Poolside naan

Heyyyyy 😀 Hope you’re having a wonderful Saturday so far!!!

You didn’t think I could go more than a week without Indian food, right??? Well, last night I got my fix 😀 We got it to-go (toga with an “o”) and ate it out by the pool.

Baigan Bhartha (spicy!)

Whole wheat naan:

007

I live for Indian food… I still can’t believe that I just started eating it a year ago- I’ve been missing out! In college, I had a roommate who was Indian and always wanted to cook for me and I was always like, “Ehhh… it’s ok. But thank you anyway!”. TOTALLY regret that one! So for now, I’m making up for lost naan and spicy delights.

It’s just so good:

008

The pilot swam while I dangled my feet in the water and read. Summer = the best thing ever

There might have been some of this involved:

004

(No sulfites detected?? What does that mean exactly? Haha)

I seem to be EXTRA full of antioxidants lately 😉

005

During the day I also had the usual salad beast:

001

Some lightly steamed broccoli for a snack (also covered in goat gouda..and red chili pepper flakes). I really wish I could eat it raw, because steaming it is quite a stinky feat

003

And a “chocolate milk” with hemp milk, Stevia, raw cocoa powder, a frozen nanner, vanilla extract and cinnamon:

002

A-freaking-mazing 😀

This morning started out with a bowl of fruit, since I didn’t have all the juice supplies I wanted (I’m out of my industrial-sized organic spinach tub already).

1 chopped apple and a chopped pear:

009

I made the pilot some french toast:

011

And we went to the health food store, Best Buy (so he could get a Wii game he’s been wanting) and Publizzle.

I had a delicious (and unpictured) Supergreen juice from The Main Squeeze and a couple of hours later, munched a Larabar:

014

That guy I like surprised me with some beautiful roses:

015

Fresh flowers liven up the casa so much!

Gorgeous

016

I also made a giant batch of vanilla macaroons:

017

And some chocolate cinnamon ones 😀 So if I’ve been promising you macaroons, they’ll be in the mail Monday or Tuesday!

I’m off to float on my raft, hit up the gym, then out to dinner! I will most likely not be blogging tomorrow (I seem to have adapted well to the southern lifestyle of having Sunday off) but I’ll be back Monday with this week’s Summer Shape Up workout, the rest of this weekend’s re-cap and a *very exciting announcement* 😀

xoxo,

Gina

The roses are BEAUTIFUL- 1 point for the pilot. AND that Indian food… YUM! I didn't try Indian food until college. Actually I didn't try a lot of ethnic food until college- but now I'm in love with sushi, Thai Indian, and Vietnamese. I was missing out for all those years, but I'm totally making up for it now!!

Love all your ideas! Two questions—do you make your green drinks in a blender or a juicer? And where do you find the goat cheese? Thanks!!

oh man, i cant believe youve only been eating indian for a year! no wonder you love it so…glad youre making up for lost time 🙂

hope the flowers covered up the brocc stank…i totally know what you mean about the reek that they bring with their lovely flave. same with brussels. another one of my faves. sad.

i never know what to make of vague wrappers like that. i had a hummus the other day that said "vegan friendly" on it…what does that mean?

  23. Sweetie Pie on June 28, 2009 at 4:42 pm

Indian food is one of my faves! Sad, but I didn't try it until moving to the east coast. I was probably 29. I've made up for it over the last six years! There wasn't a lot (ok… any that I know of…) of Indian food in my corner of Arkansas. I can't believe I lived so long without naan!

    Your "chocolate milk" looks yummy!

Indian by the pool…summer's definitely here. Love you!!

  27. Fitnessista on June 28, 2009 at 10:28 pm

joy h.- i make my drinks in the juicer usually and the goat gouda is from publix, the goat cheddar is from whole foods and the goat jack cheese is from the commisscary

  28. Val on June 28, 2009 at 10:35 pm

I'm hoping you are going to post your macaroon recipe! Sounds delish!

  29. Sarabell on June 30, 2012 at 11:33 am

Sheesh, I really hope you’re still offering macaroons by the time I make it up to your current posts. I have to eat gluten free (no wheat, rye, barley, only specifically gluten free oats) and I have trouble finding GF macaroons, which I used to love. Plus I’m trying to choose HEALTHIER sweets and that would be a better choice for me. =]
