Secretly Special Beast

Hiiiii 🙂 How are you guys doing? Hope you’ve had a wonderful day <3 I’m so glad you liked the post on how to create a workout schedule! Keep those reader’s requests coming 😀

Sorry I’m a little late posting today, the pilot has been home… and he’s distracting. 😉

Bfast was a bowl of overnight chia protein oats:

oats

-1/2 C oats

-1 C almond milk

-1/2 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior

-1 T chia seeds

-1/2 banana

I also had half of an almond butter chocolate chip cookie that was staring me in the face 😉

Snackage:

bread

Kamut bread with AB + jelly

Beast:

salad

This salad beast looks pretty ordinary, but had some fun ingredients:

Garlic Gold olive oil

-Fig vinegar

-Kamut “croutons” (I just spray them with nonstick spray, season and bake for 7 minutes at 350)

Garlic Gold crunchies

-Melting Pot Wine and Garlic seasoning

Amazin’.

I went up to the yoga room this morning and *tried* to do this new Core Fusion DVD.

022

I lasted about 15 minutes before I turned it off. It’s a good DVD from what I can tell, but was very slow-paced and I got a little ADD. I’ll give it another try sometime soon and will post a full review for ya’ll then 🙂

Time to coerce the pilot into helping me clean >:)

Plan for the day:

Post office

-Cardio

-Training appointments

Dog park w/ the girls

Have a great day and I’ll see ya later!

xoxo,

Gina

Shopping time!

Aurorae yoga mats are 15% off! Just enter the code “YogaGina” at checkout 🙂

-Lucy has an additional 30% off sale items- I hit it up pretty fiercely (and the pilot busted me when he came downstairs and I was sitting at the computer with my debit card, buahah) 😀

Girl, don’t you have the debit card # memorized? I do… and it makes online shopping that much more dangerous. So happy that I can corrupt you, hehe.

i did, until they sent me a new one! my other one expired so i have all new numbers to memorize….

  5. Marilou @ Mostly Healthy on July 20, 2010 at 12:30 pm

  6. Shanna on July 20, 2010 at 12:31 pm

I so get ADD on videos too..or maybe just in the summer..not sure. Love that you may go for it again!

  7. Tina on July 20, 2010 at 12:37 pm

I certainly need upbeat workout DVDs to maintain motivation. I have a very limited selection of instructors that I actually enjoy working out with at home.

  8. Allie (Live Laugh Eat) on July 20, 2010 at 12:40 pm

I always get ADD during workout videos. I walk away and grab a snack (oops) or check my email haha. I guess that’s what group fitness classes are for 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 20, 2010 at 1:02 pm

      en girl
OR high intensity boredom-free dvds like insanity and turbofire 🙂

  9. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on July 20, 2010 at 12:43 pm

Haha, I always sneak the credit card out of my wallet. I really should memorize it! One of my biggest DVD peeves is when’s so slow, so thanks for the review!

  10. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on July 20, 2010 at 12:43 pm

Ha ha, my husband totally busted me for online shopping today, too! (I have the credit card # memorized at this point… that’s a bad sign, I guess!)

Saw this link and thought it would be great for the links you usually add to the bottom of your posts: Portion Control Quiz on Prevention’s website: http://www.prevention.com/portioncontrol/

    • Fitnessista on July 20, 2010 at 1:01 pm

  12. Megan @ averymeggirl on July 20, 2010 at 12:49 pm

Thanks for passing along the Lucy sale! As the smoothie queen of wellness blogs I was wondering, have you had ever tried avocado in your mixes? I’m reading a book (Revive, by Dr. Frank Lipman… think you’d love it)and he says “I dream about my morning smoothies”. There are 9 different recipes, most of which incorporate avocado as the healthy fat source. Trying the first recipe tomorrow…

    • Fitnessista on July 20, 2010 at 1:00 pm

yes, avocados are excellent in smoothies! they give it a great creamy texture, too 🙂

  14. rachael on July 20, 2010 at 12:51 pm

I was trying to forget about the lucy sale! Barefoot Yoga is also having an awesome sale- 25% everything for 3 days.

