Oh hey, fall

I don’t know what’s happening here in Tucson, but it can stay.

Weather

Lately, it’s been perfectly cool and cloudy. So gorgeous that Miss Bell has been walked every single day. I look forward to our evening walks with the fam, but when it’s too hot, it’s less likely to happen.

Fam walk

(Babywearing is hot)

Also in the spirit of fall: pumpkin spice latte!

Psl

(a venti because someone is crawling ALL over the place and trying to walk- chasing takes a lot of energy)

This morning’s breakfast was a classic:

Bfast

(2 eggs over hard + a tamale and coffee)

snack:

Snacks

At first I was really dainty with my snack, gently smearing a layer on top of each one…

Berries

That ended up being a handful of berries in my mouth followed by a spoonful of almond butter. Same thing 😉

Time to grab this afternoon’s outfits, finish lunch and update my Zumba playlist.

Hope everyone is having a happy weekend!

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: What makes you think of fall? Is it already cooling down where you are?

Something to do: AB BURNER! A lovely little burn before going out tonight, or crawling into bed 🙂 Please let me know if you have any 5-minute workout requests for next week!

A note: It’s been brought to my attention that some less-than-desirable ads were showing up on my site. While this blog helps me support my family, it will never become a blogmercial or at the cost of my beliefs. I frequently decline product review and sponsored posts (even paid trips) if I don’t believe in the company’s mission, and I don’t see why that should be any different with the ads that pop up on my site. I didn’t know I was able to do this until this morning, but I went in and blocked fast food companies and all restaurants from housing ads on my site (which are steamed in through an ad network). <3

I just wanted to say that when I was buying 4 months worth of groceries for our big move to an island in the middle of nowhere, Alaska, you inspired me to get a bottle of Cholula! Hubs and I absolutely love it, and it really helps to spice up our meals. Thank you!

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 3:58 pm

      yeahhhhh! LOVE cholula 🙂

  2. Leslie W on September 8, 2012 at 4:04 pm

Southeast Texas is pretty much the armpit of America. Super humid and hot. We are *supposed* to cool down today. I have been sticking my head out each hour in anticipation. The pumpkin spice latte will happen soon when I get a hankerin’ for it after the cool front. And, yes, Cholula is one of the few things I can find here that you eat! lol If we got a Trader Joe’s, I’d be in HEAVEN. But, we are getting a big multi-floor HEB I hear. EEEEEE! 😀

    • China on September 8, 2012 at 4:11 pm

I feel you. I live near San Antonio, and yesterday it was 104. UGH. On the plus side, our Trader Joe’s opens next month, and I cannot freakin’ wait!! I miss it so much from my days in ATL.

    • simi on September 8, 2012 at 10:31 pm

Where in Southeast TX are you in? I’m in Houston and there’s a Trader Joe’s here… 2 more are opening in Sept and Nov! 🙂 I’m from Cali and lived half a mile from TJ’s it was sooooo hard being away from them, but now they will be here and my life will be complete!!! 🙂
      cool front is here!!

  3. Laura @ She Eats Well on September 8, 2012 at 4:06 pm

Ha, I think you have control with the Almond Butter. Lately I’ve been just taking a big ole spoonful and adding chocolate chips to it. It’s delicious…sinful! ha!

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 4:10 pm

i do that all the time, too haha. i pour the chocolate chips in the jar and then “find them” with the spoon 😉

  4. Kaila @healthyhelperblog! on September 8, 2012 at 4:07 pm

I applaud you for filtering your ads and making sure your blogs message is preserved even in regards to whats being displayed in the ads!

  5. Krystina on September 8, 2012 at 4:15 pm

How cute are Olivia’s little chubby legs?

I had my first PSL of the season last week and, after seeing your post, am jonesing for another one. Must make a trek to ‘bucks!

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 4:20 pm

i’m obsessed with them- they’re so cute
i already want another one too 🙂

      • Beth on September 8, 2012 at 9:04 pm

        Another latte or another baby?

