Talking Shiba

For those of you who have also been missing your daily dose of Vies,

here ya go:

Ash and her hubby put that video up last night- the Pilot and I were cracking up watching it. They’ve taught Vies so many cool tricks. Over Easter, they filled Easter eggs with treats, hid them, and taught her how to pop them open with her teeth, so she had her own Easter egg hunt. Bella liked watching the video, too.. it makes her happy that her sis is so happy.

bell and vies

A quiet breakfast while everyone else is sleeping:

 oats2

Oats with almond flour to up the nutritional stats, blueberries and tea

Some recent eats:

Salad with 1/2 avocado, turkey, tomato, greens, balsamic and goat cheese

salad8

Leftover pizza with an egg on top + more salad

egg and pizza

My goal for the day is to get out of the house.. after almost 2 weeks, cabin fever has officially set in. My friend Emily is coming to hang out in a little while, and then we’ll see where the day takes us.

Hope you have a very happy Friday!

xoxo

Gina

OMG thank you for sharing this video, I do miss little V on here! The truth is I started following your blog because when I found you through another blog and saw your daily posts with a Shiba, I HAD to follow. I have a little Shiba Mix girl myself and they are the cutest little dogs.

That is SUCH a great quote, and so true! Have fun on your outing today, wherever it takes you! I get cabin fever after being in the house for a day so I know what you mean!

Great quote… Reminds me of Nike’s motto “JUST DO IT!”

A few of my friends just got Shiba puppies, and they’re soooooo cute! I’ve always wanted one, but my allergies can’t deal with the shedding…boo.

Week 1=Complete! 🙂 I love including cardio on the in between days so it doesn’t feel like I’m just doing the same thing over and over (that feeling usually leads to incompleteness). Zumba and rest day this weekend and I can’t wait for Week 2 to start!

So I watched the Viesa video with Daisy sitting on my lap and boy did she react!!! Her head cocked back and forth something crazy! 😛

It’s so nice to see your former fur baby is doing so well!

  8. aj on January 20, 2012 at 12:05 pm

The Egg pizza looks amazing. I’m convinced everything is better with an egg on top.

Asian tradition is for new mothers not to leave the house for 1 month. I hope I can handle that! 🙂

LOVe that quote- SO SO TRUE

I’m going hang that quote somewhere as a reminder!

My lab puppy loved that video! It so nice that you realize Vies is happy and you are happy for her.

I played that video and my dog started howling. Oh my.

    Love the quote. 🙂

  15. Faith on January 20, 2012 at 12:49 pm

I tried adding coconut flour to oats the other day and it wasn’t so great, maybe I should try almond instead…

  16. kaila @ healthyhelper on January 20, 2012 at 12:59 pm

Have fun venturing outdoors! I am sure you’ll find some fun shenanigans to get into with your friend!!

  17. Anna @ The Guiltless Life on January 20, 2012 at 1:02 pm

I always add almond flour to my oats – I love the texture it gives them too as well as the protein boost!

Haha I played that video and my cats’ ears all perked up. I make my cats into dogs, I swear, they love puppies and love to play. Our next door neighbour has a Golden Retriever who comes over all the time and they’ll just lie on top of her. So I think they got all excited that she was here…nope, not today!

I can imagine Cabin Fever setting in, but your eats look great so you seem to be keeping on top of things really well! Kudos to you!

    Love that quote. So true!

That video is awesome. Ever since the I love you dog video went viral my husband has been teaching our dog how to say it too. She’s gotten pretty good but there has to be a chicken strip involved. There’s no “I love you-ing” unless the reward is worth it!

  21. Cat @Breakfast to Bed on January 20, 2012 at 1:43 pm

that dog is stinking cute. it looks like someone put my akita in the dryer on high and she shrunk.

  22. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on January 20, 2012 at 2:25 pm

Have fun getting out of the house and one thing I did for myself and my mental health in the very early days of new motherhood was leave the house every.day. no matter what, even if for just 5 mins and walking around the block one time. Some days even that was a stretch b/c just about the time I’d finish a feeding, there’d be another one, a diaper, a calamity, a spitup, an outfit change. Repeat. For days and days and days and so I’d have to just WALK OUT the door for 5 mins while Scott held the baby because otherwise the cabin fever was beyond anything else.

    ENJOY your time out!!!!!!

    Hey Gina,

I love the video! We try to get our dog Lilly to do that, but she ends up just barking a lot…hahaha
I have a yoga question for you. What is the best thing to get to keep my hands from sliding on my mat (especially in down dog) ? I have a basic mat and have been considering buying a better one. I was consistently practicing back in the beginning of 2011, toward the end of the year I wasn’t practicing at all. I don’t know whether to upgrade my mat or get a yoga towel to go over the the one I have. Any suggestions would be great!

Congrats on the little one! She is super adorable!

  26. Melissa on January 20, 2012 at 3:01 pm

OMG. I should have recorded my Shiba freaking out over Vies. 🙂 The best part is he’s also a sesame so he looks just like her. He seemed baffled by the sound bigtime!

  27. Bridget B. on January 20, 2012 at 3:18 pm

I have been reading for a while, but I never knew what happened with Viesa. I believe she used to live with you, right? Just wondering. Both of the dogs look very friendly!

  28. Kelly @ Vegolosophy on January 20, 2012 at 3:26 pm

I hope you get out and enjoy it very soon!! 🙂

  38. Liz on January 21, 2012 at 9:47 am

Wow, sorry….I could never give that dog up. I have two dogs and there were issues in the beginning but that’s what training is for. A little bit of effort goes a long way and there have never been an problems since. If I lived anywhere near you, I’d have gladly taken that dog in a second!

    • Fitnessista on January 21, 2012 at 2:07 pm

Hey friend, despite the formal training both dogs received, there were still significant issues. An incredible amount of effort on our part yielded a more disciplined dog, but a more disciplined dog that would go six months then have a momentary slip resulting in a lot of blood and an emergency trip to the vet. Vies missed Bella’s aorta by about half an inch. It broke my heart to give her up after debating for an entire year of relentless puppy parenting enforcement, but it would have been irresponsible otherwise. We made the right choice, and Viesa’s where she belongs with the right people. I’m glad to hear that your little pups are doing well, though.

      • Ashley on January 21, 2012 at 3:26 pm

Viesa says to tell you someone obviously doesn’t know what she’s talking about and that she loves you very much, can’t wait to meet Livi, and that you did the right thing. Howls and kisses.

        • Liz on January 21, 2012 at 4:22 pm

The thing is….I know EXACTLY what I’m talking about when it comes to dogs and issues. I speak from firsthand experience. But it’s a moot point. She’s not my dog.

      • Liz on January 21, 2012 at 4:20 pm

If you say so, they are your dogs so if you feel you made the right choice, then it really doesn’t matter what anyone else says anyway.

  39. Ashley on January 21, 2012 at 10:27 am

One thing I wasn’t prepared for is how HARD it is to actually leave the house with a baby. It takes forever! And once you are out, it’s difficult to accomplish much. I shoot for one thing per day. If I can get the grocery shopping done, I consider that a success!

  40. Emily @LivingLongfellow on January 21, 2012 at 10:57 am

Pizza with egg on top. Never in my life have I seen that. Good leftover pizza idea I’ll have to try.

  41. Tamar on January 21, 2012 at 11:19 am

I remember being confused last time you talked about almond flour- it’s just ground almonds, right? I don’t understand how the nutritional label (from the previous post) can say 110 calories and 11 grams of protein, when a serving of almonds has way less protein per calorie…Am I missing something?

    I love the Viesa video!
