One of the perks about making goodies for other people?

roon

Making sure they taste ok 😉

[Side note: roon with almond butter may be the most insane combo ever]

Sending roons for the giveaway winner + a batch to an unsuspecting reader tomorrow!

Today at work was my lucky day. I got to assist 3 dance classes – it’s like the schedule jackpot for me when that happens. The girl who usually assists Bellydance is on her honeymoon, so that was one of them. I LOVE bellydance.. and now take the belly aspect of the dance to an entirely different level.

Stopped at home for lunch and made a copycat salad beast.

I couldn’t get Sunday night’s salad out of my brain, so I made my own with

-greens

-pomegranate arils (here’s a post on how to separate the arils)

-goat cheese

-almonds

-walnut oil, red wine vinegar, sea salt, pepper

+ an egg puff

I’m back at the house and about to make some dinner before we take Bell for her nightly excursion.

Enjoy your evening and I’ll see ya in the morning with a Focus On post!

Something to talk about: Your favorite Halloween movie! To be real, I hate creepy movies. I used to love them back in the day, but as I got older, I just didn’t enjoy them anymore at all. The last scary movie I saw –I can’t even remember what it was- my bro had to come to my apartment and sleep on my futon to protect me. [He’s such a nice brother] I do, however, LOVE the movie Hocus Pocus 🙂

Thinking I need to watch it at least once before Halloween season is over.

Today’s tip: This is your friendly reminder to take 5 minutes to foam roll or stretch before bed! Dooooooo it <3

***Thank you for all of the San Diego tips this morning! I knew I could count on you for amazing suggestions. We’re so excited to plan out our trip.

Hmmm. I would have to go with any of the Charlie Brown movies! I watched them all of the time with my parents when I was younger, so they have a very special place in my heart. 🙂

Haha I bet both of my brothers would do that for me, but but would both be thinking “oh my god, why is my sister sooo dumb…” the whole time, lol.

hahaha omg Sarah Jessica Parker looks far from her Sex and the City days. Too funny!

I hate scary movies…well really more like horror movies. I do enjoy thrillers like The Sixth Sense, What Lies Beneath etc. But movies like Saw and Hostel? Yuck. No thank you!

  6. Lizzie on October 20, 2011 at 8:59 am

Wait, am I one of the only readers who actually LOVES scary movies?! Horror is my favorite movie genre and Halloween is my favorite holiday. Like I literally watch them by myself in the dark sometimes and have done that since I was a child. I’m such a creep! haha

  7. Rhiannon on October 20, 2011 at 9:07 am

I can’t do scary movies anymore either. They lead to lots of sleepless nights and me running from the garage to the house in a dead sprint!! LOL I love the Peanuts cartoons for any season! And I’m a big fan of Practical Magic. Not specifically a Halloween movie, but I love to watch it that time of year!

  8. anne on October 20, 2011 at 9:17 am

So funny — I used to be into super scary movies too. Halloween… the Shining… now I’m such a chicken I can’t watch scary movies even if I already have seen them like 20 times!

Your brother is a sweetie pie to come guard you from the boogie man. What a nice guy!

  12. Michelle @ Turning Over a New Leaf on October 20, 2011 at 10:24 am

I’m a huge sucker for cheesy 90’s Halloween movies (Casper, Addam’s Family, etc.)! I also absolutely LOVE Tim Burton! I have this growing collection. In fact, I have an entire shelf dedicated to storing my halloween + Christmas movies!

  13. Anastasia on October 20, 2011 at 10:35 am

Doing taste tests is definitely the best part of baking for others :]

I *love* Hocus Pocus! Around this time I also love watching Beetlejuice, Elvira, Ernest Scared Stupid (haha), and Addams Family. I always get super excited for ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween.. so much fun!

I love Hocus Pocus, its one of my must watch Halloween movies every year. Same with Teen Witch 🙂

  16. Ali @ Around the VeggieTable on October 20, 2011 at 10:49 am

I have to go with Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin 🙂 I don’t mind a scary movie every once in a while now that my fiance lives with me, but if I had to spend the night alone I could NOT do it. I have nightmares constantly and scary movies definitely don’t help. I am also enjoying reading everyone’s comments on this today!

  17. Katie @ Plates and Paste on October 20, 2011 at 11:35 am

LOVE Hocus Pocus! I’m right there with you on scary movies…mostly because I hate being startled and having things jump out at me…I have enough anxiety in real life, don’t need a movie to increase it haha 🙂

  18. Leah on October 20, 2011 at 11:54 am

    I LOVE Hocus Pocus!

  19. Christina on October 20, 2011 at 11:59 am

I pretty much had the same salad for lunch yesterday and it was AMAZING!!! I really wish I made time to make one for today 🙁

And holy macaroonssssss!!! I absolutely love ‘roons but haven’t had them in ages. I really need to make them!!

  20. Molly on October 20, 2011 at 12:10 pm

I love when I do my own copy cat version and it comes out better 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 20, 2011 at 9:34 pm

it was fantastic! the almonds at the restaurant were better, but other than that, it tasted the same

  22. Anna @ The Guiltless Life on October 20, 2011 at 12:27 pm

Hocus Pocus is pretty awesome. In fact, I think in general movies were better 10 years ago :(!

  23. Conni on October 20, 2011 at 12:41 pm

    • Fitnessista on October 20, 2011 at 9:34 pm

i’m sure they do! i forgot about that one 🙂

  25. Kim on October 20, 2011 at 1:23 pm

I absolutely love the movie Hocus Pocus. I’m also a big fan of the Halloweentown series – luckily they play those on tv every year before halloween 🙂

  26. Sonia (the Mexigarian) on October 20, 2011 at 3:15 pm

Love Hocus Pocus! I always love the song SJP sings when she calls the children on her broom. And the cat/ghost guy was pretty cute 🙂

I used to love horror movies as well, but now I’m not into them too much. The original Halloween still gives me chills but I *have* to watch it as tradition. If I want a good scare, I’d just watch Scariest Places on Earth, Ghost Adventures and Dead Files on Travel channel. I end up sleeping with the lights on surrounded by stuffed animals and Lando (our puppy) and the two cats. Though Lando is a big sissy. lol.

  27. Tee @ She Writes, Bites, and Window Shops on October 20, 2011 at 3:31 pm

oh my gosh I LOVE Hocus Pocus! And I totally agree- I have grown out of the typical horror movies. They give me nightmares!

  28. Tamar on October 20, 2011 at 4:24 pm

Hocus Pocus is on ABC family tonight! I was just thinking about that movie, and just set the DVR to tape it while I’m at work. 🙂

  29. Amy Sz on October 20, 2011 at 4:54 pm

Love the egg puff! If you don’t mind, I’m going to link to that video in my blog this week. 🙂

  30. Shaina on October 20, 2011 at 6:56 pm

why is it that we love scary movies as teenagers and then once we’re old enough to realize what’s actually going on we can’t do it anymore? takes all the fun out of it!
