Sweet Day

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday 😀 Hope you’ve had a wonderful day so far. I’m so glad ya’ll like the crepe recipe– please let me know if any of you give it a whirl 🙂

Last night, I met up with some friends for dinner at Longhorn since the guys were working late.

I had the standard boring house salad with no croutons or cheese, balsamic on the side:

salad

the 7 oz salmon with no butter sauce, plain baked sweet potato and veggies:

salmon

(salmon = buttah of the sea)

And then, just like any other girl would do on a Friday night, I came home and made raw cacao cayenne truffles.

truffles

I know, right? 😉

It’s been a while since I’ve made vegan treats, so I made up for that last night and this morning.

dough

Super-charge Me cookies (Eat, Drink and Be Vegan)

cookis

I tripled the recipe (!) and got some giant, fluffy amazing cookies 🙂

I let them cool, then packaged them up, along with macaroons and some other treats and sent them off to the blogiversary winners.

Later this afternoon, Jeni and I hit up Books A Million and stopped at Main Squeeze for a green juice:

juice

-Apple

-Ginger

-Wheatgrass

Perfection 😀

I’m off to clean the casa and then do the workout thang.

Have a fabulous day <3

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: What’s your go-to thing when you’re feeling a little bored? When I lived in Tucson, I’d go walk around La Encantada (an outdoor mall), hit up Barnes and Noble or take a pilates or yoga class. Here, baking (or un-cooking) is my #1, which is why I busted out the truffles last night. If I can’t think of anything to do (and don’t want to do chores, haha) –Valdosta isn’t exactly the land of excitement- I rummage through the pantries and I try to figure out what I can make 🙂

Lovely truffles – does the cayenne taste strong?!

When I’m bored I typically read gossip mags or play online euchre. Pathetic really!

  8. Lauren @ BIOCHEMISTA on June 26, 2010 at 5:42 pm

I totally agree about Salmon being the “buttah of the sea”!!!

When I’m bored I read, study, watch trash TV (think Kardashians, Real Housewives), run, throw in a yoga DVD, call an old friend, call my mama, bake, play with the pup, or go for a long walk around the Monuments/Smithsonian museums (I live in DC). In the summer I also kayak a lot 🙂

Boredom always means baking. And after I bake, I got out shopping for home stuff or groceries. There’s already so much physical stuff in my day, it’d be way too much to do something healthy whenever I was bored! haha

  15. Krystina on June 26, 2010 at 7:09 pm

Girl, you’re making my mouth water.

  16. briana on June 26, 2010 at 7:23 pm

I went to UofA and loved to make my boyfriend go walk around la encantada on Saturdays I also loved the Street Fair that was a couple times a year. When I’m bored I love to walk around and just look at things whether it be scenery or shops!

  17. coco on June 26, 2010 at 7:37 pm

good question about what to do when you’re bored. I try to figure it out… but whatever I do, i feel even worse the simple fact of trying to not get bored by myself. 🙁

  18. The truffles looks delicious. I have really been craving some raw balls lately.

    • Fitnessista on June 26, 2010 at 8:01 pm

  19. Courtney @ Three Months on June 26, 2010 at 7:57 pm

When I’m bored, I LOVE browsing book stores (preferably used books stores – they have so much character!). I also love to bake – maybe a little too much! 🙂

  21. Michelle on June 26, 2010 at 10:20 pm

Baking and cooking… but I also knit. And if its during business hours, a visit to my local TJ Maxx, Marshalls or Homegoods is always good!

When I’m feeling bored or uninspired I get on the subway and just get off wherever the whim hits. It’s an awesome way to shake up my routine. I know, I know, I’m lucky to live in NYC.

When I’m bored I window shop, watch tv online, or browse the web for new recipes.

  27. Marissa on June 27, 2010 at 8:11 am

  28. Rosey Rebecca on June 27, 2010 at 8:35 am

Baking or cooking is my stress-relief. Reading blogs or going to the mall are probably my go-to things when I’m bored.

  29. Dana in KC on June 27, 2010 at 9:13 am

When it is nice out I love to take walks. If it is indoors I’ll cook, read blogs or start an “artsy” project. I am currently refinishing an old mirror I found. I love salmon too. In the Parade section of the Sunday paper, B-Fizzle has a 4th of July cook out menu featuring mustard BBQ salmon and a grilled sweet potato salad. It was making me drool.

  30. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on June 27, 2010 at 10:36 am

    Those truffles look incredible!!

  31. Cyclist Kate on June 27, 2010 at 10:46 am

Yummmmmm. You’re inspiring me to make some raw treats pretty soon (Ani Phyo’s raw doughnuts!! I die.)…I’ve only been working 5-10 hours/week lately so I’ve had a lot of downtime! It was fun for the first couple of weeks, now I need lots of “what to do when I’m bored” activities…taking a yoga/Pilates class, trolling the internet for cleaning inspiration and tackling some big cleaning project at the house, window shopping, bike ride, walk, go to the library, read, go to a book store and read magazines, call/e-mail friends…it’s funny, but I’m so much more motivated to do this stuff when I’m actually a little busier. Oh well, gotta appreciate the time while I have it!

  32. Jen on June 27, 2010 at 11:15 am

When I’m bored I turn into a reading machine, especially in the summer months. I am currently reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Awesome read if you’re looking for something new to read!!!

Will you be posting that recipe for truffles?
