Take me to the dessert

I mean desert 😀

We’re at the airport right now on our way to beautiful AZ!!!

010

Sorry I’ve been a posting slacker today- it’s been quite a frenzy over here!

I started the morning early with a 4 mile run and weights with Jeni, followed by a juice, a packing extravaganza, getting the oil changed in my car, and finally making the drive to the Jax airport with the pilot.

003

On the way, we got Subwizzle.

I had a veggie on honey oat with every veggie except for pickles (nutritionally-devoid iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, olives, cucumbers, onion, extra jalapenos and banana peppers) and mustard.

002

The pilot had two 6 inch subs: a meatball and an oven roasted chicken

001

We made it to J-ville in perfect time and on our first flight to Chicago I got a little airsick since it was super bumpy. I was feeling a little green, so I grabbed my neck noodle and slept like a baby.

Guess who we got to meet in Chicago?!?

008

MARA!

She came to the airport and had a lovely picnic with us 😀

She even brought me BAIGAN BHARTHA since I missed out on having it this week!

005

Holy foodgasm, it was amazing.

The menu:

007

That girl knows the way to my heart, for sure 😀

And an Italian beef sandwich with sweet peppers for the pilot.

006

I had such a blasty talking to Mara (who is just as wonderful and sweet as she seems on the blog) and the food was to-die-for. I loved gabbing with her about life, fashion, her upcoming wedding and the blog world. Thanks again for meeting up and feeding us, Mara!

She also gave us a glorious house salad that the pilot munched and a pack of veggies that came with one of the meals.

I squirted lemon juice on the veggies and devoured them.. especially the large spicy green peppers

009

You know I love my spicy 😉

Our flight was delayed (shocker, eh??) so we’re still chilling at the airport. Not a bar in sight, or I would have some vino in hand 😀 We’re hoping to make it into Phoenix tonight –it will be a late one- and the madre, nana and little bro are picking us up from the airport and driving us to Tucson.

Any Tucson bloggies, please let me know if you’d like to meet up this weekend (if you haven’t already)! I’m thinking of planning something Sunday afternoon 😀

See ya tomorrow from my homeland 😉

xoxo,

G

Hang in there with your ridiculously long travel day. We used to live in Myrtle Beach, SC. No direct flights anywhere, had to drive to Raleigh if we wanted half a chance of something decent, adding hours to the already long day. Then a layover and more waiting to board flight #2, hoping it's not delayed, but it always is. Been there girl..it sucks. Here's to seeing your family…soon!

I REALLY wish Subway would get rid of iceberg lettuce!

  33. Jennifer @ His N' Her Health on August 7, 2009 at 1:12 pm

The Subways here (at least the ones I have been to) totally have spinach that you can get instead of iceberg. One reason Tucson is better than everywhere else haha.