        🙂

        • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 10:36 pm

          both 😉

  6. Laura J. on September 8, 2012 at 4:30 pm

I got my first pumpkin spice latte last week and it was glorious. Fall doesn’t officially “start” until the pumpkin spice latte hits Starbucks 😉

  7. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on September 8, 2012 at 4:50 pm

Omg that pic of the pilot carrying Livi on his back is swoon worthy. SO adorable!

Also, do you have a link to the new daily buzz featured publisher access? I tried using the foodbuzz one and it isn’t letting me log in.

  8. Averie @ Averie Cooks on September 8, 2012 at 4:54 pm

I love the shot of Daddy and Liv – so cute in her Ergo. And yes, the crawling/pre-walking stage is exhausting…enjoy the venti 🙂

  9. Sarabell on September 8, 2012 at 4:57 pm

I didn’t know you could block ads! I use Google AdSense so I’ll have to see if I can block them on there. I know there is a way to specifically choose some but I can’t seem to make that work.

  10. Becky @ TheBexFactor.com on September 8, 2012 at 4:57 pm

I think as soon as the calendar hit September it immediately turned to fall up here in Alberta. The leaves have been changing, it’s getting very chilly at night and pumpkin stuff is popping up everywhere. I hate seeing summer go, but I can’t deny my love for fall. I just wish winter would never come, it’s far too cold and snowy here 🙁

  11. Laurie M. on September 8, 2012 at 5:00 pm

Nothing makes me happier in September than the return of the pumpkin spice latte but I was wondering if you make any adjustments to yours? In the last year I have stopped consuming dairy but I avoid processed soy at all costs as well as artifficial sweeteners. I’d rather have real sugar every once and a while than the fake stuff, but what do you do in the way of milk?
By the way, thank you for all of your wonderful inspiration, this blog is a huge bright spot in my day and incredible motivation!
    Happy fall!!

  12. Danielle@cleanfoodcreativefitness on September 8, 2012 at 5:06 pm

Anything pumpkin always reminds me of fall! I had my first pumpkin coffee of the season today and it made me so happy!

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 10:39 pm

ahhhh i love pumpkin coffee SO much

  13. AshleyC on September 8, 2012 at 5:14 pm

I made a trip to the greenhouse, got some Asters and Decorative Kale for my front steps….got it all potted this morning while the kids played in their overalls “in the dirt”. Can’t wait for pumpkins next! Fall is just around the corner…I’ve got a 3 mo. old and I felt like I hit paydirt all over again while pulling tags off of the adorable fall clothes we received when she was born. They’re drying now! Dressing a girl is WAY different than dressing my two boys….So much fun!

  14. Alex @ Healthy Life Happy Wife on September 8, 2012 at 5:25 pm

Love fall & so excited for the cooler weather! & boots!! 🙂

  15. Katie on September 8, 2012 at 6:00 pm

I saw pumpkins while shopping last night. Pumpkins mean fall for me.
I love this ab burner! So easy to add at the end of a workout or before bed.
A five minute tricep or 5 minute physique like leg burner would be great.
    would be great.

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 10:38 pm

      sounds good! xoxo

  16. Julie on September 8, 2012 at 6:13 pm

Just wanted to let you know there is a really good looking Wendy’s bacon cheeseburger ad on this post. Didn’t want you to think it was fixed since it is still there 🙁

  17. Courtney on September 8, 2012 at 6:28 pm

So awesome that you can block ads. I just wanted to let you know that on the top of this post is an ad for Wendy’s on my iPhone. Thought you’d want to know 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 7:06 pm

It might take a day or so to reflect the changes I made. Xo

  18. leah o on September 8, 2012 at 6:42 pm

after your almond butter post the other day I switched it up @ Tj’s and got the almond butter with flax seeds instead of my usual raw crunchy. I’m in love. We (and by we I mean I) ate a whole jar in a week…. the air has been feeling crisp the past few weeks here in Seattle too! So excited for soups and chili. And dark chocolate almond milk hot chocolate

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 10:38 pm

ahhh i’m glad you liked it! SO good

  19. Kelly on September 8, 2012 at 7:46 pm

Hi! I would love a 5 minute yoga/deep stretching video!

