Slow Mo Saturday

Hi friends! How’s your weekend going so far? What have you been up to?

It’s a typical Saturday over here.

The Pilot is crawled on the couch with Bella watching football

pilot

[I paparazzied him]

and I’m home from work on my lunch break to munch and blog before Zumba.

omelet

-omelet with 1 egg and 2 egg whites

-spinach

-goat gouda

-mustard, salt and pepper

-toast with jam

I could eat breakfast for every meal. It never gets old.

It’s been kind of a slow motion day since I had two weight room shifts. The good thing about it is if it gets slow, I’ll stand by a treadmill and stretch for a couple of minutes. Easy way to sneak in some stretching 🙂 Needless to say, I have energy to burn in Zumba today- they better watch out.

Last night, I got the lasagnas ready for tonight –and baked them halfway- along with the cookie dough for the pizookies.

Check out the picture the Pilot snapped while I was busy cooking:

If we’re not upstairs by 10pm, Bella puts herself to bed.

She’s such a funny and strange little thing 🙂

Time to Zumba-fy over here! Have a happy Saturday <3

xoxo

Today’s tip: Have trouble remembering the difference between “prone” and “supine”? I did when I first started getting into weights and training. Here’s a trick to remember: “supine” minus the “u” = spine. So for exercises laying on your back, you’re supine. Stomach-laying exercises are prone.

Bella has so much attitude, I love it.

I catched up on like 10 days of your blog posts last night… I’ve been super busy and have missed readin your blog daily… 🙂

Our cat does the same thing- once 9:30 hits he is yelling at us to go to the bedroom and dashes towards and jumps on the bed anytime we move in the direction of the bedroom.

  3. Emily on October 1, 2011 at 4:01 pm

My dog (a cockapoo) totally does that too. He’ll head to the bathroom in the summer–I guess that’s his bedroom. He also heads back to bed in the am after I take him out and feed him before going to school. Gotta squeeze in those 18 hours of beauty sleep 🙂

    Awww silly Bella 🙂

  5. Christina on October 1, 2011 at 4:05 pm

Another way to remember the difference between supine and prone is supine has UP in it- as in Face Up!

The Pilot looks like he’s having a tough day 🙂 Good for him!

cookie dough for the pizookies = I want a pizookie right about now.

Hope your shin-dig goes off without a hitch… as I know it will 🙂

    Hi Gina!

I think it’d be awesome if you did a “10 ways to make October outstanding” post, just like you did with September. I love making lists of goals I want to work towards at the start of each month and things I look forward to and I’d love to read about yours!

Bella is so cute. Our dogs do the same thing… Around 10:15-10:30, if we’re not in bed yet, they try to bug us to come to bed. If we don’t move pronto, they just go in there themselves. Hope your Zumba class goes well!

  9. kathleen @ the daily crumb on October 1, 2011 at 4:15 pm

glad the pilot has a day to relax!

your tip of the day was very useful! i had no idea what the difference was between prone and supine… and for some reason was never able to understand via google. thanks!

OMG such an adorable pic of Bella!!

I don’t how Zumba instructors pick the music, but there is a really fun new Indian song that I would love to dance to in Zumba!! I finally had an instructor who taught a fun class so I think I’m going to try to attend Zumba more often now.

  11. Lauren on October 1, 2011 at 4:26 pm

Lasagnas look awesome. Have fun tonight. Did you already write what the differences in your lasagnas are? Just wonderin’.

  12. Allison @ Food for Healing on October 1, 2011 at 4:28 pm

aw bell! my cats do the same thing, if we stay up later, they just put them selves to bed, which usually means outside the bedroom door, since we dont allow them in the bedroom ever. so cute

  13. Sara @ RunnerWife on October 1, 2011 at 4:37 pm

Awww! I love that! I feel like our poor puppy NEVER gets tired! Bella is adorable! <3

    Aw! Cute little Bella 🙂

My roommate has a cat named Bella who is not NEARLY as adorable. Nor able to put herself to sleep -__-

I guess dogs have internal clocks. One of our dogs starts staring at us if it’s 10 pm and we’re still on the couch. He thinks we don’t know, but he jumps on the couch (which he’s not supposed to be on) and sleeps there for the night.

