Random Celebration

Hi guys! HAPPY FRIDAY! What are you up to this weekend?

Last night, when my aunt and cousins got home, we went over to Urban Flats.

urban flatts

I can’t believe I had never been- it was AWESOME 😀 (Pilot, you would love it)

It all started with one of these Carrie-esque beauties:

cosmo

A cosmo 🙂

We got two appetizers for all of us to share.

The flatbread and dips:

hummus

(Different types of hummus and an olive tapenade. And yes, my cousin was studying at the restaurant. Dedication, right there)

Crab cakes:

crab cakes

And for our entrees, my aunt I do this quite often when we can’t decide: I get one, she gets the other and we share 😀

Maple-mustard glazed salmon (totally going to replicate this at home)

salmon

Tuny and a chickpea stack (also going to replicate at home)

tuna

Since it was ladies night (half-priced drinks and entrees), we each got free dessert.

brulee

Creme brulee.

I scraped off the whipped cream (hoo-ipped cream as Stewie would say) and just ate the crunchy top. I’m just not a big creme brulee fan.

I am, however, a huge fondue fan 😉

fondue (2)

Just go ahead and put me on a stick, and dip me into some of this:

fondue

Amazing.

Not bad for a random Thursday night celebration 😀

My cousin Emily and I:

me and em

As ya’ll might have noticed, I’ve been indulging in treat night a little more often here in Orlando. I usually don’t have the “I’m on vacation” mentality, but this week I’ve been living it up and it’s all been on things that I really want to eat and drink 😉 So I’m just gonna roll with it and keep getting in awesome, fun workouts to balance everything out.

Today, I’m going to go for a short run and I think Em and I are headed to Universal Studios- I haven’t been since my nana took me when I was 8!

Have a great day <3

hmmm…I wonder if those haters who said you “ban” food have been following your latest posts and see that you indulge in some things and enjoy yourself! 🙂 I’m so glad you are having so much fun; I’m totally jealous of all your good eats!

    • Fitnessista on April 9, 2010 at 9:11 am

hahah seriously! i think about that every time i get a mean comment. i want to invite them out to dinner with me so they can watch me stuff my face, have a drink and go after some dessert 😉

    • Fitnessista on April 9, 2010 at 9:27 am

  19. Emily on April 9, 2010 at 9:25 am

I celebrated some small achievements this week (got something published) so I was also a little bit in vacay-mode. I may or may not have drank a couple glasses of champagne both Wed. and Thursday. Topped with sushi, brownies, and some other foods I usually don’t get to enjoy, I’m gonig to spend this weekend cleaning up my eats, working out, and spring cleaning. Should balance out my craziness from the week a little!

    • Fitnessista on April 9, 2010 at 9:27 am

      congratulations!!! <3

  20. Christina on April 9, 2010 at 9:26 am

  21. Laura J. on April 9, 2010 at 9:31 am

I’m envious of every single thing you’ve eaten this week!! Nom Nom! 🙂

To bad you can’t tweet “Hey haters! What was that about my restrictive eating?” 😉

    Have fun at Universal!

    • Fitnessista on April 9, 2010 at 9:34 am

bahaha. i think those comments come from people who don’t really read the blog very often. because everyone else knows, i LOVE my sweets…and wine 🙂

  22. Katalina on April 9, 2010 at 9:38 am

    Nice very nice and delicious!
Quick question, did you have flatbread too?

    • Fitnessista on April 9, 2010 at 9:42 am

of course i did 🙂 it was wheat!

      • Shelly on April 9, 2010 at 11:02 am

So glad I’m not the only one who scrapes cool whip (hoo-ipp!) off the top of my desserts. It’s just not my favorite and combined with the sugar from my desserts, it makes my tummy feel wonky anyway. (I also do the same thing with a lot of store bought cake icing- I think it detracts from the cake!)

  23. Lauren @ Eater not a runner on April 9, 2010 at 9:42 am

So glad you are treating yourself, looks like an awesome trip 🙂

  24. Paige (Running Around Normal) on April 9, 2010 at 9:50 am

That dinner looks absolutely fabulous and almost makes me wish I ate fish again!!
That chickpea stack sounds awesome, haha.
I think it’s great you’re letting yourself indulge a bit. But you’re also getting in some kick-booty, fun, exercise!

  25. Babycakes on April 9, 2010 at 9:53 am

    Have fun at Universal!!!

  26. Ian on April 9, 2010 at 10:17 am

Love that family guy episode 😛

  27. Joelle (The Pancake Girl) on April 9, 2010 at 10:25 am

I LOVE random celebrations! They’re the best! PLus, that flatbrad looks bomb.

