Pretty-fied

Hiiiii 😀 How was your day? Hope you’ve had a wonderful Tuesday <3

Everyone in our household was pretty-fied in one way or another today.

After two appointments and a conference call this morning, I headed over to my madre’s salon since the Pilot was getting a haircut before work. Since he hadn’t eaten, I picked up breakfast for him on the way at Beyond Bread.

juice2

[They only gave me half an orange juice for him! I have no idea how that happened….]

Sometimes when the Pilot gets breakfast potatoes, I’ll ask for a couple of bites to try them. Today, I wanted my own 🙂

When I got to madre’s salon, I was excited to find out that she had booked a pedicure appointment for me. As I’ve mentioned before on the blog, I usually paint my toes myself and reserve spa appointments for massages and facials, but pedicures are quickly moving up the totem pole. This is because last weekend, I had to paint my toes and can no longer comfortably reach them with my baby belly. It was a little bit of a project and contortionist act, so having someone else paint them today was pretty amazing.

polish

[Halloween color! I’m prob going to paint my fingernails grey]

The Pilot’s hair looks verrrrrry nice. Usually I feel like whenever boys get haircuts, it’s too short, no matter how much they trim off. Madre manages to do it without the obvious “I just got a haircut” look.

Lunch was from my friend Renee, since we were still low on groceries at the time [I finally made it to TJs this afternoon]

sandwich

[An old pic, since I ate the entire meal before I thought to snap one]

My favorite veggie sandwich with hummus, goat cheese + salad from home

The winner of the family day of grooming would be Miss Bell:

She’s strutting around right now 😉

Workout wise, I tested out the October Workout along with the playlist. It’s a doozy! Hope you guys love it… stay on the lookout for that on Thursday.

Time to finish dinner

veg

and head to birth class with the Pilot.

See ya in the morning!

xoxo

Awww I love Bella’s bows in her hair! Love the orange nail polish too – so festive! I wish I was festive but sadly I pretty much use the same colors every time I go to the nail salon.

  2. Ali @ Peaches and Football on October 4, 2011 at 9:35 pm

I adore Bella’s little bows. It will be so cute when Miss Bell and Little Baby Girl are scampering around together with pink bows in their hair.

Also need to get some hummus – that sandwich looks ah-may-zing!

  3. Kaila @healthyhelperblog! on October 4, 2011 at 9:35 pm

Love the Halloween decor! Very niiiiice! That was so sweet of your mom to book you a surprise pedicure! I would love that!! My mom and I are going for massages this weekend! So that should be fun!!

  4. Amanda @ the beauty notebooks on October 4, 2011 at 9:36 pm

!!! absolutely adoring Bella’s bows. she always looks pretty for the camera, but the bows add a lovely touch.

btw your sandwich looks delicious! I want to recreate it. Just started using goat cheese in my pasta dishes — even adding some to the sauce while it cooks — and let’s just say there is no turning back 😉

  5. Sara on October 4, 2011 at 9:44 pm

How do you attach the bows and decorations to Bella? She always looks so cute, and I’ve been wondering how those things stay on.. clips? glue? tied into her fur?

  6. kathleen @ the daily crumb on October 4, 2011 at 9:47 pm

awww look at those bows!! such a pretty lil’ lady 🙂

  7. Beth on October 4, 2011 at 9:52 pm

Your dinner looks great!! Mushrooms and zuchini… what else is in there?

    • Fitnessista on October 5, 2011 at 12:54 am

I added marinara and goat cheese then ate it atop spaghetti 🙂

  8. Desi on October 4, 2011 at 10:03 pm

A surprise pedicure is awesome! I love the color that you picked. Very Autumn-y

  10. Sara K on October 4, 2011 at 10:05 pm

Our dinners look very very similar- I Just sauteed some zucchini, mushrooms, and onions and made Middle Eastern-style scrambled eggs and toast 🙂
I wish I knew how to do my nails…sad that I’m so bad at keeping them from looking unkempt; everytime my mum visits she insists on taking me out for a mani-pedi

Focus on holiday eating strategies! Mainly because I’m currently fighting the candy corn urge. Why is it SO GOOD?

  12. Gia on October 4, 2011 at 10:31 pm

OMG. The thought of beyond bread just made me drool a bit 🙂 I miss that place. They have the BEST honey mustard. Everything is amazing dipped in that honey mustard!

  13. Meg on October 4, 2011 at 10:33 pm

I totally know what you mean about the “I just got a hair cut look”!!!!! I always think after guys get haircuts they look funny because it looks too short 🙂

  14. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on October 4, 2011 at 10:45 pm

Omg I just listened to got no shorty for the first time and I love it! My workout playlist needs a serious makeover! Thanks!

Also, that sandwich looks INCREDIBLE. I just got so hungry!

Can’t wait to hear about the birth class! My husband and I just booked in to the Family Birth Centre connected to our local hospital, which is supposed to recreate the atmosphere of home. It’s really nice, but they VERY strongly encourage natural birth which I would like ideally, but am nervous to be shutdown if I am desperate for some pain medication help. Any techniques you get would love to hear! I start birth classes in December. Happy Wednesday to you x

    I love Bella’s little bows!

