Raining Sweat Circuit

Hi friends 🙂 Thank you for all of the Caro tips! I can always count on you for great advice- just ordered her some antler treats to chew on since latest object of destruction was a bamboo spatula.

Last night was girls’ night: Liv, myself, Bella and Caroline.  The Pilot has his Master’s class on Wednesday nights, so he’s stuck at the computer with a headset on.

Me and caro

Liv and I enjoyed our enchilada dinner together:

mine, atop salad

Enchiladas 1 of 1 2

(little lady LOVES enchiladas, rice and beans! She also had some avocado and cucumber)

played, read, had a salsa dance party,

and after she went to bed, I enjoyed a magazine,

Mag 1 of 1

glass of wine, and some very important television shows.

Vino 1 of 1

(Kardashians, which was quickly switched to The Bachelor. I still can’t believe Kacie B. was BACK! And so much more intense… I loved it)

It was a struggle to drink that wine, because it kind hurts to lift my arms.. but I managed 😉 I’ve been trying to get back into real, heavy lifting and can’t believe how sore my arms are today! When I tested out the last Winter Shape Up workout, I knew it was going to be a doozy, but… wow.

Since I don’t want to keep all of the soreness to myself, I’ll share a little with ya.

How about a little cardio/strength circuit?

This one is meant to be completed in 3 rounds, as quickly as you can with proper form (<— key words there)

Be sure to warm up and cool down with this workout, and as always, honor your body and modify as needed. Check with a doc before making any fitness changes, too, mmm k <3

Hope you enjoy!

Raining sweat

If you give it a try, let me know how it goes! Even better: send me a sweaty pic @fitnessista

On that note, I’m off to teach Buff Booty and Glide. My legs heard my arms were sore and wanted to join the party 😉

xoxo

Gina

I don’t have a kettleball, can I use a weight or something else instead?

    • Fitnessista on January 24, 2013 at 2:44 pm

dumbbell, just hold onto it tightly!

  2. Alisha @ Alisha's Appetite on January 24, 2013 at 2:42 pm

Yup. Doing this workout tomorrow morning! Thanks for always posting awesome workouts- excited to join the winter-shape up (the first time I’ll actually be following along live!) Hope your arms recover quickly!

Fun workout! Definitely perfect for those days you’d rather not leave the house because inside is just much better! Ah, the Bachelor. I actually haven’t found myself really loving it so far this season! No clue why.

    • Fitnessista on January 24, 2013 at 2:58 pm

i hate it and love it every single season haha

i had so much respect for katie tho. to be like wow all these girls are really fake and i don’t want to be a part of it… way to rep the blog word haha 🙂

Your arms look amazing! My arms have always been a problem spot for me, and though I like to keep up with doing weights exercises, for me the key to sleek arms always seems to come back to old school cardio and proper diet/nutrition choices. Thanks for posting the circuit workout…will definitely be trying it out!

Can I please request a kettlebell video? I’d love a tutorial on some basic exercises to do with them. They are the one thing in the gym I’m scared of because I just don’t know what to do with them.

    • Fitnessista on January 24, 2013 at 3:30 pm

i only know about 4 moves with the kettlebell and am not a pro by any means. maybe i can ask my friend mitch to do one for me?

      • Sheena on January 24, 2013 at 4:40 pm

I second this request. I know that kettlebells are a great workout tool but honestly I have no idea what to do with them. I would just pick them up and start swinging around but I don’t want to hurt myself. 🙁

        • Fitnessista on January 24, 2013 at 5:55 pm

i could do a video on a swing- it’s one of my favorite moves right now 🙂

Here’s a link to some of the basic moves from Women’s health. Love kettlebells because you can get in a full body workout

    Looks like a fun circuit.
Since you put pull-ups in, I have a question for you? Do you do assisted pull-ups or can you do tht many full out pull-ups? I have tried but even when I build up I don’t think I can do 10 unassisted.
Love watching The Bachelor – favorite treadmill show ever (mindless entertainment)!

    • Fitnessista on January 25, 2013 at 1:19 am

nope, i can only do about 3. i like assisted pull-ups for better form and can still really challenge myself

I slipped over the weekend on some gravel and smashed both my knees into the sidewalk from upright position…workouts have been very scarce because I don’t want to put any pressure on my knees, as they are incredibly bruised and hurting! I know taking care of myself is most important, and I have a half coming up that I start training for in a couple weeks so its even more important, but it’s so hard to not beat myself up over it! I’m always like…am I being too cautious? I could probably be fine on the elliptical for 30 minutes but just don’t want to chance it. I’m sure other people have dealt with the same injury discouragement before, how do y’all handle it? Sorry for my novel of a comment…

However, it has allowed me to come to a new appreciation for yoga! I’m not gonna lie, I used to think it was dumb or “not a good enough workout” when I was a teenager but obviously I was totally wrong…LOVE it! And I can’t wait to try this workout once I’m healed!

Wine and the Kardashians 🙂 love. I just worked my legs BIG TIME last night. TIme to rest and foam roll for now

  9. Danielle on January 24, 2013 at 4:12 pm

Sounds like the perfect “girls” night for you and Liv! So much fun 🙂

  10. Rebecca on January 24, 2013 at 4:20 pm

10 pull-ups? I can’t even do one! I’ve been working on lowering myself from the bar but that’s it. How long did it take you to be able to do them (or could you always do them)?

    • Fitnessista on January 25, 2013 at 1:18 am

no way, i can do 3 unassisted. i just use the assisted pull-up machine, or do the type where i jump up into the pull-up and ease down slowly

  11. Beks on January 24, 2013 at 4:41 pm

Hooray for lifting heavy! I just started at the new year and am shocked how quickly my body adjusts to heavier weights! Now if only the fat would melt off as fast as the muscle seems to be building. 🙂

And that pic of you and Caroline is adorable.

  12. Nikole on January 24, 2013 at 4:48 pm

Is there a way to do pull ups at home or a different exercise that can do the same thing? I have a small home gym but no pull up bar.
    Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on January 24, 2013 at 5:54 pm

do you have a resistance band? or some heavy dumbbells? try a resistance band lat pulldown or a row instead

  13. sara @ fitcupcaker on January 24, 2013 at 4:51 pm

Mmm… enchiladas and wine sound so good right about now! That workout looks very sweaty indeed – might have to give it a try!

  15. Amy on January 24, 2013 at 9:22 pm

10 pullups?! 3x?!?! are you kidding?!

    • Fitnessista on January 25, 2013 at 12:32 am

      with ONE HAND only. haha
assisted or modified is totally fine!

  16. Bek @ Crave on January 25, 2013 at 3:55 am

    Love kettlebell swings with squats!

  17. Jen on January 25, 2013 at 7:28 am

Thank you so much for this workout! I did it this morning at the gym. It was such a nice change from my normal routine. I managed to do it all three times, which I never thought I would be able to do. I wish I had taken a nice sweaty pic because by then end, my hair was drenched! 🙂 It took me about 45 minutes from start to the end of stretching at the end. Man, do my arms ache! The good ache though. Have an awesome weekend! Thanks again!

The Raining Sweat Workout rocked! (+ my workout music was the Les Mis soundtrack…glorious)

    • Fitnessista on January 26, 2013 at 1:03 am
