Lean lovely leg burner

Monday:

Not too shabby when you have Prosecco in the sink,

Prosecco 1 of 1

(someone has to drink it, right?)

and brownies in the oven!

As far as the Prosecco goes, we had the genius idea to chill it in the freezer so we could enjoy it last night. Of course, we forgot about it and remembered our frozen bottle this afternoon. It’s chilling/exploding everywhere in the sink as I type this.

For the brownies, I decided to use up some almond butter I had in the fridge. It’s weird because I used to be OBSESSED with almond butter -aka I would go swimming in the jar multiple times per day- but since we’ve switched to mostly sun butter, the good ol’ AB lost some of its appeal. (Maybe the whole “no added sugar thing?”)

Anyway, I had half a jar in the fridge, and instead of letting it sit there from now until eternity -while we replace the sun butter stash every week- I decided to put it to good use 😉

Almond butter 1 of 1 2

I followed this recipe, but used 1/2 cup almond butter (all that was left) , 1/2 cup almond meal, and added 1/3 cup chocolate chips.

The verdict?!

Brownie 1 of 1

AMAAAAZING.

Have you tried any amazing healthier dessert recipes lately? I especially love this sweet potato brownies recipe and these almond meal cookies. <– perfect when you’re short on time and want something sweet. Any nut butter addicts out there? It’s ok to step forward. We support you.

Smoothie snack:

Smoothie 1 of 1 3

(1/2 banana, 1 scoop Raw Fit vanilla protein, 1 cup frozen berry blend, 1 tablespoon hemp seeds, 1 cup almond milk, handful of spinach)

Later this afternoon, I’m heading out for an easy 3-4 miler and the rest of the night, you can probably find me chilling in the princess house 😉

Princess house

Hope you have a great night!!

xoxo

  4. Amber Schumann on January 13, 2014 at 8:01 pm

My lunchbreak gym sesh got cut short today, so this leg burner will be happening tonight! After my own little chill time with my 18mo (she prefers forts with sheets and blankets… Or, “tuuhh”–tunnels–as she likes to call them).

  5. Whitney @ To Live & Diet in L.A. on January 13, 2014 at 8:06 pm

I’m a humongous nut butter addict. I’ve tried to get it under control but it’s just not happening. So I’ve embraced it. I’m Whitney, and I’m obsessed with nut butter.

Those brownies look freaking fabulous. I made some brownies recently with black beans and they were surprisingly delicious. They’ve actually become one of my favorite healthy treats….topped with nut butter 🙂

  6. Sara @ LovingOnTheRun on January 13, 2014 at 9:18 pm

I completed upper body today so I think this might be a great workout tomorrow for lower body! 🙂 Those brownies look DELICIOUS!

Wow I could go for some of those brownies RIGHT now! YUM! My favorite healthy brownies that I’ve tried are the Food Babe’s almond butter brownies. They are dangerous to have around. And they do not last long! I sometimes eat them for breakfast 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2014 at 10:20 am

Can I ask what made you you make the switch to mostly sunbutter? We typically have in our fridge sun butter, almond butter and peanut butter. But peanut butter is my fave by a landslide. I don’t even touch the others, I just feed them to my boys. I really try to stay out of the pb also. If I open the jar I have a hard time stopping the snacking.

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2014 at 10:20 am

we started off with sun butter for liv, since it’s less allergenic that peanuts and tree nuts. since then, we’ve stuck with mostly that, even though she’s had all of the other nuts too. she loves it!

  13. Dominique @ Eat, Pray, Lift on January 13, 2014 at 10:55 pm

Yay! Thanks for sharing the almond meal cookies recipe…We’ve got a bag of TJ’s almond meal chillin’ in the cupboard and I’ve been wondering what his fate would be. Now we know! 😉

Hope you had a great run! Is you knee issue completely cleared up now, or does the KT tape just make it tolerable?

Can’t wait to try the burner after tomorrow morning’s leg workout!!

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2014 at 10:19 am

let me know what you think! 🙂
knock on wood, it feels completely better. i’m still waiting for my PT referral to go through, but for know, taping it has worked wonders

I keep meaning to try your sweet potato brownies and then I forget. One these days for sure!

let me know if you do 🙂

  15. Kathy on January 13, 2014 at 11:55 pm

I too have a serious nut butter addiction! I go back and forth between almond and peanut and currently have 7 jars in my pantry or fridge..seven! And no one else in the house eats it.
I’d love to try these brownies, they look amazing! I’m allergic to eggs though…do you think they’d work with egg replacer?

i think they’d word with a couple of flax eggs!

  17. Amelia on January 13, 2014 at 11:57 pm

I am a complete nut butter addict – have you ever tried making your own sunbutter in the food processor? so quick and simple. and if you add carob chips? well, it’s neeeext level! I may have to try with the brownies 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2014 at 10:18 am

i’ve made almost every other type, but never sun butter. i’ll have to try it!!

  18. shayna on January 14, 2014 at 12:31 am

Does the pilot eat hemp seeds too? I don’t use them at all because the hubby is in the AF and he tends to steal all my food 😀 but I also don’t want him to pop positive on a urinalysis because of my hippie ways, lol.

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2014 at 10:17 am

no, he’s super weird about trying anything with hemp

  19. Julie on January 14, 2014 at 12:56 am

Great burner – will need to try it.

Okay, so I love nut butters too and sometimes I can’t get enough of it especially sunflower seed butter. Lately, I’ve been staying away though! Not sure what that’s all about. When I have a jar, I want it, but when I don’t have them, I’m okay. I think I may have made up with more fat elsewhere in my nutrition.

    Prosecco is my favorite!