  17. Paige @ Running Around Normal on October 1, 2011 at 6:16 pm

Hey Gina:) I love Bella <3 She totally reminds me of my dog, Niko.

Great tip! The way I remember is by using my hand. It's supine when the palm is facing up, as if serving soup (soup…ine:) ) and prone when palm is down.

  18. Ali on October 1, 2011 at 7:08 pm

Hey yo! I can’t wait to see the partay pics! Another way to remember supine is to think soup! When you hold your arm out. and cup your hands like you would if you were going to hold some soup in your hands, that is supine!

  19. Ashley on October 1, 2011 at 7:47 pm

like the other ladies, we learned with soup. SUPine = hold the SOUP (palms up, you can ‘hold the soup’), Prone = Pour the soup (turn hands so palms are down, so you have to ‘pour the soup’). hold the soup, pour the soup. 🙂

Hey Gina! I just got some Garlic Gold in the mail and who did I see on their info sheet? You! So cool! You Rock girly!

Mmmm, that lasagna looks scrumptious! Happy Weekend! 😀

  23. Taya on October 1, 2011 at 9:51 pm

I like your supine/prone tip. I’m a ballet teacher and Zumba instructor, and my students always get confused between the two! When I was about 10 or so, I came up with this tip: If you’re lying prone, you’re prone to someone sneaking up on you (because your face is down), and if your lying supine, you’d be able to see pine trees up above! I don’t know if it makes much sense, but it’s always worked for me!

  24. Ilana on October 1, 2011 at 11:15 pm

lol I love anotomical pneumatic tricks. My favorites (so boring) are adductor and abductor. Add-ing the limb on, or alien abducting the limbs.
haha ok I’ll stop geeking out!

  25. Nicole on October 1, 2011 at 11:50 pm

Bella matches the carpet. 🙂 Cute little thing!

  26. Lindsay @ biking before bed on October 2, 2011 at 1:11 am

Thanks for the trick about remembering supine. I got that question wrong on my anatomy test last week.

  27. Sara on October 2, 2011 at 1:22 am

I honestly can not believe you are still teaching Zumba! It’s great that you are, but, I think we need video proof. 😀

  28. Jessica on October 2, 2011 at 4:39 am

Dogs are weird. I love my dog, but she does some strange stuff. I love snuggling her on the couch though!

  29. Meg on October 2, 2011 at 6:12 am

cute post Gina 🙂 awwwww do I love Bell….. reminds me of my puppy back home 🙁 …..

  30. April on October 2, 2011 at 9:31 am

Even easier to think of it as holding Or being a cup of soup as in soupinate

  31. mary on October 2, 2011 at 10:19 am

    Eat those yolks!

    • Fitnessista on October 2, 2011 at 1:24 pm

i need to! i didn’t want to zumba with a stomach full of two yolks + cheese though. i have to keep it lighter before teaching

  32. Nancy @ Beyoutiful Fitstyle on October 2, 2011 at 11:16 am

Breakfast IS the best meal of the day! That omelet looked declious too. I think I might have to try it out.

Flew out and back to Denver to visit family – had a great time and completely thought of you when they told me they had a rattlesnake in their back yard a day ago! I certainly didn’t want to leave the 83 degree weather to come back home to 44 degrees this morning. Going to the Milwaukee Brewers play off game today and although chilly, I’ll get my dose of sun! Funny, my dog goes upstairs by himself too – like he’s saying, come on guys – it’s time for bed! Take care and enjoy your Sunday.

  34. Lara on October 2, 2011 at 6:48 pm

Ha! I love your use of the word “paparazzi” as a verb 😉
Yup, the pups always let us know when it’s time for bed, too! I kind of like it because it assures we never stay up too late. Wow, that makes me sound really old and boring!

  35. Katy @ HaveYouHurd on October 3, 2011 at 4:47 pm

Little Bella almost blends right into the carpet! Too cute 🙂
