Out and About with the Pilot

Hey, blog world! How are you guys?

The Pilot

As you can see from the empty spot on the couch next to me, G’s at work leaving me to hold down the casa since I’m still on leave. That sounded pretty nice until I noticed that there’s a “Lamar and Khloe” marathon on the television…time to leave (nothing against the show but with me, it registers on the level of “dude kryptonite,” and walking a little white dog around has already punched enough hits on my man card so it was time to get out of the house).

Speaking of the little devil – she joined me for the drive to grab lunch with Gina.

After a delicious meal (which I’ll let her post later), I dropped everybody off and decided to do a little cleaning and run a  few errands. Gina works hard as a fitness instructor and wife, so a smart pilot helps out when he can. Especially since she recently picked up some critical items for me…

gina with tom beer Hot wife + Cold beer = Happy Pilot 🙂

So, I wandered around Trader Joes trying to track down everything on the ol’ grocery list. I am NOT a good grocery shopper. I have no idea where anything is and I usually end up grabbing a few extra things that aren’t necessarily on the list.

Groceries

Yeah…that’s my chocolate milk and blueberry waffles next to Gina’s GF, healthier waffles. I made sure to grab something to distract from the Pilot friendly food:

pink flowers

I get her flowers, she gets me beer…that’s love, folks.

G’ll be back later tonight with a full-up post, but hopefully this works in the mean time. Can’t wait to write again with more Tucson shenanigans!

Cheers,

The Pilot

Thanks for the post, it’s always fun to read your perspective. And yes, you do have a hot wife and I would love to look fit and beautiful like her!

Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend together, and thank you for all that you do for our country. 🙂

Huh you shop like my hubby — same cereal and same blueberry waffles. He also throws in chocoalte covered pretzels and tortilla chips.

Good call on the flowers 😉

  3. Danielle on May 26, 2011 at 6:44 pm

You are such a great hubby!! Gina is one lucky girl :0)

Getting flowers just because is the best!!

  4. Desi @ Domestic Diva in Training on May 26, 2011 at 6:47 pm

You shop like my husband, although the flowers are definately a great distracting gesture. I’m sure that Gina will love them.

I really enjoy these Pilot postings. He is a pretty funny guy. Now that he is home, perhaps he will post more often?

“gina with tom beer Hot wife + Cold beer = Happy Pilot 🙂 ”

At least you have your priorities straight and head screwed on straight!

And not being a good groc shopper? My hubs is the worst, I can assure you. And so at least you try. Major credit given for that 🙂

I seriously love when you post Pilot! Very nice flowers 🙂 Gina will be happy!

  12. Michelle on May 26, 2011 at 7:48 pm

LOL. I love that the Pilot can admit that he’s clueless about grocery shopping. My friends and I talked about starting a blog that just consisted of pictures of confused men grocery shopping – there are always SO many of them!! (I usually try to help them out – there is nothing more annoying than getting a phone call from the hubby asking for “directions” on where something is in the store).

    *love* the flowers 🙂

    • Fitnessista on May 26, 2011 at 8:31 pm

that would be an awesome blog

    • Beth on May 26, 2011 at 11:42 pm

Tell me about it!!! My hubby spends the whole grocery list on the phone with me! Last time I was sitting there on the phone with him for a half hour… “second aisle, at the end closest to the front doors… ok top shelf green lid…. glass jar about 6 inches tall….. says MANGO CHUTNEY” I could’ve driven myself, shopped, and been back home in less time :p

So glad to see that the pilot arrived home safely. My pilot is preparing to be shipped off for awhile and it only makes the reuniting SO much better. It’s not always easy holding down the ol’ fort when they’re gone, but your new place makes up for it! I managed to lock myself out of the house three times in the first week he was gone and remembered my pilot was nowhere near. Let’s just say, I am learning how many locksmiths are in my area. You two have an awesome Memorial Day weekend. Thank you for your service, pilot. AND thank you Gina for taking on the life of a wife with a man in service. Behind a strong man, is a strong woman : )

  23. Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews on May 26, 2011 at 8:49 pm

    Aww so cute! Beautiful flowers.

  24. Elyse on May 26, 2011 at 8:52 pm

So this might sound crazy but the Pilot should do a post on the blog on how to “woo your woman”…I migt leave the blog up so the boyfriend *accidentally* finds it. My man is pretty good at doing stuff for me but I wouldn’t mind him learning more tricks 😛

    • Fitnessista on May 27, 2011 at 12:01 am

haha i love that idea! i’ll ask him 🙂

  25. raisin on May 26, 2011 at 9:19 pm

you did good, pilot. thank you for your service, it’s good to have you back safe and sound.

  26. Laura (On the Threshold of Greatness) on May 26, 2011 at 9:43 pm

😀 LOVED the comment about walking the little white dog. LOL, my friend has a shitzu and her husband was like, “just don’t name her something like Princess. I don’t want to walk around with a pink leash shouting, Princess!! Come on Princess!”

You and Gina seem to have an awesome team work thing going. I’m not married but I hope to have the same thing one day! But if I’m the one that wants the beer, how does that work? Gotta think of something besides flowers… 😉

Enjoy the rest of your leave!!! You deserve it.

  27. Annie@stronghealthyfit on May 26, 2011 at 9:55 pm

Now, who doesn’t love a good husband post?

  31. Chelsea on May 26, 2011 at 11:22 pm

This pilot post just totally uped my love for your site (I didn’t know that was possilbe)! It’s obvious that your similar sense of humor and great personailties are one big part of what makes you guys work! Cherish That! I’d love to have you come “visit” my site sometime, i’m just starting out and visitors are far and few between.

  38. Elyse on May 27, 2011 at 11:04 am

I love this post! It made me smile.. and miss my own boyfriend a lot 🙁 We’re doing long distance while I’m on an 8 month co-op work term for school. It sucks but we’re making it cuz he’s a “little things” kinda guy. I can see you guys are truly in love because you got the little things down – flowers, the post, the groceries, and still telling your wife she’s hot 😉 You guys are my favorite lol 🙂

  39. Ashley @ the fit academic on May 27, 2011 at 11:21 am

Love Love Love this post! Really shows the pilots personality! Love the line about the man card taking a few hits from walking the little white dog around (baby Bella!) – Literally laughed out loud! Not that we don’t miss you, G, but it’s so fun to have Pilot guest posts, I just love it!!!
