Plane Pet Peeves

Hi friends! Hope you’ve had a wonderful Monday so far <3

I’m sky blogging again- it’s been a long day of traveling, rude cab drivers, and on-the-go food so it will be nice to get home and back in the swing of life.

We had a great last morning in Philly, though 🙂

me

After sleeping in, blogging and munching hotel-made oats (with Vega protein and 1/2 a crumbled Macro Bar)

oats

[I was eating it in the elevator and a man said, “well that looks very healthy.” Nothing like green oats to shock random people]

we went on a mission to find somewhere for the Pilot to get his hairs cut.

pilot

I went into the cute little stores while he tried to find a place, and it wasn’t until an hour or so after our adventure began that we remembered most salons are closed on Mondays. My mom is a stylist.. I should remember these things 😉

So instead, we went to the Reading Terminal Market one last time so the Pilot could grab some bfast and I could grab lunch for the plane.

market

We do this almost every time we’re on vacation- we find a place we like, and then we eat there every day. Remember in Vegas when we ate at Mon Ami Gabi for breakfast every.single.day? It’s funny because part of me thinks that we should explore foodie options whenever we can, and the other part has a “if it ain’t broke…” mentality.

He munched a stuffed savory crepe

pilot (2)

and I attempted to drink the sickest veggie juice of my life.

juice

[I tossed it after taking the photo. I couldn’t do it.]

I’m a pretty hardcore juice fanatic- you could juice a shoe and I might just ask you to add a bit of ginger to it- but this one tasted off, like something wasn’t right. As much as I wanted a veggie-ful enzyme blast, I couldn’t drink the stanky funky juice.

I also grabbed a salad + hummus to munch on the plane:

food

and its deliciousness made up for the juice 🙂

We had an.. eventful… cab ride to the airport, almost missed our flight [it wouldn’t be *us* if we weren’t sprinting through the terminal. In all fairness this time wasn’t our fault, but rather our cabbie’s] and had a long layover at the Atlanta airport hanging out and having dinner with my FIL. It was lovely 🙂

We were only in Atlanta for 3 hours, but being there made me realize how much I really miss Georgia people. They are so kind and polite… unlike anything I’ve experienced living or visiting anywhere else.

Time to shut this thing down. See ya in the desert! 🙂

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: What’s you biggest plane pet peeve? Mine *used* to be crying babies –now I just imagine that it will be me in a few months, so I’m trying to be more sympathetic- but I definitely think arm rest hogs are the worst. Also up on the list: snorers and people who glare at you when you ask to be let out to use the powder room.

Sounds like a fun last day–and a pretty uneventful chunk of traveling (always good). Also, my husband needs a haircut too. Thanks for reminding me.

My biggest pet peeve is having someone next to me (that I don’t know) that talks my ear off. I like to read or sleep on planes and having someone talk to me while I try to read is so annoying.

I used to fly quite a bit for work and I think my pet peeve is when people keep kicking the back of my seat!! Grrrrrr!!

Biggest plane pet peve’S : When people sneeze/cough and don’t cover there mouth, or the kid in the seat behind me that won’t stop kicking my seat!

I can’t stand the air in the plane. I know that sounds weird but the smell of it actually makes me sick. That said, I long for that smell as I haven’t traveled in some time. Glad you are headed home. I know Bella will be happy to see you!

Love that outfit Gina! Is it a dress or a top and skirt?

I feel the same way about how friendly people are in Indiana–I recently moved to California and it’s SO different! That aspect is really hard to get used to. I take rudeness very personally always!

I hate people who are mean about having to use the bathroom. I like to stay hydrated on the plane, and so sometimes you have to pee, you know? People can be so awful about it!

  7. Allison on August 23, 2011 at 10:10 am

Kids who kick the back of the seat and won’t stop and other loud, annoying, obnouxious kid behavior! I say this as a mother of two whose kids fly a lot. I don’t blame the kids, I blame the parents for flying unprepared. Bring books, snacks, coloring books etc. You know your child best, figure out what works for them and be prepared. Also, people who insist on reclining all the way even though there really isn’t room for it! Be considerate of others.

  8. Lauren on August 23, 2011 at 10:14 am

this goes for the movies as well, but KICKING SEATS. i just don’t get it. i don’t kick the seat in front of me. it’s not hard to plant your feet on the floor and not bug the crap out of the person sitting in front of you.

we ate at canyon ranch grill every.single.morning. in vegas! TOTALLY get what you mean!

I dislike flying in general. I always think about breathing in everyone else’s air and it makes me feel uncomfortable especially in the winter when people are sick. Ewe!

  12. Claire @ ThinkingClairely on August 23, 2011 at 10:48 am

I love your outfit in the first pic! Is that a tank/skirt combo, or a dress?!

    • Fitnessista on August 23, 2011 at 12:01 pm

      tank skirt combo 🙂

  13. Moni'sMeals on August 23, 2011 at 10:59 am

If i had to pick, I would say those people who talk, talk, talk, talk talk, when you do not do not, do not want to and they just dont get it! I really seem to have this happen a lot and even a book does not do the trick. 🙂 But anyways not the end of the world.

