Noodle house and noodle legs

Hiiii 🙂 Hope you had a great weekend and a happy Cuatro de Mayo. I spent most of it in BodyPump training -I’ll post a full recap in the next couple of days!- but still got to enjoy some time with my little fam. Liv and I had a pizza party on the patio when I got home yesterday, and Friday night, the Pilot and I had our first date night since we got here. It was AMAZING.

We were lucky to have the family and our usual babysitter in Tucson; it was a little daunting to try and find someone to help out for occasional date nights here in San Diego. I interviewed a couple of sitters and didn’t get the warm fuzzies, so we waited to book someone. Our friends recommended a sitter that they’re used quite a few times, and she’s absolutely wonderful. The Pilot and I had a great evening together with margaritas and a glorious OB Noodle House dinner. If you ever come to Ocean Beach, it is a must-try. They’ve been featured on Food Network, so you’ll wait an hour to sit at the bar, but it is totally worth it. Their pho is pho-nomenal <— can’t help it 😉 Also, the bartender had homemade fudge in a Tupperware container that he passed out to the bar to enjoy after our meals. Just sayin.

Pho is one of my favorite dishes! My mother in-law just made some yesterday and it was so delicious!

Those turkey burgers looks so good! I haven’t made turkey burgers in a while and have been craving for them!

Your little girl is just beautiful!!! Her spunky personality and bright eyes remind me of my little one. I think they would be best friends together, singing princess songs and twirling around. She just turned two and has already changed her name to Repunzel, I love it!

if she changed her name to rapunzel, i KNOW they would be best buds 🙂

Love the last pic, where you and the Pilot are looking a little to the left whereas your girl knows exactly how to pose for the pic, eyes perfectly trained on her audience!! What a gorgeous family pic, ours always end up with someone not looking at all, someone pulling a face, eyes closed, finger up nose (mostly the 2-year-old). You guys have it nailed! Gorgeous xx

No cell phones is about the best rule ever! I don’t know how people get any type of workout done with texting people and calling them!

    • Fitnessista on May 5, 2014 at 10:59 am

i loved that, too. she was like “you can use it during the breaks, but other than that, put it away”

Where will you be teaching Bodypump in SD? I can’t believe you’re in my city and teaching my favorite classes! So cool.

    • Fitnessista on May 5, 2014 at 11:10 am

yep! i have two months to team teach and send in my video, so in the meantime i’ll ask my gym if i can start team-teaching or subbing 🙂
send me an email and let me know where you work out! 🙂

Couldn’t help but notice the suja juice. Does this mean you’re running the San Diego R&R Half? 🙂 Some other bloggers who are running it are being sponsored by them.

Looks like you had a great weekend. We’re about to make the move to big boy bed also. I’m excited….and a little (okay A LOT) worried about it. Hopefully Liv adjusts to the change smoothly.

3 cheers for mom/husband date night AND daddy/daughter date!! Glad you found a trustworthy sitter…word of mouth is the way to go!

    Happy Cinco de Mayo!!

  17. Stephanie @ Whole Health Dork on May 5, 2014 at 2:01 pm

Did you end up getting a big girl bed? So cute!
If I had a dog, I would totally check out an agility class. Sounds like a fun workout for dog and owner and good way to bond more.

  18. Amie on May 5, 2014 at 9:27 pm

So, my son is almost 2 and we do NOT have a sitter!! How do you interview a sitter? What questions do you ask? Do you just invite them over and watch how they interact with your little one? Would LOVE to get a date night in soon!!

    • Fitnessista on May 6, 2014 at 12:11 am

oh man. finding help makes a huge difference and it’s nice to go out for occasional date nights. the best part is that liv is usually sleeping, so she has no idea we left 🙂
to find a new sitter, i booked an hour to “interview” them and see how they interacted with liv. i paid for them to come for an hour and just chatted for a little while to get a vibe and see how liv reacted to them. (with our sitter in tucson, liv hugged her within a couple minutes of meeting her so i knew she was a keeper!) i feel like your gut will tell you when you find the right fit. i usually ask questions like where they’re from, what they’re studying in school, how long they’ve babysat, what ages, etc.

  19. Jenn@Mark My Miles! on May 6, 2014 at 2:53 pm

My husband and I are interviewing sitters and we have met some interesting people to say the least…lol. Being a military family ourselves, we don’t’ have the luxury to live near family and are trying to find someone we like and whom our little man likes too. So glad that you found someone!!!

    • Fitnessista on May 6, 2014 at 6:22 pm

thank you! hope you find a good one soon, too!