    • Fitnessista on July 20, 2010 at 12:59 pm

      whoo hoo!

  15. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on July 20, 2010 at 12:56 pm

Girl back in the day (well I still do) but I have my Amex card #’s MEMORIZED. That’s how sick my online shopping habit was! I can key those digits in faster than you can say Sale at Neiman’s. All the codes, exp dates, etc. Memory. And I can do it for my Amex and my debit card so I can really spend money, quickly. Never even have to get up from my desk chair. Don’t you wish you had these talents? 🙂

Have a great day hon! Sorry bout the slow moving Dvd. Not fun.

    xo

    • Fitnessista on July 20, 2010 at 12:59 pm

haha i DID have those talents, until they sent me a new debit card last month! all new numbers to memorize….
      🙂

  18. Holly @ couchpotatoathlete.wordpress.com on July 20, 2010 at 1:40 pm

I used to have my visa # memorized — but same thing happened to me! New card came and I can only remember the old one! Aah, memories!

I’ve been doing TurboFire for the past week and a half and I LOVE that it is fast paced, but not super confusing. I too have attention issues when a dvd is slow!

  19. Alycia @ Fit n Fresh on July 20, 2010 at 1:43 pm

I think keeping my card in my purse really cuts back on my impulsing buying lol but I so do love new workout clothes…

Way to bring your corruption on me! (:

Id love t know your opinion of a good yoga/pilates DVD. ive been wanting to get more into it, but i find going to actual ‘classes’ abit daunting. i dont have alot of time to get to the arranged classes (they are aways at such random times!) plus all those people ooohing and ahhhing freaks me out abit!!!
id love to do a good yoga workout at home, but dont know where to look. help me out fitnessista!

  25. Vicky on July 20, 2010 at 5:56 pm

the overnite oats is my new favorite breakfast – probably since it is eaten cold and ready to go after my workout.
I haven’t seen you post about TurboFire lately. Are you still doing it? Every time I do the Fire 30 I think of you!

  26. Hannah on July 20, 2010 at 6:10 pm

How did you get that dvd?!? I thought it didn’t come out until late August?…

    • Fitnessista on July 20, 2010 at 7:18 pm

  27. Jill@MySoCalledHealthLife on July 20, 2010 at 6:14 pm

I hate getting caught in the shopping act! I went out tonight and snuck a few articles from loft in. Not that Joey really cares, it’s just sometimes better if he doesnt know 😉

  28. Katie (Sweet Tater) on July 20, 2010 at 7:16 pm

i just reviewed this one for dvd talk. my thoughts exactly. boooooring.

I love how something as simple as using a new dressing or adding a new ingredient can totally change a salad!

  30. Sarra H on July 20, 2010 at 8:01 pm

Salad looks so yummy! i love how you’re so creative with your meals :). Do you think you could do a post on yoga (if you haven’t already done so), how to start doing yoga and the benefits of it? I’ve never tried yoga before and would love to start 🙂

  31. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on July 20, 2010 at 8:18 pm

Hahaha. I never spend money so I think my parents get excited when I do!

  32. Nicole on July 20, 2010 at 9:07 pm

LOVE homemade croutons. Seriously, why even buy some from the store? We have the ability to add anything to them… anyyythinngg.. chia seeds perhaps? Dude! When I was a kid.. I remember them days when I would skip the greens + eat off all the croutons I could find. If only I knew that those greens would be oh so fabulous.

  33. Dori on July 20, 2010 at 10:06 pm

Funny that the DVD was slow paced because the actual class is nonstop! I am dripping globs of sweat onto my mat during it. I have the DVD but haven’t tried it yet. I’m curious to see now.

    • Fitnessista on July 20, 2010 at 10:07 pm

i would LOVE to take a live class, but for now all i have are the dvds

  34. Kristy on July 21, 2010 at 8:51 am

Garlic Gold as salad “dressing” – GENIUS! I dropped the $9 on my 1st jar over the weekend, we shall see. And I was gonna just use it to dip bread 🙂
