Adventures with the donut pan

We’re moving a little slowly over here after a late night, and an early morning with a hacking Bella.

She seems to be feeling better now, though <3

We didn’t end up going out with friends because they just got into Tucson and are getting settled, so went in comfys to Ike’s.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup for the Pilot, caramel tea for me

(It was 11pm, which is why I didn’t munch anything)

I didn’t wake up early enough to walk (sorry to ditch my virtual walking buddies), so instead I did the Fire 30 TurboFire DVD. It was so much and a great way to get my metabolism crack-a-lackin for the day 🙂

B-fast was an egg burrito + salad

(Luuuuurve salad for bfast)

Quite a few of ya have asked how I roll my burritos, so we took a couple of pics this morning 😀

Always warm up the tortilla first (20 seconds or so in the microwave, or you can warm it directly on the stove burner), and place your fillings of choice in a line/clump down the middle:
burrito (2)

(today was 3 egg whites and salsa)

Fold the sides over the filling:

Then the bottom part up:

and all the way:

burrito (3)

Hope that helps a little!

This morning we’re off to find something to wear for our trip tomorrow- I’m nervous/excited. See ya this afternoon 🙂

xoxo

Something to do: Show Me Your Fit! I always loveadorerelish the amazing discussions we have on here and any chance I have to get to know you guys better 🙂 We did Show Me Your Smoothie last year, but I thought it would be fun to do something more personal. So this time, we’re going to do “Show Me Your Fit.” If you’d like to participate, please send me a picture from your day with a caption by Thursday at noon (EST) to fitnessista at gmail doc com (subject “Show Me Your Fit”).  It can be anything food or fitness-related- a pic from an amazing run or fitness class, your breakfast, a snack, whatever you like. I’ll post the pics on Friday morning 😀

  13. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on April 11, 2011 at 2:33 pm

I meant to comment the other day that your burritos are always so neatly wrapped! I always have the problem of over-stuffing them and they seem to fall apart on me. Messy, but still delicious! Have fun shopping!

Thanks for the good tips on workouts and interesting recipes…I want to try your amazeballs (one of my fav words) and so many other eats on the blog. Thanks for making my days at work (on breaks of course) more enjoyable!!

How does your hair look so incredible, even when you head out in comfies??? I am jealous with a capital J! 🙂

  17. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on April 11, 2011 at 3:02 pm

Nice wrap…so tight and neat looking…nothing’s gonna fall out of that one!

Your trip…I hope you have a great one.

And the call for submissions, I just did that starting over the weekend with featuring people’s recipes…I think it’s AWESOME you’re doing the Show me Your Fit…it gives people a chance to ‘get involved’ and to sort of meet each other virtually by being able to see faces/names/pics from everyone’s day…what a great gift to everyone and thanks for organizing it, Gina 🙂

I really love the bangs on you. The more I see them on you the more I want them! Your breakfast burrito looks so good. I always struggle with getting veggies into my breakfast, maybe I need to make a breakfast burrito with them!

    • Fitnessista on April 11, 2011 at 9:54 pm

      thank you! 🙂
bfast burritos are such an easy way to get am veggies.. and so good with salsa 🙂

  19. Heather (heathers dish) on April 11, 2011 at 3:43 pm

She your fit us SUCH a cute idea! I love how personal it is 🙂

  20. Holly @ The Runny Egg on April 11, 2011 at 3:57 pm

Love the idea of ‘show me your fit’ — lets hope I remember to submit a pic 🙂

    The burrito looks glorious!

  21. Namaste Gurl on April 11, 2011 at 4:29 pm

I completely suck at attempting to fold a burrito. It always ends up ripping, and I just eat all the insides separately. Oh well 🙂 At least I know some can do it!

  22. Jaime on April 11, 2011 at 4:29 pm

Why do you seem to always discard the yolks? They are the most nutritious part of the egg, hosting plenty of vitamin d, b12, selenium, etc. The whites are a good source of protein, but their nutritional profile doesn’t hold a candle to the egg in it’s complete form.

    • Fitnessista on April 11, 2011 at 9:51 pm

i have one yolk per day. since i eat eggs so many times during the day, it wouldn’t be healthy for me to have the entire egg each time

      • Jaime on April 11, 2011 at 10:12 pm

It’s a total misconception that egg yolks raise your cholesterol.. such an old, outdated nutritional concept. If you’re eating organic, pasture and free-range eggs, they are perfectly healthy to consume without worry. I eat 2-3 a day, and my cholesterol level is perfect. Just saying…

  23. Allison @ Food For Healing on April 11, 2011 at 4:32 pm

seeing that egg burrito makes me want enchiladas for some reason lol

  24. Ruth on April 11, 2011 at 4:37 pm

    • Fitnessista on April 11, 2011 at 9:49 pm

  28. Stephanie @ Life, Love & Inspiration on April 11, 2011 at 4:59 pm

Bella is so cute! I have hundreds of pictures of my dog curled up in a blanket, she always looks so adorable :).

  29. Ellie@fitforthesoul on April 11, 2011 at 5:24 pm

ohhh what a fun idea!! love it 😀

  30. Mindy on April 11, 2011 at 5:36 pm

That burrito looks good! Does that salsa have avocado in it? There is a salsa I’ve seen at Costco that looks like the salsa on your burrito. It has avocado in it and I want to try it, but the packaging is so big!

    • Fitnessista on April 11, 2011 at 9:49 pm

it’s the tj’s green salsa- one of my faves!

  31. Mo on April 11, 2011 at 5:47 pm

You always look so put together! While I know you really take good care of yourself inside and out, I also think you would probably look good in a burlap sack! You remind me a little of the lead singer of the Bangles (yep, way back, I’m showing my age). Nothing cuter than a curled up puppy. Take care you guys!

    • Fitnessista on April 11, 2011 at 9:48 pm

thank you, that’s such a sweet compliment <33 (LOVE the bangles!)

  32. Heather on April 11, 2011 at 6:29 pm

How old is Bella? She is too cute! Your bkfast burrito is making me hungry!

    • Fitnessista on April 11, 2011 at 9:48 pm

      she’s 5 🙂

  33. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on April 11, 2011 at 7:20 pm

Your burrito looks so perfect! My problem with wraps is that I always stuff them way too full to wrap them up properly. 😛

  34. Ashley @ Feeding Ashley on April 11, 2011 at 8:25 pm

I love burritos, but I always fail at rolling them. I hope Bella feels even better, she’s so adorable.

  35. Rachel on April 11, 2011 at 8:49 pm

    Hi Gina,
Would you do a post on your take on artificial sweeteners? I have been hearing so much about them lately and would like your point of view.
    Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on April 11, 2011 at 9:37 pm

i say no to artificial sweeteners!
the only one that i think is stevia, and other than that, i prefer maple syrup, honey, dates, sucanat and brown sugar over the white stuff or fake stuff.

  36. Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table on April 11, 2011 at 8:56 pm

I’m still blown away by that rose. Too cool!

  37. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on April 11, 2011 at 9:54 pm

I was just thinking “How does she roll up that burrito” when I saw the first burrito pic and there it was! Instructions! Thanks!
