The Bomb Experience

Hey guys! How are ya? And how’s your Indian Food Wednesday going? 😀

I love reading about your girl crushes 🙂 And at the suggestion of Heather, if any dudes want to chime in with their Bromance-worthy celeb or friend choices, I’d love it too 😀

We had a killerrrrr Insanity workout sesh today. It was plyo, which is my favorite DVD so far (not counting the recovery DVD, which we get to do tomorrow). It’s a lot of jumping, drills and sweating like a beast. Me gusta.

After our workout, Ashley had to go to work so Jeni and I chilled for a while. I made us smoothies and she got to experience her first Chocolate Cherry Bomb.

After our bfast and updating the bloggy, I finally got started on packing.

I hate packing so much.

Bella helped though 😉

Little goofer.

(Note: I keep an extra sheet on top of the bedding so when the dogs lay on it, they don’t get our comforter all doggy-scented)

Random snackage ensued:

egg

Egg puff coated in a mustard blanket

Bean salad – I’m trying to get rid of all of my produce/leftovers by tomorrow

beans

Sweet patater wedges.

And for dinner, to celebrate Indian Food Wednesday, I wanted to make something *baller* which will probably have to wait until next week :/ There’s just a lot to do tonight and I decided to let the slow cooker do the work for me.

I just added an onion, small eggplant,  okra, organic diced tomatoes, supah spicy curry sauce and veggie broth to the slow cooker

Stirred it around and set it on high.

BAM.

It will be ready for feasting after Zumba 😉

I’m off to run a couple of errands and then teaching Zumba and training a client.

Have a wonderful night <3

****We leave for Vegas TOMORROW!!! Vegas, baby! We also get to see some very important people while we’re there.. any guesses? 😉

I really need to use my slow cooker. I’ve had it for years, but am so scared to try it out for some reason. How do you know how long to cook things for. Just experience? A great way to use up veggies though!

    • Fitnessista on April 21, 2010 at 7:45 pm

yeah, you’ll get a feeling for it. most meat dishes need 8-10 hours on low and veg need 4-6. time is reduced pretty much in half if you set it on high

  9. Cara on April 21, 2010 at 5:21 pm

I have family in town and the skin show but I would have LOVED to meet up with you!! Next time give me warning and I could hook you up with some Cirque Du Soleil Tickets! 🙂

I have been having mustard cravings too!!! They come every once in a while, and I always want carrots to dip in copious amounts of Gulden’s Spicy Brown good stuff.

That indian food looks awesome!! What kind of curry spice do you use? I’ve tried indian recipes before, but they never come out how I’m expecting them to taste! I think it’s my seasonings.

    • Fitnessista on April 21, 2010 at 7:45 pm

i used a jar curry mix from whole foods- it’s way spicy and so delicious

I’ve got your eggplant curry cooking in the crock pot right now and it smells AMAZING!!!! Woohoo for Indian Wednesdays! 🙂

Oh and also, another question about smoothies. (Still getting the hang of my new vita!!) I picked up some hemp seeds today as well as some samples of a few different protein powders. It seems the hemp seeds have a good amount of protein in them…do you use both hemp and additional protein powder, or just one at a time.

I also picked up flax seeds…do they give a strong flavor to the smoothie? Any suggestions on what to mix them with or do they go good with everything? Thanks in advance and thanks for all the previous advice on the blender….I’m so in love with mine!!!!!

  26. Elizabeth on April 21, 2010 at 10:32 pm

Your dinner looks so good. I, too, have had a slow cooker for a few years and rarely find a dish that I like. I feel like veggies turn to mush and meat is often dry. Can you give proportions for when you cook meats and / or veggies? How do you know how much liquid to use, how much spice ….. I am not good at “winging” recipes until I have a lot of experience with similar foods 🙂 Thanks!!!!

  27. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on April 21, 2010 at 10:48 pm

this is so not the point of the post, but i see a tiny little purple crocheted looking triangle top bikini and omg too cute!

slow cooker..every time i think i am a high raw vegan why do i want something that “slow – cooks”….then i see GREAT eats like this and think how great it would be for winter dinners, esp for Scott. Hmmm…

Girl crush. Omg there are so many super hot bodybuilder/figure competitor girls that I am in serious lust after 🙂 Ya know what i mean. They just look amazing!

Hey!! This is my first comment but i’ve been a daily lurker for almost 6 months. You inspired me to start my own blog!! sophieiskeepcalmcarryon.blogspot.com, so thanks for inspiring me. Also, right now I am doing Jillian’s 30 day shred, but afterwards I wanted to do either Insanity or p90x, so I was wondering if you know about both and and had an idea which one was better (and cheaper).
    Thanks 🙂

YES! my metabolism is through the roof and i can definitely feel it!

  33. Fallon on April 22, 2010 at 11:16 am

I’m a Vegas bloggy!! I have to work on Friday though, what time were you thinking of meeting up for a lunch?

Healthy restaurants.. hmmm. Well there is a Wholefoods on the strip in the Town Square shopping area! It a nice mall and the weather this weekend we are having will be beautiful! Plus all the restaurants there are really good. You’d probably like Brio which is Italian and they are very good about special orders. 😉 I haven’t really dined in any of the exclusive restaurants in hotels because they are a bit pricey, but I’m sure you will find delicious and healthy options there.
