Nice to Seasons again

Hi friends! How’s the day going? Hope you’re having a lovely morning. A little later posting today; I’ve been trying to figure out how to fix something I screwed up on the blog yesterday. I was editing the menus (up top) so the recipe links will show an image and paragraph, and in the process, totally messed up the Family page. Derp. The link is here if you are looking for it! Hopefully I’ll have it back in action soon.

Last night, the Pilot and I had a date night! We decided to go back to one of our favorite restaurants ever: Seasons52.

On a date

We used to go to Seasons allll time in Orlando, and totally forgot we have two here in San Diego. (We’re still kind of in restaurant overwhelm; there are so many new and delicious places for us to try!) Seasons52 bases their menus off what’s fresh and in season, and nothing on the menu is more than 475 calories. The restaurant is proof that “healthy” doesn’t have to equal “bland” — everything is boldly flavored, beautifully-plated, and absolutely delicious.

We started off with the lobster-stuffed mushrooms,

(I also enjoyed some of the Pilot’s dinner salad)

and for my entree, I chose the salmon salad. The greens are artfully placed in a cylinder, which they gently lift upon serving the salad. It makes the salad super fluffy, and I love that Seasons isn’t stingy with their dressing.

Salmon salad

The wine list at Seasons52 is also amazing, as it’s curated by one of the few Master Sommeliers in the world. I chose a glass of Sangiovese, which has become one of my favorite reds.

The best part: THE DESSERT. They bring around a tray of mini indulgences, ranging from fresh fruit to cake and pie (YES). The server takes out a tini flashlight to illuminate each one as he/she describes the dessert, and this is where the Pilot and I are notorious for saying, “we’ll just take the whole tray.” 😉 I enjoyed the pecan pie and the peanut butter chocolate cake, and the Pilot took the caramel macchiato, the raspberry cheesecake cannoli thing and the key lime pie.

Mini desserts

After dinner, we walked around Headquarters, which is a really cool area downtown with lots of boutiques, restaurants, dessert spots, and chocolate shop and a cheese shop (WHAT). We looked around Kitson for a while, and thought it would be fun to start a funky coffee table book collection, starting with this one.

Film in five seconds

Can you guess the movie??

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day! See ya later this afternoon. 🙂

I have heard of Seasons 52, but have never lived near one so I haven’t been able to check it out. The desserts look kind of amazing. 🙂 That’s awesome you got out for a mid-week date night. Have a great Wednesday!

I’ve heard of Seasons52 but have never been. I love the idea of seasonal healthy food. Everything you ordered looks delicious. I need to see if there is one around us.

We love seasons 52, however I’m NOT a fan of their desserts (shocker, I know). They’re wayyyyy to sweet for me. Also, we’ve never been to the location at the headquarters. Can’t wait for our family to visit again (and babysit, haha), it’s been too long since we had a date night…

    • Fitnessista on February 4, 2015 at 10:15 am

it’s funny, that’s what we said last night! i think they tasted EXTRA sweet since we haven’t had sugar in so long. we were like, whoa!

I used to live in Orlando and I loved Seasons 52! Way to order 2 desserts- they’re delicious but SO tiny, so 2 are necessary 🙂

  9. Ashley @ A Lady Goes West on February 4, 2015 at 10:22 am

I love Seasons 52 as well. Did you used to live in Orlando? I lived there for several years up until I moved to San Francisco.

Seasons 52 was one of my favorites when I lived in Orlando too. I actually had my rehearsal dinner there for our wedding. That’s how much I love it. The desserts really are the best!

Those small servings of dessert are pure genius! I can never choose what to get so a little but if everything would be perfect for me!

  12. Chelsea@TableForOne on February 4, 2015 at 10:59 am

Wow! That looks so delicious. I love indulging on healthier restaurant creations that are full of flavor and seasonal ingredients. I want to move to San Diego just to eat there!

Seasons52 is amazing!!! My husband and I used to go to the one in Tyson’s Corner when we lived in DC. I absolutely love their seasonal vegetarian sampler plate. They also go all out if you are going there for anniversaries or birthdays!

Seasons 52 is one of my favorite restaurants ever!! I went there with my mom over Christmas break in Orlando, and we were thoroughly impressed. The desserts are indeed the best part, and I totally admire y’all for ordering the whole tray— that’s the way to do it. 🙂

  17. Emma @ Life's A Runner on February 4, 2015 at 12:11 pm

Ever since we were brought a dessert trio at New Years Brunch, I’ve been totally hooked on the mini-dessert thing. I never want to eat a whole slice of cake anyway, so having bites of a bunch of different things is so much more satisfying! Although right now all I really want are those lobster-stuffed mushrooms. Yummmm.

  18. Ash Bear on February 4, 2015 at 12:45 pm

I’d never have guessed that movie but what a fun coffee table book!?

  21. Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious on February 4, 2015 at 1:26 pm

Seasons 52 is incredible! I love that place and haven’t been there in forever. The mini deserts are the best part.

  22. Britt@MyOwnBalance on February 4, 2015 at 2:05 pm

Seasons sounds amazing! I love restaurants that make a point to be healthy and delicious. I hope more restaurants get on board with that concept.

I would have never guessed Grease in a million years, but I went to the website and the other ones are really fun!
I love Seasons 52! Having everything on the menu under a certain calorie count is such an awesome idea for a restaurant! I’m always skeptical too because the food is so good 🙂

  24. milania dela cruz on February 4, 2015 at 3:19 pm

I LOVE SEASON’S SO MUCH!!!! ESP THE DESSERT AND WINE LIST!!!

We actually went to Season 52 (in Orlando) last Friday. Ah, love it!! It was only our second time there, but we luckily got to bring out friends who hadn’t been yet and I think they’re sold on it now too. Awesome place for a date night and totally love the wine menu, too!
