Spring Dreaming

Hey friends Open-mouthed smile How’s your day been? Hope you’re having a faboo Friday.

I started off my morning with a beautiful breakfast:

juice

Green juice +

Perfect protein pancakes

pancakes

I added some raw cacao powder to the mix, topped with blackberries and didn’t even need syrup. So crazygood.

The original plan was to hit an early yoga class before work, but my bed felt too glorious and comfy – little Bell wasn’t ready to wake up either Winking smile My body is in some serious need of stretching, so I plan to catch some yoga this weekend.

Instead, I had a relaxing morning and packed up a fun lunch:

stuffed avocado

Stuffed avocado!

First, I mixed up chopped avocado with chickpeas, grape tomatoes, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, sea salt and pepper

mixture

And placed the mixture into the avocado skins:

avocado

Cute!!

I packed the sliced veggies to dip with work community hummus Winking smile  (We have a Costco-sized container of hummus, fruit, bars, dried fruit, chocolate, and TJs almond butter to snack on at work)

+ protein smoothie from Xoom juice and a local orange

Spring Wardrobe-ing

Around this time of year (right before spring), I start to get rid of clothes I’ll no longer wear (sell the designer stuff and donate the rest), and start to plan spring/summer essentials. I think it’s fun to get things in installments to avoid monster purchases at one time, and it’s a good way to stay within our budget.

Some things I’ll be stocking up on for spring:

1. Wedges (to wear with crops and sundresses)

image

2. Structured sandals (for more casual days and shorts)

image

3. Lace dress

image

4. Denim shirtdress

image

5. Jean shorts

image

6. Printed mid-length skirt

image

7. Chain link bracelet

image

(I will NOT be buying this Lanvin one. But it’s fun to dream, eh?)

8. Colorful summery tops and tanks

What’s on your radar for spring?? Feel free to link it up in the comments section- it’s fun to help each other shop!

I’m off to teach Smile

See ya laterrrr <3

xoxo

Gina

  3. Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete on February 11, 2011 at 7:21 pm

I am so excited to go back to wearing short sleeve shirts and skirts to work and being able to wear my sandals!

I love the avocado cups – how adorable and what a good idea to serve them in — you could use the cups to hold guac and have raw veggies and chips surrounding it.

  4. Parita@myinnershakti on February 11, 2011 at 7:35 pm

Cotton dresses with cute cardigans and strappy sandals. 🙂 Can’t wait!

  5. Katie~ Run For The Bikini on February 11, 2011 at 7:44 pm

I will definitely be making stuffed avocado stat! 🙂

I love the structured/gladiator sandals, I’m not big on wedges I still prefer I killer heel. I have some 4 1/2 inch shiny blue pumps that I wear mainly spring/summer. There from Target, I got them last March, but you can still get them here http://www.target.com/Mossimo-Black-Valonia-Pump-Patent/dp/B001G7BPTG

I stocked up on clearance jean shorts from Gilly Hicks and AE in Sept.- Dec. 😀

I’ll be on the lookout for tanks and shirts to go with them! I LOVE Lace and have a bunch of lace shirts and tanks, I think I need to find a dress though!

I like this Navy/ Cream Cherry Print Dress from Forever 21 http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=dress&product%5Fid=200001072 too 🙂

I think I may have to go shopping tomorrow.

I have had such issues with getting up early lately. I blame the freezing, wintery weather 🙁
CUTE avocado cups, what a fun idea.
On my shopping list for the spring – A new pair of Fit Flops. I don’t wear them for the ‘toning’, they’re just really freaking comfortable and have a lot more support than regular ‘flops. I like the gold sequined ones here:
    http://www.victoriassecret.com/ss/Satellite?ProductID=1265384474476&c=Page&cid=1292993396796&pagename=vsdWrapper
I’d also like to pick up some cute shorts. I never wear shorts and this is my year!
When I head to Florida for vacation in 3 weeks, I would like to pick up some coral necklaces. A ‘coral’ pink one and an off-white.

  16. Kate on February 11, 2011 at 8:31 pm

    I love the fashion post!

The lace dress, the denim dress, the shoes…I dig it all!

I am super ready for spring! Not sure that i will shop for spring per se, but I get cheap thrills from finding cute new t’s and shorts….nothing that breaks the bank, but just something new and cute makes me feel like spring is here. i.e. Target can do the trick 🙂

And i love the stuffed avo and filling mixture you used!

  25. Jess (In My Healthy Opinion) on February 11, 2011 at 9:10 pm

Yay for lace dresses! I bought one consignment back in October (it’s white) and every time I’ve worn it I get so many compliments.

  27. Mandy on February 11, 2011 at 9:43 pm

I bought a pair of clogs end of last summer I’m hoping they’re still in fashion!!

  28. MMiller on February 11, 2011 at 9:45 pm

So hard to decide! We have no money and since I no longer can work, I don’t really buy any new clothes! I am sure glad I am not a shopper! I have enough clothes to get by, so I only buy something new when it is a necessity! Or if there is some sort of special occasion that warrants it! On top of that My daughter will be getting married in 2 years!

  29. Ashley on February 11, 2011 at 10:06 pm

I love that link bracelet. I’m gonna get some wedges and jean shorts. Other than that I stock up on tanks and work the layers.

  30. Jennifer on February 11, 2011 at 10:20 pm

I love spring shopping! I cant wait to get some cute new sandals and wedges and skirts and light airy tops.

  31. jen @ taste life on February 11, 2011 at 10:41 pm

Oh my gosh, I have nothing at all on my radar for things to buy this spring…I just kind of go shop and see what I like. I know I need more shorts/skirts. I really love wearing sun dresses when it’s warm enough, but my office is always freezing, so I can only dress for spring/summer on weekends!

  32. Kelsey on February 11, 2011 at 10:53 pm

it was -20 here this morning. you better believe I am counting down the days till spring! did I miss you saying where you worked? or is it on the DL?

when I first started reading blogs I clicked away on raw food & vegan blogs, too weird for me haha. Now I juice every morning eat tons more veggies and fruits AND went vegan, lol. blogs are very inspiring to me. i still read a plethora of blogs, but I do have a tendency for either vegan/high raw food blogs, or just once with amazing recipe after amazing recipe, like edibleperspective/ashley. I do prefer not too much meat on the blog though. and sometimes I follow bloggers that are less ‘like me’ eating wise but more like me because of age or something else 🙂

  43. Stephanie on February 12, 2011 at 7:15 am

I want a shirt dress and some cute flats. Good flats are hard for me, because I get blisters very easily. I pretty much wear “sensible shoes” ALL THE TIME. How depressing.

    Hey Gina!

I have a question for you. I just got a box of quinoa and was looking for some fun things to do with it, and I noticed your breakfast quinoa looks particularly delish. Could you provide any directions for assembly? Thanks!! 😀

  48. Suzanne on February 12, 2011 at 1:52 pm

I love it when dresses and skirts have pockets! Will be looking for those. I’ve noticed that Anthropologie, my favorite clothing store, tends to carry lots of items with pockets. Do you think you could bake those socca thingies? And if so, how would you go about doing it? Thanks! xoxo