    Cute skirt too!

My biggest plane pet peeve is older kids (six-ish) sitting behind me who keep jostling and kicking the seat. Drives me crazy! That, and the fact that planes make me…ahem…gassy.

  15. Cait @ Cait hates Cake on August 23, 2011 at 11:02 am

My biggest plane pet peeve are when people push and budge in front of you to get off the plane. We ALL want to get off the plane. Be nice.

  16. Jennifer on August 23, 2011 at 11:08 am

when it takes people an absurd amount of time to put their stuff in the overhead bin, or to take it out once you land. i think, “don’t you WANT to get off the plane?? why are you just now standing up to get your stuff???” rrrrgh.

My sister goes to school in Alabama and the people there are so unbelievably friendly. It’s honestly true what they say about Southern hospitality! Every person we passed gave us a HELLO! Or How ya doin! I’m happy for her because it shouldn’t be too difficult for her to make friends now 🙂 hahaha

  18. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on August 23, 2011 at 11:38 am

Haha at the man in the elevator! It’s always funny when strangers comment on our weird looking food.

My plane pet peeve is based off of one incident where there was a really obnoxious group of people who talked really loudly and hogged the stewardess’ attention, so she ended up ignoring the rest of us. I asked for a water and never got it! 😛

  19. Ashley@MyFoodNFitnessDiaries on August 23, 2011 at 11:49 am

I would say my biggest plane pet peeve would also have to be snorers or baby cryers. I know these are things people can’t always help, so I really try to be patient, but it still drives me crazy sometimes.

  20. Nicole on August 23, 2011 at 12:13 pm

I loved Georgia too! It has a different atmosphere than anywhere else I’ve ever been. I keep meaning to make a trip back there soon. I have to fly tomorrow night so thanks for getting me to think about pet peeves 😉 I think the worst for me is when (now, don’t judge me!) the person next to me won’t stop talking to me while I’m trying to do something else. If I have no book or my book sucks, then it’s all good. But, sometimes I’m really into my book and am thankful to have a few straight hours to do nothing except read!

  21. Allison on August 23, 2011 at 1:35 pm

    Biggest pet peeve: gum smackers!

  22. Babs on August 23, 2011 at 2:13 pm

The person in front of you just HAS to recline the dang seat…before take off. Grrrrrrrr

  23. Laury @ thefitnessdish on August 23, 2011 at 3:10 pm

LOL! Was that the carrot, celery, parsley, wheatgrass juice at RTM. I liked it. LOL. Must be your preggo hormones. i couldn’t stomach certain things. That or my “could juice a shoe” taste is more defined.

    • Fitnessista on August 23, 2011 at 6:43 pm

it was from the vegetarian snack place. it was supposed to be carrot, apple, beet but it tasted so rank

  24. Coco on August 23, 2011 at 6:13 pm

I love your photos in this post! I was once on a long-haul flight and just falling asleep when the lady next to me spilt a bottle of sparkling water all over me. It was so annoying!

  25. Amanda on August 23, 2011 at 6:27 pm

Mine has to be when people take off their shoes. I was flying and the bozo next to me took his stinky shoes off. I was absolutely floored. I should have barfed on him. Maybe he would have gotten the message. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew he smelled, but didn’t care!

    • Fitnessista on August 23, 2011 at 6:42 pm

      ew ew eww!

This post is making me homesick… thanks for taking such awesome photos, I’m totally about to book my Christmas trip to Philly RIGHT NOW!

    • Fitnessista on August 23, 2011 at 6:41 pm

aww! stop at sweet freedom for me 🙂

  27. Brittany in TX on August 23, 2011 at 11:10 pm

The Philly cabbies are HORRIBLE!!! We would ask if they took credit cards and once we got to our destination they’d say the card machine was broken…as a business traveler I don’t typically carry cash so take my credit card or give me a free ride.

I loved Reading Terminal when I was traveling to Philly!

    • Fitnessista on August 24, 2011 at 1:19 am

he made us stop at an atm!
      so rude.

  28. Tara @ Sweat like a Pig on August 24, 2011 at 12:36 am

I flew two days ago, and I was stuck next to a toddler and her mom. The kid did not stop screaming and crying the whole time. She kept crawling all over the seat, turning on her little video player when you weren’t supposed to, and she made her mom take her to the toilet three times , without actually going. She finally went – in her nappy. Her mother changed it right there on the seat and, while doing so, the little girl spat in her face!

The whole experience put me off having kids for some time… The woman had absolutely zero control over her child! Eeek.

    • Fitnessista on August 24, 2011 at 1:17 am

she spat in her face?! wow….

  29. Joelle (On A Pink Typewriter) on August 24, 2011 at 11:54 am

Oh man, I fly all the time and I’d say probably the glarers or the people sitting in front of you who put their seat back so far their heads are in your lap. No gracias!
