Puppy .5k

Hi guys! Happy Sunday! Hope you’re having a wonderful and relaxing morning <3

The night before a race, they always say to eat something you know and have had before.

So I had something I know a little too well….

hot bar

HOT BAR 🙂

hot bar (2)

Madras curry on top of veggies, beets, miso slaw, arame slaw and Babylonian treasure salad

+ my weekly vegan chocolate chip cookie 😉

cookie

We came back to the casa and called it an early night.

The original plan was to run the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure… but alas, I am a slacker and waited til the last minute to register and it was $40. A little pricey for a 5k and the drive was going to be about 40 minutes. My thoughts are if you’re doing to drive longer than you’ll be running- not worth it.

Instead….

we had a Puppy .5k 🙂

park

There were only two contestants,

dogs

and one dog walker 😉

shoes

Viesa was very upset because her Garmin wasn’t working

vies

and Bella’s iPod died

bella

So they walked together and finished the .5k leash-to-leash.

dogs (2)

It was a low budget race, so instead of T-shirts, they handed out snacks 😉

treat

We came back to the casa, the puppers ate and crashed out, and I made some pumpkiny oats:

oats

-1/2 C oats

Sun Warrior

-1/3 C pumpkin

-cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, Stevia

-almond milk

goji berries and cacao nibs

I’m OFF WORK TODAY!!! The plan was to go to Food and Wine Festival at Epcot, but no one in my fam can go, so let’s see what other shenanigans I get into 😉

Have a great day <3

Bummer about the 5K, but seriously, I think you’ll be able to enjoy your day off that much more now 🙂

Poor Bella — an ipod dying is way worse than a Garmin not working (my opinion) 🙂

    Enjoy your day off!

I *just* last week (monday & then again this Friday bc I am now addicted LOL and WF is so close) tried the hot bar for the first time EVER and I got that same madras lentils… WOW! It really is as good as you’ve said… both the hot bar and Indian food (my first time trying it too!). Now I am dead set on making my own Indian (although I hear its hard to re-create those flavors at home – challange ?!)

    Have a great Sunday G!

This was such a cute post!! Your babies are beautiful and that’s definitely my kind of race. I can’t wait until I have a dog of my own to take out.
I hope you have a great day off 🙂 I wish I was in Orlando so that I could hit up the food & wine festival, but I’ve got plans in Port Orange today.

I love that you are so go-with-the-flow and just decided to have fun at home anyway. I think your puppy .5k was superior anyway—just look at the sportsmanship of the contestants! 😉

Pumpkin oats with goji berries sounds amazing! I wish I had some gojis and nibs so I could try it :). But really, when ISN’T an excuse to eat pumpkin good? 😛

Good call on saving your cash, saving the drive time (like your rationale if the race is shorter than the drive time why bother!) and just having a more leisurely day. I have made that very call before, too. I do it also w/ my gym who’s child care closes by noon. Some days it’s way more stressful to drive to the gym, rush to get myself and kiddo outta the house, park in the ramp, walk to gym, etc. only to have a very short time at the actual gym. On those days I am wayyyyy more efficient w/ my 12 lb dumbbells, my yoga mat, and my exercise balls.

    Enjoy your day off!!

    🙂