    Have a great Friday!

  28. Astrid on April 9, 2010 at 10:26 am

Gina, there is no need to explain that you are treating yourself. You deserve it. If you love flatbread, dessert, and yummy drinks, have some once in a while! You work out, you are gorgeous, and you deserve to have your treats without guilt. I am so glad that Florida is being so great for you. Have fun at Universal Studios. Is Harry Potter open yet? I want to go so badly!!

  29. Catherine on April 9, 2010 at 10:26 am

I’ve shockingly never been to Orlando or any Disney/Universal Studios type locale. I know, my childhood was a sham 😉

Looks like a fun dinner – I sometimes have a hard time being in vacation-mode as well and letting loose bc I’m a little type-A, but fun food and great workouts is a perf way to balance things!

  30. Nicole on April 9, 2010 at 10:26 am

yummmy, your girls night out looked like fun! I love cosmos:) Its nice to see that you can have your cake and eat it too and STILL rock a toned bod like you! Love your new top xoxo

  34. ari on April 9, 2010 at 10:52 am

hey girl. so i’m wondering, what are your thoughts on stirring spirulina into your oatmeal/oat bran? do you think the heat damages the enzymes too much so it’s a waste?
i live in a dorm and don’t have a blender and i’m looking for ways to incorporate spirulina into my diet (and i’m NOT drinking it straight. so nasty). thanks for your help!

    • Fitnessista on April 9, 2010 at 12:00 pm

hmm, i probably wouldn’t do it. try stirring it into a breakfast cookie, overnight oats or some yogurt of choice 🙂

  35. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on April 9, 2010 at 10:53 am

Oh fun! Did not know your full name was Angelina, but I love that Israel gave you the full espanish pronunciation. I used to have a roommate named Angelita, and she pronounced it Anneleeda to make it easier on the gringos, but it’s much more fun to say it Ahn-hghey-lee-ta if you ask me. 🙂

  36. Heather @ get healthy with Heather on April 9, 2010 at 10:53 am

How awesome is that ladies night dinner! Everthing looks amazing and the maple mustard sauce, yum was a great idea.

  37. Sally on April 9, 2010 at 11:06 am

Wow what a great looking dinner. I am going out tonight with the ladies but I’m afraid our options include Outback and, um, Outback. I’m afraid my region of the country is not as epicurean as I might prefer! That picture of you and your cousin is so cute, clearly good looks run in the family. Have a fabulous day!

  38. Elizabeth on April 9, 2010 at 11:20 am

the “hoo-ipped cracks me up. Your cousin is beautiful! Oh man would I kill for that hair!

    • Fitnessista on April 9, 2010 at 12:00 pm

for real. she gives me major hair envy! i always ask if we can trade hair 🙂

  39. Leigh@modelinghealth on April 9, 2010 at 11:20 am

Looks like a fun night! Enjoy your day.

  42. Katherine on April 9, 2010 at 1:12 pm

Is Urban Flats a chain? I run by one in Atlanta but thought it was a trendy single restaurant that opened up in front of ‘flats’ condo complex.

  43. Ashley (whole-ier) on April 9, 2010 at 1:16 pm

Love the Stewie reference- I say cool whip like him all the time now.

Let us know how the new Harry Potter attraction is!

  45. Allison @ Food For Healing on April 9, 2010 at 1:36 pm

totally jealous! I want to go to Orlando so bad!

that food all looks so amazing, i wish Sask had places like that to eat.

  46. Rebecca @ How the Cookies Crumble on April 9, 2010 at 1:49 pm

I looooooove creme brulee. I’m not a big dessert person but that would definitely be my favorite – sans hoo-ipped cream! 🙂 I love “vacation” mentality. It’s totally worth it to me to work my butt off so I can indulge on food and drinks while vacationing.

  47. Christina on April 9, 2010 at 1:56 pm

My Dad and I do the same thing with entrees on vacation. There are always too many things that sound delicious!

  48. Jessica @ The Process of Healing on April 9, 2010 at 5:23 pm

So that is totally like a meal made in heaven! Crab cakes, salmon, tuna… my favorite things! Add in chocolate fondue and it’s pure perfection!
I think it’s great that you are allowing yourself to indulge a bit! Indulging is good for the soul. And you know, a few extra drinks and desserts isn’t going to make you gain 10 pounds overnight!

  49. courtnwhit on April 9, 2010 at 7:29 pm

I have always wanted to go to a restaurant with fondue!

  50. Salah@myhealthiestlifestyle on April 10, 2010 at 10:47 am
