Rawgasm

Hi friends! Hope you had a fabulous weekend! <3

Catching up on the blogworld?

I’m in NYC! (apparently home of the Naked Cowboy)

-Took my first Physique 57 class, which made my legs beg for mercy

After the workout, I came back to the hotel, did the blog thang, and then met 3 lovely ladies for dinner at Pure Food and Wine: Gabriela, Katie and Diana.

Pure Food and Wine is my second favorite restaurant of all time. (Bobby Flay takes first place)

The food is raw, fresh and beautifully presented. Everything that I could wish for Smile

We shared the raw cheese and cracker plate with blueberries and rosemary crisps.

crackers

Even though they’re nut-based, raw cheeses taste remarkably like the real thing and the rosemary crisps are perfect.

I also got a Master Cleanse Tini (with lemon, cayenne, maple syrup, sake and ginger)

tini

For the entrée, I was so stoked to try the S&M salad. It isn’t on the menu (it’s a One Lucky Duck item, which is owned by the same company and is takeout-only, next door), but they said they’d be happy to make me one. I’ve only had it homemade and the PFW version was even better than I thought it would be

salad

-Rosemary crackers

-avocado

-greens

-dulse

-hemp seeds

-lemon vinaigrette

The salad was HUGE too. Definitely qualified as a salad beast Smile

Gabriela and I also shared the raw tamales, which I ordered last time I went to Pure Food and Wine:

tamales

The *masa* is made of cashews and corn, with pico de gallo, cashew sour cream, mole sauce and guacamole. Amazing.

And as if things couldn’t get any better….

megabriela

dianakatie

DESSERT! Smile

We ordered different desserts and shared bites. I can’t even tell you which one was the best… I loved them all.

I chose the salted caramel chocolate tart:

tart

The outside part of the tart was slightly crunchy, like a chewy cookie and the inner part was soft and gooey. It was served with a caramel sauce and a coconut mousse with cacao nibs and maple sugar. I die.

Diana and Gabriela ordered the mint chocolate chip sundae, with raw mint cookie bites

sundae

and Katie chose the pumpkin cheesecake parfait.

cheesecake

LOVE how they served it in a wine glass!!

It was an amazing dinner and it was such a blasty chatting with the girls Smile

After Gabriela hailed a cab for me –I wasn’t quite sure how to do it, haha- I came back to the hotel and crashed into a raw food baby slumber.

This morning, I’m off to be trained by two celebrity trainers!! Not gonna lie, I’m a little nervous, but way excited to learn some new tricks. I’ll be filming all of it on the Flip, too Smile

See ya later today!

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: Which dish are you most excited about making this Thanksgiving? I can’t wait to make a gluten-free version of my stuffing recipe and a raw pumpkin pie- I think the fam will love them.

Hahah hailing a cab in the city can be intimidating. The food looks delish, especially the desserts! I am going to have to go there! Good luck with the rest of your trip in the city 🙂

Mmmm, that food there sounds amazing! I’m drooling over those desserts… one of each for me please! I’m looking forward to making the autumn mac & cheese, from Jessica @ How Sweet It Is. I made it last week and it was sooo good!

Those desserts look so good! I’m not making anything for Thanksgiving–I’m visiting family–but I’m most psyched for the sweet potato casserole.

  9. Lana on November 15, 2010 at 7:52 am

I wish I was at pure with y’all! It looks amazing!
We aren’t making a traditional thanksgiving meal this year because we are going camping, but I’m going to a cooking class titled, ‘vegetarian thanksgiving’ at whole foods and am so excited!!
    Enjoy you Monday!

In Heaven I’m going back to have the exact same thing for breakfast this morning.

In my dreams we met for another meal at a restaurant where we each get to sit in a jacuzzi filled with oats, coconut and cinnamon. The waiters give us each a spoon and a jar of almond butter and we eat our way out of the tubs. I can’t believe that was actually my dream last night. Seriously.

In reality I’m going to sit at a desk all day. Close enough…?

Enjoy the rest of your visit! xo

    • Fitnessista on November 15, 2010 at 9:36 am

that’s pretty much the best dream ever 🙂

  16. Jenny on November 15, 2010 at 8:40 am

I do love pumpkin pie, but I think I’m most looking forward to my mom’s stuffed mushrooms.

  17. Amanda (Eating Up) on November 15, 2010 at 9:00 am

Pure Food & Wine is one of my favorite restaurants! I got the pizettes and the strawberry shortcake when I went there: most flavorful food ever. And I was STUFFED when I left!

