Piece of cakewalk

Tonight was a lovely night for a squadron party

hogcorn

[the return of hogcorn!!! <—popcorn popped with jalapenos]

and a fall festival.

festival festival (2)

The best part? They had a petting zoo, and the Pilot and I got to pet and cuddle multiple goats.

If that’s not the best way to party on a Friday night, I’m not sure what is 😉

pilot (2)

It was my little bro’s fall festival at his elementary school, so after the squadron party wrapped up, we went to check it out. It’s a pretty big to-do: each class has their own booth set up with games (face painting, potato sack races, etc), tons of food, a DJ, petting zoo and hay rides, and a cake walk.

cake

We picked the creepiest, most fun cake we could find, since it’s more for decorative purposes than feasting purposes.

We just got back to the casa and I’m going to catch as many zzz’s as possible before a full day of teaching.

Hope you’re having a great weekend!
xoxo

Gina

Just so you know- you look beautiful in every single pregnant picture you’ve posted. All of my friends are preggo or with newborns so I know it’s an awkward feeling, but to outsiders you just look glorious 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 22, 2011 at 1:11 am

thank you- it’s sweet to hear, because i feel super awkward and uncomfortable

        I totally agree. You make a beautiful-mom-to-be!

Oh and popcorn with jalapinos! Never heard of that!! Looks yummy

        • Sara on October 22, 2011 at 4:13 am

I thought it looked… deadly! Do you actually munch the Jalapeno’s, or just let them flavour the popcorn? It made my tongue shudder just looking at the picture!

  2. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on October 22, 2011 at 1:15 am

I have to agree with Jessica. In every picture you look stunning and like you are glowing with pregnancy happiness!

Those goats are adorable! And that jalepeno popcorn sounds intriguing! My bf loves jalepenos. Does anything else go into the popcorn?

    • Fitnessista on October 22, 2011 at 1:19 am

      thank you <3
you heat up oil, add the jalapenos, and then the popcorn [they use a popcorn maker in the squadron to make it] and add red seasoning salt to it. it's ridiculous

I second Jessica’s sentiments. You are glowing from the inside out, Gina! 🙂

That cake looks… like it would taste good? My Love is OBSESSED with animals, and would be so happy to do what you did tonight. The only problem? He has mad allergies! To funny.

    Hi Gina,

Ali here! I’ve only been following you for the last week or so but I finally got the chance to sit down to my computer (instead of follow you via my iphone) and say that you are just a DOLL! I agree with all the above comments, I don’t even know you and you are completely glowing! You go girl. Anyway, one of the reasons I love your blog so much is because I can relate to you so much. I’m a fitness instructor as well and I love hearing about other instructors journey’s. It’s an awesome job we have, to encourage others to be healthy and have FUN while done it 🙂 I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Anyway, just wanted to say HI! And nice to “meet” you. Keep up the great work girly, you are a true inspiration!

There needs to be a how to video on how to make hogcorn. I burn stove top popcorn every single time. It looks glorious.

I agree with the other comments you look amazing. Your hair is outrageous. I want to get pregnant just so I can have kick ass hair.

We used to do a cake walk at my elementary school’s festival! It’s about the only thing I remember about it. Haha, that and the big lollipop tree.

Hope you get a good nights sleep…big day of teaching at 30 weeks. You amaze me that you’re still going strong!

And petting goats….awwww, that’s sweet 🙂 There’s a few petting zoos with seasonal pumpkin patch type things here. We did one last year and Skylar loved it. She’s asking again for this year…that’s the plan this week is to go pet some goats and sheep.

Hogcorn? Oh I want to try that!

Jalapenos and popcorn, never heard of that combination before but it looks tasty!

  13. annonymous on October 22, 2011 at 8:52 am

how can u be all lovey and such to the goat when u drink its milk and cheese all the time? you have any idea what they go through to give you that?

    • Fitnessista on October 22, 2011 at 10:51 am

      hey girl,
i’m not a vegan, so i do consume animal products. it does make me very sad to know what goats go through to make goat’s milk and cheese, which is why i buy from local, organic sources on a regular basis.

      • Fitnessista on October 22, 2011 at 10:52 am

also, i’d love to have my own goats and baby goats to be able to keep them as pets and make my own cheese, but our homeowner’s association won’t allow it. i asked already 🙂

        • Sara on October 22, 2011 at 7:27 pm

If you get a chance, you could maybe make a visit to an organic goat farm? I did that, and it was really cool. I loved it and the goats seemed happy. I also visited a couple of chicken farms – one was kind of nice (although was not impressed that they try to encourage the chickens to eat more grains and less grass (makes them bigger)) but one was super gross. What I didn’t realise is that ‘organic’ with chickens, does not extend to the eggs they come from, which are mass fertilised using a sort of artificial insemination technique (needle into the eggs). Sometimes this fails, and they get a batch of deformed chickens that need to be ‘disposed of’. And… so much more, that I don’t want to contaminate your blog with. The pig farm was much better. Plus, I do not feel bad about eating pigs since one tried to eat ME.

What a fun time petting goats. I bet you just LOVED it. That cake would definitely be for looking at here. Not sure why, but anything with the black fondant on it freaks me out too much to eat. 🙂

  15. Krystina (Organically Me) on October 22, 2011 at 9:54 am

Just piggy backing off of everyone else and saying you look beautiful. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always thought you were stunning, but being pregnant makes you look extra pretty. 🙂

    and I LOVE goats. 😀

  16. Leslie Wingate on October 22, 2011 at 10:17 am

Sounds like fun!!!! What a creepy cake! 😉

We went to Chili’s last night and I decided to order the featured “Grilled Shrimp Tacos”. I removed the tortillas and feasted on the shrimp/slaw pile. YUM.
THEN, my lips started to swell! I’ve been eating shrimp for months so maybe it was the jalapenos? WEIRD!