  20. Sam @ Better With Sprinkles on September 8, 2012 at 8:20 pm

It’s awesome how committed you are to your values! Getting rid of the ads that don’t support your lifestyle and your message is great. 🙂

  21. Katie on September 8, 2012 at 8:50 pm

pumpkin and apple cider make me think of fall! I miss living in PA where fall really meant FALL, I will have to wait months before breaking out cute scarves and boots here in Orlando!

  22. Stephanie on September 8, 2012 at 8:50 pm

I don’t even consider Liv’s legs chubby when compared to my little girl whose a week older than yours. 🙂 And my girl’s arms have the “bracelets” as we call them (aka the lines around the wrist that look like someone put a rubber band there). I LOVE baby chub 🙂 Oh and my girl is doing the almost crawl and while it is so exciting I have really been enjoying the current stage where I can put her down on a blanket with toys and not worry about her getting into anything. yikes….

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 10:37 pm

yeah it’s way different when they’re all over the place! she pulls herself up on anything and doesn’t understand if it’s stable enough to hold her.
and i love those rubber band arms so much

  23. Kaolee on September 8, 2012 at 8:58 pm

I’m probably a little late on this, but love the new blog look!

I’m in Georgia so it’s not getting all that much cooler. I heard it’s supposed to be cooler this weekend, but it hasn’t been yet. Maybe tomorrow.

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 10:36 pm

thank you! hope it cools down for you!

  24. Marie-Santé on September 8, 2012 at 9:11 pm

Well, I’m glad this blog can help you support your family because you obviously put efforts and heart into it. And I think we are lucky that you care so much. I look forward into reading you everyday <3

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 10:36 pm

thank you so much, marie-sante 🙂 xoxo

  25. AJ on September 8, 2012 at 9:27 pm

I got apple cider from the Farmer’s Market today, which is my signal that fall is just about here (!!!!!). I introduced my boyfriend today to the glorious combo of raspberries and almond butter (inspired by your snack) and I believe we have another AB addict on our hands! Super yummy!

  26. Briana on September 8, 2012 at 10:47 pm

Could you do a post on all your cute new workout clothes you’ve been wearing in your posts?!! I love that tye-dyeish tank! They are adorable and I need more cute outfits for motivation to hit the gym!

    • Fitnessista on September 8, 2012 at 10:50 pm

thank you! almost all of my new stuff is from a shopping rampage jeni and i did at lululemon in vegas (including that tank)
      xoxo

  27. Brenda on September 8, 2012 at 10:53 pm

Thanks for blocking fast food ads! I had my fill of them watching the Olympics. Athletes appearing in fast food ads could be an interesting/controversial topic for a blog post…

  28. Ashley on September 9, 2012 at 12:08 am

Just thought I should let you know that I just got on the blog read this post and noticed that there was a fast food ad at the top of the post just thought you should know in case there is more tweaking to do.

    • Fitnessista on September 9, 2012 at 12:48 am

thank you! it might take a day or so for the changes i made to sync up

  29. Megan on September 9, 2012 at 5:36 am

Oh goodness, I love you. I live in Phoenix and have been reading you blog for months, I don’t know why I haven’t written you sooner! I am working so hard to improve my life! I’ve switched to goat cheese, with hopes of skipping the cheese and going vegan all together! Let me tell ya, that’s tough stuff! I wanted to let you know that I love every moment of your hard work and positivity. You’re a great lady!

  30. Sonal Samtani on September 9, 2012 at 7:10 am

I’m going to take my first Zumba class on Thursday! I’m excited! 🙂 Fall feels much cooler, trees go bare and the ground is crunchy with leaves, I love it 🙂

  31. Joanne on September 9, 2012 at 7:14 am

I love how the Pilot’s short match the Ergo 🙂 I love our Ergo but haven’t tried it with my youngest son in a back carry yet. It’s so great for us as my daughter is still well within the weight limits at almost 4 years old!

