Take it slow

After last weekend’s frenzy, it feels good to have a weekend without too much going on.

Nature

A fun Friday with just Liv and myself, a girls’ night,

short Saturday at work,

getting to see my favorite people on my lunch break,

L and g

and not sure what we’re up to tonight and tomorrow. We have some things around the house we’d like to get done, and Tata’s bday is tomorrow (I’m making him a dump cake since he missed the Pilot’s bday celebration).

Some recent eats:

This morning’s breakfast, which shocked the Pilot

Bfast 6

His words, “I’m pretty sure that sauce was intended to use sparingly.. in Asian food… not dumped by the tablespoon onto eggs.”

He couldn’t believe how much I like the stuff 😉 Since a few people have asked about the Trader Joe’s brown rice tortillas, which are notorious for cracking, I snapped that pic that morning to show how I use them. I keep the tortillas in the freezer, and microwave one each morning with breakfast for 30 seconds. I break off a large enough piece to scoop some egg and hot sauce/salsa/fuego du jour on top and roll it up. I’ve found that the Food For Life brand is more pliable, but they only sell those at Sprouts and Whole Foods here, which I don’t visit on a regular basis.

Lunch:

Lunch 2

1/2 block tempeh seasoned like so, sautéed with tomatoes and kale, topped with a slice of goat cheese

and dessert:

Dessert

(I <3 mini Halloween candies)

We dined on the patio since it was so gorgeous outside and then I headed back to work.

Just wanted to say a quick hi, and hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend <3

Any fun fitness events planned? Anyone have a race tomorrow morning, or conquered one today?

See ya soon!

xoxo

Gina

Head’s up: Sun Warrior promo on OpenSky if you need to stock up! I can’t wait to get a new bag for smoothies, protein pancakes and amazeballs.

My (kettlebell) gym did a “Take a Swing at Breast Cancer” event to raise money for breast cancer research and in honor of one of our members who was just diagnosed. I did 1,200 kettlebell swings in an hour with a 14kg bell. And then sat on my butt knitting the rest of the day. It was fun and inspiring to be out in the park swinging with so many wonderful people.

I loooove that chili sauce. I dump so much on things that my face starts to get red when I eat it. I don’t have anything special fitness-wise this weekend, but I am going to try out the Lululemon Run Club on Monday night to try to make some running friends in my area. Hope you’re having a great weekend!

I love the Trader joe’s brown rice tortillas! I don’t notice much of a difference at all between those and the food for life ones! I keep them in the refrigerator and just warm them in the microwave 20 seconds before eating and they’re perfect!

Have you tried La Tortilla Factory teff/millet wraps? They’re a gift from the gluten-free gods! They’re SO soft and don’t crack AT ALL. 😀

    • Fitnessista on October 27, 2012 at 11:59 pm

I am obsessed with halloween mini candy! You definitely do not feel as guilty snaking on one little piece although that sugar high is still there 😉

Lovely pictures, have an amazing weekend

I’m not a fan of overly spicy foods, but I just bought a bottle of sriracha and I’m surprised how much I like it! In small amounts at a time though… I need to ease into it. 😛

  17. laura on October 30, 2012 at 2:52 pm

I did a spooky Sprint 5k in my town. I’m three months post partum and ran 80% of it 🙂 also won a three month gym membership.. just what I need to jump start my weightloss… can you recommend a good kettle bell work out?
