Playing snake

Hey guys! Hope your humpday is treating you well:D

I’ve spent the past couple of hours playing snake… feasting and letting my foodie digest before the rest of the aerobics insanity begins (spin #2 and Zumba).

I went to teach spin and wasn’t sure how many people would show up since I usually don’t teach the 11am class. It was PACKED!! There weren’t enough bikes for everyone that showed up… craziness. We had a great class –  I’m sure my style is much different than the girl who usually teaches, but hopefully they’ll be back!

I snacked on the forgotten Larabar from last night on my drive home:

For lunch I made a salad BEAST with romaine, greens, basil, sundried tomatoes, oregeno, red pepper flakes, sea salt, pepper, balsamic and grape tomatoes:

Oh, and a small mountain of raw goat cheddar 😀

With some peach green tea extract H2O.

011

I cuddled up on the couch with my lunch and watched Center Stage with the puppies. Is anyone else hardcore into dance movies?? I just love them all 😀

A little while later, I had another snack of Envirokids peanut puffs (Puffins reign supreme but they’re pretty tasty) with vanilla hemp milk:

012

You might not be able to see them, but positioned at the bottom of the coffee cup are two cocoa-carob macaroons. They came out wayyyy too crunchy, but taste great (I’m still working on perfecting these ones) but they make an awesome cereal companion 😉

It was so fascinating to me to read your responses to my thoughts about fueling properly in my last post. It seems like something that many of us have been through! It’s a tricky balance to find but I promise if you trust your body and make sure you’re eating enough to support your busy and active lives, it will happen. It’s been 7 years since I started my weight loss journey and I still feel like I’m always learning something new.

Time for round 2- spin and Zumba, followed by a beautiful Indian dinner and a glass of red vino 😉

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Much love,

G$

I really enjoyed your thoughts on fueling properly! I have a friend right now that refuses to eat, it's so frustrating. She doesn't understan she's ruining her metabolism, that's why she can't lose any weight!

    That Larabar looks so yummy!

It's funny because I did not grow up dancing but I love dance movies. I think it's because I am so amazed by people that CAN dance like that. I really got into the MTV show Taking the Stage, because I loved watching the hip hop dancing.

I grew up as a dancer, and I am so obsessed with dance movies! Center Stage is my absolute favorite I think!

Have fun with round 2 of classes today 🙂

Love Center Stage! I'm a sucker for dance movies. Although some (Step Up, Stomp the Yard) are mega cheesy.

Just read your fuel post and you are so totally right. And it's a hard balancing act too! Especially if you know you need to take in something extra but you just don't want it.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Gina! That's a yummy mound of cheese you got there with those chewy sweet sundried tomatoes. Yummmy.

Macaroons soaked in vanilla hemp milk and cereal sounds sooo good 😀

Your fueling post was great. Part of my issues are metabolic damage that just don't seem to be improving at all. I completely understand the "being active but pants are tight" syndrome because its still going on with me.

Always love looking at your food pics, esp salad, they're so fresh and colorful!

Way to fuel up girl! Between your puffs and your dance movie, you'd fit right in with Gracie.

Good luck with your classes! Is it Indian night yet??? 😉

I'm adopting "Playin' the snake," both the hilar phrase and the concept.

    Great last post.

I'm battling an extremely similiar situation to where you were a few years ago, and I'd love it if you'd indulge the following super long comment and respond. I know it's hard, if not impossible, to administer advice without a true consultation and seeing someone in the flesh, but I'm leaving my scenario up here as a comment so that maybe it could serve as a case study for others in a like place.

Okay. I graduated college last year and decided to take a pause before beginning the next round of more school. I about killed myself with getting straight-As all through college, so I figured I should try to "relax" as thoroughly as possible–no school, no job, nada. Yeah, you'd think a straight A student would be smarter than that, to think you could just flip the activity switch. Anyway, my previous, casual interest in fitness and food quickly morphed into full blown OCD. Losing weight was never the target, just some sort of unidentifiable "betterness." Stronger, "healthier." If the idea is to always increase weight, reps, time, distance, etc. then where does one stop? (and now I realize that's why it's important to change up your splits, change creates change, something your blog has taught me) I certainly had the time, so I exercised for hours each day. In hindsight, there were probably additional factors like mild depression that made exercise all the more attractive for the awesome endorphines that this girl for one can say she gets nearly every time she exercises. My daily routine included about 90 minutes strength training and another 2 hours (here the plot somewhat thickens, and unfortunately I hate how stereotypically this will likely come across)….doing ballet. the cross-training was definitely helping my dancing, but before i knew it I had unintentionally (this is a key point, that my motive really wasn't weight loss) lost nearly ten pounds, putting me rather underweight. Bye,bye Aunt Flo (as of October '08, and she still hasn't popped into town. So I upped my calories a few hundred calories. Then a few hundred more. However, I didn't decrease my training because I didn't then and don't want now for that hard earned muscle to abandon me. I figured I'd just eat more, a surplus above even how much I was exercising, and gain weight, but so far, I've been unsuccesful. I also realize that law school is drawing neigh, and I feel panicky knowing that my workout time is about to go from hours a day to maybe not even daily, and then perhaps an hour. I do have my priorites in check, knowing that school must come before fitness fanaticism, but I am NOT enjoying the level of anxiety I'm having over this-I know it's not healthy. All this hardwork, and I am terrified that it will go away. This puts me in a pickle with the weight gain dilemna, because I don't want the weight to come on too fast and/or I think I'll gain a bunch of weight when I can't workout as much.

Soooooo…..any more particulars on how to

    A) keep a current state of fitness (in terms of strength and endurance)

    but

    B) while decreasing time spent exercising (and believe me, I already don't take breaks in between anything and I get down to business doing very exact breakdowns of max three muscles during one session, this is no "upper body" girl but one who is like "oh it's tuesday, it's time for lats and delts" or whathaveyou)

    and

    C) all the while gaining a bit of weight?

I have seen two different RDs, but they don't seem to understand the fitness component (they tend to not believe the intensity of my workouts since i'm not a professional athlete nor a competitor of any sort is my guess), and then fitness people I talk to at gyms don't seem to understand the nutrition aspect.

Gina, I cannot tell you sincerely enough what a public service your blog is.

My old roommate used to love Center Stage!

Loved your post about fueling. I struggle with that a lot: sometimes I just feel like I'm eating a LOT, even though I know I need it! It is a weird balance to find.

    Have a good night!

Ooooh that flavor Lara bar is so good! So are those pb puffs, and luckily not AS crack-like as the Puffins version.. I could easily go through a box of PB Puffins in just a couple of days, they are so addicting!
