Start your day the cookie way

Well that’s what I did 🙂 Something about knowing there is a beautiful breakfast cookie waiting in the fridge for me makes me get out of bed so much faster!!! I woke up, took the puppies on a nice long walk and then came home to munch my cookie with some molten chocolate coffee. It was muy delicioso.

After breakfast, I went to the gym for some easy cardio (it’s my "active recovery day"). I hopped on the elliptical for 40 minutes and read the new Shape magazine. There’s a recipe in there for lighter chocolate brownies that I think I’m going to make for the party we’re going to on Saturday 🙂 They look pretty glorious. While on the elliptical, I alternated between 5 crossramp and 5 resistance for 5 minutes, with 10 crossramp and 10 resisistance for 5 minutes for the duration of 40 minutes. It was a breezy little cardio sesh, but it always feels good to get moving, especially on a rest day. My friend Renee is subbing yoga today which I’m planning on going to. I honestly don’t like yoga at all (except for the meditative benefits) and she said she has a nice and relaxing class planned for today with lots of meditation. Sounds like a perfect rest-day activity to me.

After the gym, I had a Clif Mojo bar for a snack. These just aren’t my favorite. I like the Z-bars much better, and while these are good (anything with chocolate chips is good!) they are very salty. I’m super sensitive to salty foods, and when I opened the wrapper I could smell the saltiness. Of course, I ate it anyway (I hate hate hate wasting food).

My day today is going to be filled with cleaning (our friend Kim comes in tomorrow and is staying with us for a week), a little yoga, and somehow I got volunteered to take some squadron guys lunch right now from Thai Mobile. Sweet.

Hope ya’ll have a wonderful day!! It’s almost the weekend!!!!

Much love,

G

I always think your molten chocolate coffee sounds so yummy. Where do you get it? And….I didn’t realize you were from Tuscon! Were you a Wildcat?..I was a Sundevil! I miss AZ so much…I love it there! Hope you have a great day!

hey sammie- it’s 1/4 cup oats, 1/2 scoop protein powder, 1 tbs of pb, cinnamon and nutmeg. you mix it until combined and crumbly, then stir in 1/8 cup raisins and 1/4 cup milk. flatten onto a plate and let it sit in the fridge overnight– it will harden like a no-bake cookie and the oats will “cook” from the milk. it is AWESOME!!

kristen- yeah i was a wilcat!!! what a coincidence that you went to asu! i miss az horribly and phoenix is a lot of fun (i looove pink taco and fashion square…and mill ave!). i’m so glad my family is there so i can visit often! are you from az or did you just go to school there? oh and the molten chocolate coffee is from fresh market (i stock up when i’m in orlando).

These Mojo’s are so so salty! they r ok if you eat them after your workout but be careful not to eat them before…i thought i was dying from dehydration the one time I chose to eat this bar before workout!! and you should definitely try the morningstar chik’n nuggets! they are so good, and the boy couldnt tell that they werent chicken!

I just went there for school. I live in Newport Beach, CA now, but would love to go back one day. Tucson is such a cute place! So…we don’t have fresh markets here 🙁 , BUT I did just go to their website and order some online. haha…I think I’m a little too obsessed with my coffee…it just sounds so good!! And I ordered the creme brulee flavor! I’m so excited for it to arrive! will be so yummy with my bfast cookie!

molten chocolate coffee!!?? that sounds like my kind of morning beverage 😉 does it need any sweetener/milk or anything or is it good black??

    p.s. you are so gorgeous!

  10. Fitnessista on August 7, 2008 at 4:07 pm

hi lizzy! i’m glad i’m not the only one who thought they were too satly- after eating it, i was parched!!! good to know about the nuggets- i’m definitely planning on getting some on sunday’s grocery trip! especially if i can trick the hubby into thinking they’re real…

kristen- that’s so cool you ordered some! i’ve tried the creme brulee too and it’s divine! let me know what you think 🙂

hey andrea!!! wow, thank you for such a sweet compliment 🙂 the coffee is pretty good black (and i don’t like black coffee, so it says a lot about the awesome rich flavor)– i usually put 1 tbs of fat free half-and-half and 1 packet of splenda. i just like my coffee a little sweeter 🙂 nice to “meet” you!!!

that “cookie” looks so good! how did you make it?

  13. sportsnutritionliving on August 7, 2008 at 8:41 pm

Does that fill you up fora long time, like would you choose to eat that on a day you have a heavy workout?

  14. VeggieGirl on August 7, 2008 at 9:37 pm

Oooh, that breakfast cookie looks INCREDIBLE!! Yum, yum, yum :0)

  15. glidingcalm on August 7, 2008 at 9:40 pm

Ugh…my Mojo bar was salty too (Peanut Butter Pretzel flavor)…good to know it wasn’t just the flavor, but the MOJO bars in general! I’ll just skip giving any others a try!

And I really want to see Pineapple Express!

  16. Fitnessista on August 7, 2008 at 10:00 pm

hey anonymous- it’s very easy to make, the recipe and nutrition info are here: http://www.fitnessista.com/2008/07/it-beautiful-thing.html

sportsnutritionliving- i would totally make this before a tough workout!! if it’s going to be extra strenuous, you could do a whole scoop of protein powder and for my husband (who needs an insane amount of calories each day) i just double the entire recipe and he takes it to eat on his way to work.

if any of you decide to try the breakfast cooke, i’d love to hear what you think!! i’m working on new flavors 🙂

That breakfast cookie looks better every time I see it. Now that I finally have some time, I hope to make one this weekend!!
