Signing Away the First Born

Hi friends! How was your night?

view

Sorry for the late posting tonight- we ran around like crazy all day,

am pretty sure we signed our life away

contract

“This is the first-born child clause… please sign here”

(We put an offer in on the house!!)

and just enjoyed a lovely dinner with friends.

This afternoon, the Pilot and I met with the realtor to do the contract thang

did a Bodyrock workout (which was killerrrrr)

grabbed protein replenishment

smoothie

(mine was a sludge with almond milk, Sun Warrior, kale, banana, blueberries, flax and strawberries)

and met with my dad to check out the house. Even though we put an offer in and were 99.7% sure he would love it, we wanted to get his expert opinion.

I discovered something new about our *hopefully future place* today:

closet

a closet I could LIVE in. Two thumbs up for that 🙂

Dad loved the house, which was very exciting, and after all of that we came back home to change and get ready for dinner.bedroom

We brought salad supplies:

salad (2)

Bag o’ salad, Annie’s dressing + chopped cucumber, grape tomatoes, bell pepper, hearts of palm, Greek olives and chives for toppings

salad

and munched a delicious feast with two of our very good friends.

My friend Kelly (whom I’ve known since before the Valdosta days- her hubby is a Pilot, too) is a girl after my own heart and eats very similarly to how I do. She was my half-marathon training buddy for both of the Disney Princess races I ran.

Tonight, she set out a glorious spread of hummus + veg

hummus

Mango salsa and tortilla chips.

salsa

Along with the salad we brought over, for dinner we enjoyed:

-meaty pizza for the boys, gluten-free veggie pizza with Daiya (!!!) for the girls

-gluten-free brownies with coconut milk ice cream for the girls, regular ice cream for the boys

It was basically everything I could ever wish for 🙂

As lovely and wonderful as the food was, the company was even better <3 We’re very lucky to have an amazing group of friends here in Tucson, especially since I miss my Valdosta friends. That’s definitely a perk about being in the A-10 family—we always see each other again.

Off to bed!

See ya in the morning <3

xoxo

Gina

Sounds like a busy but fun day! Congrats on putting an offer on the house! Just wanted to again tell you how happy I am the Pilot is home and please pass on how much I appreciate his service for our Country. You are BOTH so brave!

YAY for jumbo closets!! Good luck with the offer! 🙂

  3. christina on April 1, 2011 at 2:25 am

I share your excitement about giant closets! Although… they really are never quite big enough…or maybe I really just have too much stuff? 😛

  4. Emma (ecoprincess) on April 1, 2011 at 3:13 am

The house looks lovely! Glad your Dad approved it =)

I love it when my friends who eat the same way as I do come over for dinner. It’s nice to be able to enjoy food with someone else who appreciates the same things as me! When I can make a MASSIVE salad and know it will get eaten and brown rice or wholewheat pasta instead of regular, etc.

  5. Natalie on April 1, 2011 at 3:38 am

The veggie + hummus look sensational! I setting up a batch of chickpeas right now! 😀
House buying can be nerve-wracking, especially because it’s such a huge amount of money, but at the same time it’s soooo exciting because it’ll be yours and you can start to build up a home 😉
    Good luck with the offer!

  6. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on April 1, 2011 at 5:41 am

Major congrats, Gina!!!!!!!!! I am soooo happy for you guys! And the life-signing-away stuff…it just intensifies up til escrow closes and the fat lady sings. I have never signed so many documents as I have in some recent real estate transactions. I swear there’s even more paperwork now than there was 5-10 years ago but it will all be worth it once you move your clothes into that closet! 🙂

And sooo happy that you have friends and a supportive network. Friends can make all the difference and so glad you guys have some good ones.

And brownies w/ coconut milk ice cream? Yes please!

  7. CathyK on April 1, 2011 at 6:12 am

i’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you, gina!
i STILL feel better having my dad look over a house or a car before purchasing!…he’s very knowledgeable in all matters financial so i like to get his thumbs up before a lot of $ is spent!! family and friends – just the best!

    Oohhh, I want that closet!!!

  26. chelsey @ clean eating chelsey on April 1, 2011 at 9:00 am

    Yay for house offers!!!

  27. Katherine on April 1, 2011 at 9:19 am

Awesome- the house news is so exciting! It must be such a wonderful feeling to start getting settled and have a new project to work on.

Would you recommend trying Daiya? I almost picked it up at the store the other day but it is pretty pricey so I wanted to think about it first. Does it really taste like cheese? I’ve made “cheeze sauce” using nutritional yeast and that really doesn’t do it for me. Is Daiya different?

  28. Ashley @ Feeding Ashley on April 1, 2011 at 9:24 am

Congratulations with house it looks beautiful!

  29. Claire @ Un Bello Aperitivo on April 1, 2011 at 9:41 am

  33. Brenda@Year25 on April 1, 2011 at 10:11 am

Awesome closet! The closet at my house was also a selling point. It’s massive and fits all my stuff in it so I don’t have to change it out for the seasons. There’s even a whole wall for shoes! Love it.

  34. Dana Marie on April 1, 2011 at 10:21 am

  36. Valerie @ FreshMutz on April 1, 2011 at 10:58 am

Oh my!! Is that Kirkland (Costco Brand) mango salsa? It is soo scrumptious that I eat with a spoon as if it were gazpacho.

    • Fitnessista on April 1, 2011 at 11:18 am

i’m not sure, but it was AMAZING

  37. Zippsgal on April 1, 2011 at 11:05 am

    Hi Gina!!!
I have been reading your blog for ever now but decided to finally post a question…….how exactly do you do your Bodyrock workouts using a small computer screen????? I have seen the workouts and heard all of the wonderful props that you give the site but just cant seen to keep up using my laptop screen. Any suggestions or ideas??
    Thank you!

    • Fitnessista on April 1, 2011 at 11:18 am

hey! thanks so much for saying hi 🙂
i watch the workout first on my computer and write the exercises down, then i do it on my own. i don’t do the workouts while watching the computer- she only does a condensed version to show what the exercises look like
      hope this helps a little!

  41. Marie on April 1, 2011 at 12:16 pm

Congratulations on the house! It looks beautiful from the photos you’ve shown already. You guys are so blessed that your dad has so much knowledge to share! There is nothing worse than buying a house and then finding later that there are all these problems with it. 🙂 Love that the pilot is home again and loving your adventures together! 🙂

BTW, I just finished my fourth week of BodyRock.tv workouts and they are AMAZING! I have toned up so much because of these workouts. I love everything about them, the variety, the challenge, the results. 🙂 Thanks for getting me hooked onto another great concept! 🙂

Congrats on the offer!!! OMG…WHERE did you get that dragonfly dish!?????? My husband and I have a “thing” for dragonflies (don’t barf, we kiss when we see one if we’re together – and I had a dragonfly beaded into my wedding dress). If I can find one online, I may have to order it.
