Pizza-induced slumber

Hey hey heyyy 😀 Hope you’re having a wonderful day! About 99% of mine has looked like this:

013

Oh, and this:

021

Eye candy… ow ow!

Shortly after my last post (which yes, I was busted for, haha) we hit the road.

Breakfast was my favorite bar:

009

And a little while later, I munched some of these raw flax crackers:

011

Carrots and homemade hummus:

012

We were meeting the pilot’s dadoo (also a pilot) for lonchi, but since we got there a little early I was stoked to check out the health food store across the street. I purchases some goodies (hemp milk, bars, mulberries and dried mango) and then we met the FIL at Savage Pizza.

016

It’s a pretty awesome little place—the servers are covered in tattoos and the walls are covered with comic book covers. The pizza menu was pretty serious, and most importantly, they have WHOLE WHEAT crust.

017

The pilots shared a large greek pizza and they made me a little greek cheese-less pizza on wheat:

019

And in appropriate savage fashion, I ate almost the whole thing:

020

And proceeded to fall into a pizza-induced slumber as we drove from Atlanta into Alabama.

We’ll be in Little Rock by tonight and will be staying there until Saturday, when we’ll finish the last part of our route to OKC.

Of course I’ll be keeping ya updated the whole time 😉

022

In total honesty, I LOVE road trips. Even the ridiculously long ones. I’m pretty sure that’s a bonus since we have to move and travel all the time—we’ve driven completely across the US 4 times. Crraaazzzyyyy!

I’m off to scrounge for some dried mango 😀

See you tomorrow!

xoxo,

Gina

Something to do: Head over to The Daily Balance for your chance to bid on some macaroons!! 😀

So glad it’s going well–wow you really have done a lot of road tripping!

  2. Jenna on September 3, 2009 at 7:00 pm

That pizza crust totally looks like the thick kind that I could just eat the crusts of the slices and be 100% content! Delicious looking lunch.

I’m not a good road tripped unless there it is scenic or I could have internet access the whole time 🙂

    Have fun and drive safe!

hey girl, I am so jealous you have already started your trip…plus you have company : ) I will be traveling all alone Saturday morning : ( But I love road trips too!! You will see amazing things on the way…I did one with the sis from Florida to Colorado, and then back. Crazy! But sometimes the best memories our made during road trips!! Have fun in Little Rock!I have been there though just for a few hours to get some sleep before hitting the road again. I know there is a Starbucks… though they did make my drink wrong 🙁

  8. Emily on September 3, 2009 at 7:41 pm

  9. Averie(LoveVeggiesandYoga) on September 3, 2009 at 7:44 pm

I’m so impressed you can blog in the car and do all your computer work shotgun. A little is ok with me but more than that leaves me with that icky carsicky feelin’. The pizza looked awesome btw! I can’t do gluten but I can still say it looked really good 🙂

  10. Lauren on September 3, 2009 at 8:02 pm

Your road trips always look like so much fun. I can’t say I mind them too much, but they are not my favorite thing in the world. SO long as there are good snacks, music, and a good book…I survive!

Pizza for lunch looked amazing. And of course you had to finish it, where would you have stored the leftovers? 😉

    Have a safe trip hun!

  27. Jen (Running With Cake) on September 3, 2009 at 11:29 pm

You look like you’re having a ton of fun! And the pizza looks fantastic. Seeing your pics really makes me want to go on a road trip. Maybe I can talk my husband into it! Keep enjoying yourself on this long weekend!

  28. Shelby on September 4, 2009 at 6:38 am

I think road trips are good when you are with someone you love and enjoy hanging with. 4 little brothers in a cramped A/C-less van? Not so much.

    PIZZA! Now I’m super hungry!

  29. Caroline on September 4, 2009 at 8:32 am

Oh my gosh, I haven’t been to Savage Pizza since middle school! I know where I’ll be headed next time I end up in Atlanta’s Lil 5!

  30. Pam on September 4, 2009 at 8:44 am

Going to make choc. ones and lemon too! Yum-o!

  31. Heather on September 4, 2009 at 8:59 am

I LOVE SAVAGE PIZZA! I always go there when I’m in Atlanta and get the exact same thing you got. Sooo good. Hope you’ve arrived safely!

I can’t find those Survival Bars ANYWHERE – are they a GA only thing, I wonder?!

  32. Ana on September 4, 2009 at 9:10 am

Every time I read it,I feel so motivated! Having been going through a fitness slump, I thought nothing would get me back to the gym and away from the fast food.Thank you!

I love that your computer is pink. 🙂 I would get so nauseous using it in the car though! Hope your stomach is stronger than mine.

I plan on pizza-ing myself into a coma this weekend too. Isn’t whole grain crust so much better? Love the hearty taste.

  39. Angharad (Eating for England) on September 4, 2009 at 2:43 pm

Love finding places that make healthy choices/substitutions. Hurray for wholewheat pizza dough!
Um and you are too gorgeous – please stop 😉

  40. Liz on September 4, 2009 at 3:33 pm

Nice pizza! That’s cool that they did a cheeseless pizza for you. Looks sorta like the Amy’s cheeseless pizza. Major yum. Drive safe!

  41. Sarah on September 4, 2009 at 3:54 pm

That pizza looks delicious. I’m thinking the next time I order one I’m going to ask for it without cheese. Has any restaurant ever made a big deal out of you doing that?

  42. Mari on September 4, 2009 at 5:52 pm

Hey! Love the blog. This may be a stupid question, but when you get chickpeas from a can, are they raw? I can’t seem to figure out if they go through boiling or not… ahh! Thanks 🙂

  43. Lisa on September 4, 2009 at 6:18 pm

Where is your macaroon recipe from? I always see them on your blog and want to make some!!

  44. fittingbackin on September 4, 2009 at 6:33 pm

Cute on-the-road pics!! I was like wait- that’s ATL then I saw Savage Pizza and was like yup!! Love the pic of you + ‘puter – cute!

  45. jessica on September 4, 2009 at 10:15 pm

I live in Atlanta and I love me some Savage Pizza! Delish! Have a safe trip!

  46. CaSaundra on September 5, 2009 at 9:13 am

That pizza place sounds fun! I always want to ask for my pizza cheeseless, but I feel odd. Do you ever get bad responses from the waiter/waitress, or is it something a lot of ppl do?!

    • Fitnessista on September 5, 2009 at 9:39 pm

      hi casaundra,
i’ve never gotten any beef (pun? haha) about it. a lot of people are lactose intolerant, so i’m thinking it’s pretty common to ask for no cheese

  47. Lee on September 15, 2009 at 7:35 pm

Aww, I need to read your blog more often. I live like 2 miles from Savage Pizza! Are you planning on stopping in ATL on your way home?
