Personal Chef

Hey guys Smile How’s your weekend going?? Mine has been pretty bueno.

The weather is so beautiful right now– it blows my mind.

The puppers and I went for a long walk at the park to enjoy the fall weather and stretch their little legs. I feel like a dog-walking slacker since I’ve been working so much lately.

(Black eyed peas and brown rice bowl with salad greens and hot sauce)

She’s a pretty good cook, and I like that she usually makes my meal in 5 minutes. It’s quite lovely <3

Well I’m off to do the work thang and hit up Starbucks on the way. After work, we’ll have some dinner – Amy isn’t cooking Winking smile

Have a wonderful Saturday!

xoxo,

Gina

Do you have a “personal chef”?

PS. I may possibly be running a 5k tomorrow…. my first race since the half marathon in MARCH. Me <— a lil nervous, but I’m gonna do it for fun and to support a good cause.

Good luck at the 5K tomorrow — I know you’ll do great 🙂 I ran a 10 mile race 2 weekends ago and I hadn’t ran more than three times since July – and I survived to tell the tale!

My personal chef’s name is Chip Otle.

Ha! When work is all too-too much, I get the lovely Lulu, my local supermarket, to sling some fresh Tabbouleh and fattoush salad my way. One of the ( few) benefits of a life in the middle of the Arabian desert…
Gina – can you possibly send me the link for the post you did some time ago on over-training and wrecking the metabolism?
Thanks so much and happy running!

I think I figured out where you work. I was just on a certain website looking at cute hoodies that you wear a lot, and saw a bunch of stuff about goal setting, etc. 🙂 This company fits you very well! (If I’m right about where you work!)

I love Amy’s! It’s my go-to for quick, healthy meals. Have you tried her soups? Also really good.

  5. Moni'sMeals on October 16, 2010 at 11:24 am

I have to try that butterfinger trick. 🙂 You will do great if you end up running! Nerves are half the battle right!
As far as a Personal Chef,(besides actually being one myself part-time) I will have to agree with AMY’s and Whole Foods to-go. 🙂
    Have a great Sat.

Good luck in the 5k!! Amy’s is definitely the best personal chef out there 🙂

  7. Leanne @ Simplicitlee on October 16, 2010 at 12:05 pm

    I don’t have a personal chef… I wish!

I have found though that after a year & a couple months of living with my fiance, I’m so much more confident in my cooking skills then I used to be. It’s nice!

  8. Christine on October 16, 2010 at 12:14 pm

Amy has visited me a few times to cook for me too! Lately though, I’ve had more by the Kashi folks.

Usually, however, I am my own personal chef–that’s okay though–because I tend to know what I like!

  9. Mary @ Bites and Bliss on October 16, 2010 at 12:22 pm

Butterfinger AND cookie dough?!! Oh my, thank you 🙂

  11. Kristina @ spabettie on October 16, 2010 at 12:40 pm

there was a good week or so where Chipoodle was our personal chef… at first we were both too busy and tired to cook, and I was having two salad bowls a day!! then we were addicted so it lasted a little longer… 😉

  12. Kirby on October 16, 2010 at 12:41 pm

We have the same personal chef! 😉

  13. Stefanie @thenewhealthy on October 16, 2010 at 12:46 pm

I have a few personal chefs, one of which is Amy. That girl really gets around! 😉

  14. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on October 16, 2010 at 12:54 pm

I think you’ve convinced me to give Amy a try! I have a feeling she’ll be a life saver when things get busy with midterms and papers! 😀

  15. The Hot and Fit on October 16, 2010 at 12:55 pm

I have a few personal chefs, too! Mainly ones that make Mexican and Middle Eastern food 😀

  16. Chelsea @ Strawberry Sweat on October 16, 2010 at 1:06 pm

Amy is definitely a lifesaver of a personal chef!

  17. Laura on October 16, 2010 at 1:45 pm

Butterscotch extract may be the best idea ever. Thank you!!!

  18. Paige @Running Around Normal on October 16, 2010 at 1:59 pm

The weather is gorgeous here too! I love it! Lower 60’s, sunny, and fall colors EVERY where 😀
Glad you got in a nice walk with the pups! Sometimes you just have to go with the frozen dinners when working all the time. Which it seems like you are lately! Glad it’s a place you enjoy though 🙂

  19. Holly on October 16, 2010 at 2:16 pm

AMY rocks!!! Well, so do those folks at Kashi 😉

  20. Exercise and Eat on October 16, 2010 at 2:30 pm

Chobani and Quaker (and PB!) Are my favorite personal chefs!

  21. Barbara on October 16, 2010 at 3:03 pm

  22. Sana on October 16, 2010 at 3:05 pm

So Iw as going to run a 5k as well. BUT I had like zero sleep all last week and I crashed for 12 hours last week and missed it. No biggie. It was only 5 bucks!
    Have fun with yours!

  23. Jessica@tastyandtrim on October 16, 2010 at 3:18 pm

I need to pick up some of those Amy’s meals! I definitely rely on Trader Joe’s frozen meals when I am away at school. I guess you can say Trader Joe is my “personal chef” 🙂

  24. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on October 16, 2010 at 3:20 pm

Amy’s is a great in-a-hurry savior. I also use her canned beans or canned soups as a base for my soups/chilis. The seasonings are all there then I add spices, veggie and tater chunks, other beans, but I use Amy as my “starter” some times 🙂

I can just tell by the pics your weather is gorgeous! Ours is crap. 🙁

Running a race for a great cause…that’s awesome and I have run alot of Susan G Komen RAce for the Cures and it never matters what my time is or how I do; I just look around and see all the survivors there and feel so good to be alive!

    🙂

  25. Donna Porter on October 16, 2010 at 3:59 pm

Amy gets around..she’s also my personal chef.

  26. hippierunner on October 16, 2010 at 4:01 pm

Trader Joe is my personal chef. And Dr.Prager makes me the best veggie burgers!

  27. Laury @ thefitnessdish on October 16, 2010 at 4:33 pm

Amy has been cooking for me for years 🙂

Having her pesto pizza tonight actually!

  28. Cara Craves... on October 16, 2010 at 6:37 pm

Personal Chef = the little Korean lady down my street!

  29. LisaG on October 16, 2010 at 8:27 pm

Amy & Kashi= not too shabby.

  30. Fit Chick in the City on October 16, 2010 at 9:49 pm

Have fun at the 5k tomorrow!

  31. Joelle (The Pancake Girl) on October 16, 2010 at 10:38 pm

Gah, I love Amy’s but can’t find it anywhere around me here in D.C.! I rely on Trader Joe’s for my groceries, so that may be the reason..

Good luck with your run! I’m considering doing the Princess half, btw…It’ll be my first! Do you remember if it was it a pretty flat course, or hilly?

  32. Heather on October 17, 2010 at 9:16 am

    Hey Gina!

Amy is a great personal chef. Being in college, she does a great job as a quick, on-the-go ladyfriend. The tamale verde is SO good! I was surprised but I totally loved it.

    Warning: Do NOT get the vegan Indian frozen dinner. I gave it a go and it was big ol’ thumbs down. Nothing like authentic Indian. [;

    • Fitnessista on October 17, 2010 at 11:17 am

      good to know!

  33. Brittany @ Bee Louise's Bites on October 17, 2010 at 3:26 pm

Mmmm Tamale Verde is my favorite! I once ate one of those every night for a week. Not my high point, but I feel like that says something for the crazy-good taste