  20. CourtStar @ StarSystemzFitness on January 14, 2014 at 1:57 am

I will take a glass of that prosecco please 😉 I ate so much almond butter last year I feel kinda over it and have been enjoying spreading avocado on everything again. Lots of love your way xo C

same! it’s fun to switch it up 🙂

I feel so leery of jumping lunges! I just envision doing one, losing my balance and not-so-gracefully falling on my face. Maybe I’ll wait for springtime to try them in my backyard…alone, in the dark.

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2014 at 10:15 am

      be careful! haha

  25. RunningARagnar on January 14, 2014 at 8:24 am

  26. Rory Lazear on January 14, 2014 at 8:31 am

      doooooo it

  28. Kaelene @Unlocking Kiki on January 14, 2014 at 8:41 am

I can’t keep my fingers out of my almond butter jar, but I prefer to make mine at home so I know there is no added sugar in it. Nut butter is one thing I can’t live without, I would put it on everything!

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2014 at 10:15 am

i need to start making it at home again. so much easier and less $

  29. Theresa on January 14, 2014 at 9:57 am

I just made black bean brownies last night, grain free, (not vegan because I used honey) but they are seriously amazing!! Dark chocolate chips sprinkled on top too!

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2014 at 10:14 am

that sounds delicious! even though i have to say, beans in desserts freak me out a little haha

  30. Lauren on January 14, 2014 at 11:11 am

where do you buy the sun butter? I haven’t seen it at a regular grocery store yet 🙁

  31. Jill on January 14, 2014 at 11:12 am

Glad to know I’m not the only one who puts things in the freezer to chill quickly and forgets it there 🙂 There is no shame in licking it off the bottle 😉

  32. Tracy on January 14, 2014 at 1:23 pm

I got a little burnt out on AB after a bit of *cough* overconsumption, but now it’s back in my life 🙂 Moderation is key 😉

  33. Liesl@Fitnessinthekitchen on January 14, 2014 at 1:57 pm

I love Kahlua brownies, so I’m sure Prosecco would be quite amazing as well.
I haven’t made a ton of dessert-ish recipes as of late as I’m doing a January “sin azucar” but these will probably be bookmarked for a later date.

  34. Dawn on January 14, 2014 at 2:08 pm

I so could’ve used some Prosecco and brownies last night! Especially after my almost 3 hours meeting yesterday afternoon.

  35. Cassie Vaughn on January 14, 2014 at 2:42 pm

I have, on occasion, gone through half a jar of almond butter. It may be the reason I try really hard not to just keep it laying around.

  36. Kylie on January 14, 2014 at 3:25 pm

Brownies sound yummy! I bought Prosecco for the first time a couple weeks ago for a sangria recipe on New Years Eve. Turned out awesome… did your wine still taste okay after is de-thawed?

  37. Liesl@Fitnessinthekitchen on January 14, 2014 at 6:10 pm

I’m totally a nut butter addict. If you used to swoon over almond butter and now have fallen for sunbutter…you should try this: http://fitnessinthekitchen.wordpress.com/2013/09/30/almond-sun-butter-w-sea-salt/

Both wrapped into one jar of addiction. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2014 at 11:41 pm

AHHHH! i’ll definitely try it 🙂

  38. Shaina Anderson on January 14, 2014 at 11:08 pm

  39. Kaylin on January 15, 2014 at 1:35 pm

Hi Gina – how do you like Raw Fit protein? Do you use it for post-workout or more like a meal replacement? I’m looking for one I can use in a smoothie for an afternoon snack!

    • Fitnessista on January 15, 2014 at 1:57 pm

i’ve been using it for post-workout and afternoon snacks lately and really like it! i got it on sale at the BX and might get another container today 🙂

      • Nicole F. on January 16, 2014 at 10:55 am

        Hi Gina,
I’ve been a Sunwarrior fan forever, so how does this compare in taste/texture? I’ve had the regular RAW Protein and found it a bit chalky on its own…

        • Fitnessista on January 16, 2014 at 5:32 pm

it’s pretty chalky, but i don’t mind it too much. it was on sale at the BX so i decided to go for it. it’s been great in smoothies and bfast cookie cereal

          • Nicole F. on January 16, 2014 at 5:33 pm

            Okay cool, Thank you!

    • priya on January 19, 2014 at 3:46 pm

      hey gina!
i just bought the Raw Protein a few days ago, and now see that oyu have it too! (seemed like the Fit was geared more towards weight loss, but I;m assuming it just depends on your use.)
COuld you explain (a bit more clearly than the sales person haha hopefully), if you know, the difference between the Original, Raw Fit, and Snack/Meal Replacement? (1 scoop)

      • Fitnessista on January 19, 2014 at 7:08 pm

i actually have no idea. i got the fit because it was on sale at the BX 😉 there weren’t any others to compare!

  40. Caitlin on January 16, 2014 at 2:26 pm

That leg burner was DEFINITELY pinned. The 1 minute of each jumping move sounds especially killer!!! I had that exact same prosecco on Sunday night while watching the Golden Globes. A bit too much of it, but the same none the less, haha.

    • Fitnessista on January 16, 2014 at 5:29 pm

      same. haha

  41. Daina on January 16, 2014 at 5:18 pm

Thank you so much for the leg burner! I have finally been doing better with adding some strength to my running routine but it’s difficult to come up with things to do since I don’t have a background in strength training. I’ve used several of your burners 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 16, 2014 at 5:24 pm

i’m so happy you like them!

  42. Verhanika on October 14, 2014 at 11:21 am

I’m doing the 30-days of fitness cheats that you sent to your mailing list. I LOVE this leg burner. It torched my super-strong legs. I featured it in one of my blog posts since I loved it so much. Thanks for making fitness easy and accessible!