Any Focus On tips for mammas-to-be? I’d like to mix it up a little at the gym but am not sure what’s cool/not cool (besides what feels good/doesn’t feel good). Normally I do some elliptical or walking on the treadmill, and some light strength training (simple stuff: push-ups, plie squats, lots of arm lifting and mat work).

  17. Nicole on October 4, 2011 at 11:33 pm

She looks beautiful with her bows in her hair. What a cutie pie!

  18. Sana on October 4, 2011 at 11:36 pm

I can’t get over how cute those bows are! You baby girl will be a stylish girlyyyy!

  19. Kelster on October 4, 2011 at 11:48 pm

    Wait
You got two appointments and a conference call done by 9:30?! Jealous

    • Fitnessista on October 5, 2011 at 12:51 am

Yeah it was an early day today! Especially when calls are based on est and I’m stuck over here in mountain time

  20. Ali on October 5, 2011 at 1:03 am

Sounds like you had an awesome day! I am happy that you got some pampering in! I ended up making my home look nice today too, as well ash shopping it up for food! I am with you on the boy hair cut issue too, I am always sad when My love gets his locks of love chopped off. Hope your class is awesome tonight!

  21. Kristi @ lifesprinkles.com on October 5, 2011 at 1:25 am

haha I totally hate when guys get haircuts for that same reason! would love to know the madre’s secret 🙂

  22. Jess@pinkchilli on October 5, 2011 at 2:01 am

    Love Bella’s cute flowers 🙂

  23. Shannon @ Healthiful Balance on October 5, 2011 at 5:53 am

Aw, Bella is so cute! I love that nail polish color..perfect for the Fall season! 🙂

  24. Stephanie on October 5, 2011 at 6:16 am

I had to giggle at the bows in Bella’s hair. My dog is very manly. And also 120 pounds. But sometime he wears pretty flowered scarves.

  25. Megan @ Long Distance Relationship on October 5, 2011 at 6:50 am

I think they same thing about guys haircuts! I’m always telling my boyfriend that when he goes for a haircut, and now his stylist has gotten better about not making it so obvious.

  26. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on October 5, 2011 at 6:59 am

Hope birthing class was fun. And relaxing. Usually about this time in the progression of the classes it’s “husband massages wife time” during class. Hope you could cash in on some of that 🙂

And cute nail polish color and totally know what you mean about that freshly buzzed look w/ guys’ hair!

  27. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on October 5, 2011 at 7:42 am

Even if you can do it yourself, it’s always a nice treat to have someone else give you a pedi once in a while! Massaging your own feet just doesn’t have the same effect. 😛

  28. mallory on October 5, 2011 at 8:33 am

How in the world do you find yourself with so much energy?!

  29. Sarah on October 5, 2011 at 9:06 am

How about a Focus on Tae Bo or something like that? Nice nail varnish color!

  30. Hillary on October 5, 2011 at 9:15 am

I’ve never thought of that before, but you’re totally right about the men’s haircut thing! It’s always so obvious.

  31. Kristen on October 5, 2011 at 9:28 am

maybe a focus on sick days & exercise? it is the season!

  32. Michaela on October 5, 2011 at 9:42 am

Bella looks like a doll with those hair clips 🙂
I can´t wait for the playlist!
I remember when one of my girlfriends was pregnant and she got so angry when she couldn´t reach her feet properly anymore and also she coulnd´t shave her legs… she was bossing her boyfriend around to do it for her, so funny!

  33. Irene on October 5, 2011 at 9:47 am

Yay for pedicures! It has been way too long for me:) I’d love a focus on another type of workout Dvd you love (I’m looking to invest and I don’t think my knee injury is recovered enough for the Turbofire/Insanity stuff you love). Also, I’ve been wondering what you think about artificial sweeteners. You mentioned at some point that you used to use a lot of splenda and have cut back and I was wondering why. I have migraines, so I cut out all artificial sweeteners a while ago, but it didn’t seem to help so I was thinking of switching back somewhat. Also, I think you’ve talking in the past about how you’d advise clients to switch up their habits gradually – I’d love to hear more about that.

  34. Michelle on October 5, 2011 at 10:05 am

Gah! Every time you post a pic of something from Renee’s, I almost start drooling! Stop doing this to me, it’s still an hour until snack time over here 😉 Haha.

Glad you enjoyed your pedicure 🙂

  35. Joelle (On A Pink Typewriter) on October 5, 2011 at 10:15 am

Mmm, that din looked like the makings of something delicious!

  36. Beth (Well I'll Be) on October 5, 2011 at 10:32 am

Bella looks cute as always! I love that orange polish, and not just for halloween!

  37. Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups on October 5, 2011 at 1:18 pm

    Love the toenail polish color!

  38. Madison Blake on October 9, 2011 at 3:57 pm

Have you ever heard of Aqua Zumba?? The gym I go to offers it. I’ve never tried, and I’ve only done one Zumba class before (I know, I know, what’s wrong with me??) but it might be interesting for you to do a Focus On Aqua Zumba. I’d really like that!

    • Fitnessista on October 9, 2011 at 8:48 pm

i have- i’ve never taken a live class but it looks pretty awesome