  21. Katie on November 15, 2010 at 10:13 am

Whoa, all those desserts kick ass! For Thanksgiving, I might have to recreate the “pie” that I posted on my blog today… it’s pumpkin/peanut butter HEAVEN!! 🙂

  26. Heather @ get healthy with Heather on November 15, 2010 at 10:53 am

I’m super excited to make my cranberry sauce and whole wheat pumpkin rolls! I can’t wait to hear about your trainer time. Bet it’ll be a blast 🙂

  29. Lisa on November 15, 2010 at 1:51 pm

I have never been to pure food and wine. I am allergic to nuts and I know pretty much everything there is made with cashews, but my sisters goes all the time and shes obsessEd!

  30. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on November 15, 2010 at 2:03 pm

So jealous of your Pure Food and Wine meal! Last time I was in NYC, I didn’t have time for a sit-down dinner there, so I only got to indulge in some One Lucky Duck goodies! (Raw Mallomar = HEAVEN!!) Next time I visit, that’s on my “must” list!

For Thanksgiving, I’m looking forward to making my raw pumpkin cheesecake! My husband is an incredibly picky eater, and since he loves it, I’m hoping it will be a hit!

  31. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on November 15, 2010 at 2:40 pm

“be trained by two celebrity trainers!!”— OMG congrats, how fun, how amazing…can’t wait for the details! How it was, what you learned, etc!

But going out with Diana & Katie (have been reading their blogs for a couple years!) and would love!!!!!! to meet them!

Met you and Diana at FBuzz briefly but it was such a chaotic surreal time, that going out for dinner, as a 4some, to an amazing place..wow, what a great nite you girls all had!

Of course the great food, the lovely desserts, the awesome company…spending time w/ girls, going out, food and drink…in nyc, that’s what it’s all about. So glad you’re having a blast!!!!!!!!

  32. fittingbackin on November 15, 2010 at 2:45 pm

Fun! That tart looks amazing and it looks like you girls had a great time – very cool!

I can’t wait to make sinful mac & cheese paula dean style – it’s on!

  33. Ellen on November 15, 2010 at 2:56 pm

What kind of GF bread are you using for the stuffing? I am making all the stuffing for my family and it is going to be all gluten free (i cannot eat gluten) but I’m a little worried about the type of bread to use. This is the first GF Thanksgiving and I want to make sure no one misses the gluten! Thanks!

  34. Sana on November 15, 2010 at 3:36 pm

I can’t wait to hear who the celeb trainer is!

  35. Clare @ Fitting It All In on November 15, 2010 at 4:07 pm

Well now I’m excited to make your stuffing!!

And those desserts look INSANE. A raw sundae!?

  36. Megan (Braise The Roof) on November 15, 2010 at 4:45 pm

I’m usually in charge of the veggies, and I have a few new dishes that I’m excited to try out. New recipes on a major holiday? Dangerous, but I’ll take the challenge.

  37. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on November 15, 2010 at 6:15 pm

What fun! I’m excited for home-cooked food! Though it isn’t the healthiest, there is something about the warmth of any mom’s cooking 🙂

  38. Amy on November 15, 2010 at 6:33 pm

The food looks great, but I was wondering where you got your necklace? I have been looking for a delicate cross, and have been out of luck.

    • Fitnessista on November 15, 2010 at 7:25 pm

      steel’s jewelry in valdosta 🙂

      • Amy on November 19, 2010 at 8:25 am

        Thanks 🙂

  39. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on November 15, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Looks like a fab night! Especially since it ended with such amazing desserts!

Our Canadian Thanksgiving is long over, but I always look forward to the pumpkin pie the most! I think I might need to start celebrating American Thanksgiving too, just so that I can have pumpkin pie again! 😉

  40. Kristin on November 15, 2010 at 7:21 pm

I’m so excited to see what you post for the gluten free version of your stuffing. I’ve been looking for a gluten free version, and so far all I found was a rice based one, which would do, but doesn’t seem the same.

  41. kt on November 16, 2010 at 2:14 am

Pure Food and Wine is my dream restaurant! You are so lucky. I think the raw eatery nearest to me is 1500 miles away. I want to plan future vacations around raw restaurants!

  42. Whitney English on November 16, 2010 at 1:28 pm

The tamales look amazing!! Do you have a recipe?

    • Fitnessista on November 16, 2010 at 5:35 pm
