, I'm absolutely addicted to that movie! I watch it everytime it is on tbs or tnt. It is nice to someone shares my love, the BF makes ridiculous fun of me for watching it so much!

  29. Katie on July 9, 2009 at 1:14 pm

Yea for the pilot fixing the juicer!!

I love Mrs. Doubtfire too!! "Its a drive by fruiting!!" Ha ha!

So glad that you're going to go see your family! My family lives in Nashville (where I lived my first 22.5 years) and I now live in Central VA. We're about 8 hours apart and I miss them like crazy!!

  30. Ada on July 9, 2009 at 1:26 pm

Wow I'm impressed that you are able to workout without an AC, let alone ENJOY it! I have such fond memories of watching Mrs.Doubtfire has a kid too, it is SUCH a good movie:)

  31. Krista on July 9, 2009 at 1:34 pm

I found a chia pudding reipe and LOVED it! Thanks for posting about the one you've been eating…it inspired me for sure!

My family is all in the same city as me. Sometimes that's not so gret, either… 😉

  32. L. Simone on July 9, 2009 at 1:39 pm

Ugh, tell me about it. Plane tickets are SO expensive! My parents live in Tucson, AZ too (I am in school in NYC and they moved to retire there) and while I have grown allergic to the air in AZ (there is a certain mold in the air that doesn't agree with my body according to my allergist which makes me break out in a rash every 5 minutes when I visit), my parents still try to fly out and stay with me here in the city. If you think it is a fortune for one, try two tickets! Why can't air travel just be cheap and easy?!

PS: I added you to my blogroll!! 🙂

  33. Andrea of Care to Eat on July 9, 2009 at 1:57 pm

    Go Pilot!
You're lucky you can fly home so much. I only get back to Texas once a year – twice if I'm lucky 🙁 Not like I want to actually GO to Texas, but that's where the 'rents are!
I need to try that chia seed pudding, stat!

  34. heartswholefoods on July 9, 2009 at 2:03 pm

Yay for pilot for fixing the juicer!!

Love the addition of chocolate to the chia pudding 🙂

I live with all my relatives around–people think I have a massively large family. I don't really, it's just that they're all here!

  35. Pearl on July 9, 2009 at 2:45 pm

    yum!

  36. Laura on July 9, 2009 at 3:00 pm

My entire family (besides my bro in Atlanta) is in Maryland and Virginia, so we're all within a few hours drive of each other. Now that my grandparents are getting into their 80s, I've come to really appreciate that I got to see them so often.

    I love Mrs. Doubtfire! 🙂

  37. Katie on July 9, 2009 at 3:09 pm

I wish my pup could make it on an hour walk, but she needs some conditioning first. We did 30 minutes yesterday and she kept trying to lay down. LOL

I live an hour from my parents. Sometimes that feels too close and sometimes it feels too far away. My aunts, uncles and cousins are scattered across the country.

  38. shelby on July 9, 2009 at 3:47 pm

    That pudding looks AMAZING! YUM!!

  39. elise on July 9, 2009 at 4:19 pm

hahaha…thats the kind of thing that would win my heart over too. well done pilot 🙂

  40. Normal Gal on July 9, 2009 at 6:15 pm

Three classes! Yikes. Way to go trooper!

  41. ered on July 9, 2009 at 6:17 pm

Alright, Ms Gina, I've been reading your blog for a week and I figure it's high time to say thank you! I really appreciate the frequency of your posts (I enjoy reading when I wake up at 5 am and can't get back to sleep) as well as the content. You've got lots of good ideas and methods, and it's helpful to see someone else who's modifying things to fit her own tastes as well as her husbands. Although, apparently, I need to get me a crockpot!

  42. Lexie on July 9, 2009 at 6:42 pm

I have never eaten at an Indian restaurant, but after seeing your delicious food makes me want to find one in my area!

  43. Laura J. on July 9, 2009 at 7:23 pm

I gotta agree w/ VeggieGirl–you are so badass teaching THREE classes w/o AC. Get it girl!

I live 10 hours from my family (I'm from VA, but after I got married we moved to the dull gray tundra that is Michigan) so I feel ya on missing family! Hopefully you get lucky and find some cheaper tickets!

Ever since I've started reading your blog I've been dying to try this glorious Indian food you rave about! One of these days! 🙂

Have fun tonight! I just saw The Proposal a few days ago and it was supercute 🙂

  44. Erica on July 9, 2009 at 7:51 pm

Hey hey. We take 95 but I think we need to meet up! We should find something half way between us and just meet for dinner one night!!

  45. Lauren on July 9, 2009 at 8:48 pm

What a sweet hubby you have. I love it when they put their "fix-it" qualities to good use. And, not to mention, it's totally hot when the hubby saves the day with his handy skills, isn't it?!?!

Sounds like a fabulous Indian dinner and time with friends.

Hope you are having a wonderful week girl and thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!

  46. runjen on July 9, 2009 at 9:20 pm

Does Southwest fly into Tuscon? If so, that is definitely probably going to be cheaper. Check them out.
I love Mrs. Doubtfire too! ha!

  47. Runningbetty on July 9, 2009 at 10:10 pm

did you see the owner of one lucky duck in Ladies Who Launch this week? http://www.ladieswholaunch.com/magazine/sarma-melngailis/3364

  48. Fitnessista on July 9, 2009 at 11:48 pm

l.simone- seriously, flying is so expensive!! it's even more annoying knowing that renting a plane would almost be less expensive and have the pilot fly it. bah.

ered- thanks so much for saying hi! 😀 you do need a slow cooker- it makes life so much easier!

runningbetty- yes, i saw that earlier today! what a great article 😀 she really is amazing