My youngest son is almost walking, right as my daughter has learnt to open the safety gates! You’re right, it takes so much energy and I swear you have to have eyes in the back of your head 🙂

  32. Carrie on September 9, 2012 at 8:52 am

I *want* to love pumpkin spice lattes but the syrupy taste is so strong. any tips?

  33. Jess on September 9, 2012 at 9:20 am

Family walks are so nice! Wonderful the pilot likes them too! Cooler weather sounds nice! 🙂

  34. Laura on September 9, 2012 at 10:54 am

Every year I find myself waiting for the moment in September when the colors on the leaves finally start to change. That’s what makes me think most about “fall” time. That.. and the smell/taste of anything pumpkin. 🙂

    http://hellonheelshon.com/blogging-is-a-tricky-business/

  35. Kanoelani on September 9, 2012 at 11:03 am

It is slowly but surely cooling down. We had a ridiculous storm yesterday though… yikes LOL! I live in Alexandria, VA(outside of DC) and I love how the leaves start changing color. That’s my favorite and of course pumpkin scented everything. Love that too! I love the colors of fall too :-). My fav color is orange so I fit right in w/ fall 😀

  36. Kristi @ Hiding in Honduras on September 9, 2012 at 1:14 pm

Not sure how the ads really work but I’ve never seen a fast food ad on your site or any other site I visit. The only ads I see are google ads for places I shop (online) frequently – Old Navy, fabric stores, baby stuff, etc. I know you can’t shop fast food online but I wonder if the people seeing those ads spend more time on specific food websites.

LOOOOOVE the tamale with coffee for breakfast! One of the things I miss most about living in Latin America! I haven’t tried making my own yet b/c it’s such an all day thing. There are lots of Latinos in NC so I need to find a great tamale maker friend!!

    • Fitnessista on September 9, 2012 at 1:46 pm

i think you’re exactly right- i haven’t seen the ads either, so it must be based on browsing history
and yes, finding a good tamale maker is life-changing 🙂
      xoxo

  37. Jennifer Tu on September 9, 2012 at 4:48 pm

I just loved your 5 min ab burner. You asked for what else we might like to see. What about something for a tight back. I wouldn’t say I have back problems but since training for this 1/2 marathon (2 weeks to go), I find my muscles seem tight in (mid-high back). And I would say I am in pretty good shape. Maybe I just require a good ol’ back massage? But any 5 min would be fun!

  38. Meg on September 10, 2012 at 6:21 am

Gina! I love the look of the blog! I haven’t been able to read blogs for a week, but catching up now and I am impressed! I love it, hun!

I love fall! I am so happy you’re getting perfect weather 🙂 I love fall here in London. It’s a long season and there are so many trees, so it’s absolutely gorgeous 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2012 at 6:25 pm

      thank you so much!
      LOOOVE fall 🙂

  39. Jennifer on September 10, 2012 at 12:55 pm

Now I want a pumpkin spice iced latte! The berry and almond butter is the same thing! It is not fall here yet (florida). It is still VERY hot, but I hope it gets cooler soon! 🙂 Have a great week!

  40. Brigid on September 10, 2012 at 1:27 pm

That picture of chubby baby legs in the carrier on your adorable hubby is too much!

And here I admit that I love real pumpkin but cannot stand pumpkin-flavored things like Starbucks coffee. Apparently I’m a freak, but I’m OK with that.

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2012 at 6:21 pm

haha as long as you’re aware. i kid 🙂
and yes, i love her little leg rolls so much!

  41. Cait on September 10, 2012 at 6:59 pm

    is the psl super sweet?

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2012 at 7:00 pm

yeah the one i had last week was perfect, but the one i had yesterday hurt my teeth a little.
