The Classic

Hey bloggies hey Smile How are ya? Hope you’ve had a great day so far!

dogs

So glad you liked the b-fast rellenos recipe! Please let me know if any of you try it <3

I’ve ninja-kicked the to-do list today:

-Workout

-Work

-Post office

-Made baby shower invitations for a friend

Ka pow!

Some recent eats:

A bowl of coffee protein oats

coffee

-1/3 C GF steel cut oats

-almond milk

Sun Warrior

-organic berries (I add the frozen ones to the cooked oats and they defrost quickly)

-cinnamon, Stevia and a pinch of sea salt

-1 pack of Via

I can 100% say that the caffeine addiction is back, but not nearly as bad as it used to be (2 cups per day instead of 16 is a good thing). Coffee is amazing.

Salad beast:

with Garlic Gold and balsamic

and a Tucson thing that I can have ANYTIME I want now Smile

Eegee’s!

eegees

I’ve written about Eegee’s a couple of times before. Basically, they’re like a slushie with real fruit, but the ice is super super fine. There’s nothing like it.

I rolled with the Flavor of the Month: Holly Berry, which tasted like fruit punch.

Redonk.

I’m off to pick up the shower invitations and start addressing them, then meeting a friend for dinner.

Hope you have a lovely night!

xoxo

I have to confess that I’m still trying to muster up the courage to dump a Via in my oats! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on December 28, 2010 at 7:28 pm

don’t be afraid! maybe try half?

      • Christin@purplebirdblog on December 28, 2010 at 8:19 pm

Hehehe half sounds like a good start. I drank my last Via the other day but I will get some more this weekend and then see about giving it a go! 🙂

Coffee in oats sounds amazing! I think I’ll try it tomorrow morning. I’m right there with ya on the coffee addiction–there’s nothing like a nice caffeine kick! 🙂

  3. lindsey on December 28, 2010 at 7:55 pm

and I just passed up the via packages at the supermarket tonight! oh noes! thanks for the treadmill workout, i’ll be using it tomorrow in addition to an awesome new class at the gym – it is a kickboxing/strength fusion class, a real butt-kicker.

  4. Felicia (A taste of Health with Balance) on December 28, 2010 at 7:57 pm

i love adding a little spoonful of coffee grinds to my vanilla sun warrior/spinach shake. sounds weird, but gives the perfect coffee flavor and slight buzz, yumm. never had via before!

Thanks for the speedy walk/run workout. I am going to program my Gymboss for those intervals and try it in the morning. I can’t wait.

  8. Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun on December 28, 2010 at 8:56 pm

Why have I never thought to do coffee flavor somehow in my oats? Two of my loves meshed together sounds about perfect.

  9. Allison @ Food For Healing on December 28, 2010 at 9:00 pm

Really wishing I had some via right now for my chocolate banana oats I have planned for tomorrow…maybe some other time… dangit!

  11. Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) on December 28, 2010 at 9:07 pm

  12. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on December 28, 2010 at 9:21 pm

Holly Berry, which tasted like fruit punch = oh that looks sooo good! I am not sick, but if i was, i would want THAT for a sore throat!

2 cups vs. 16? Oh yes, that’s a tiny bit of an improvement 🙂 16? I thought my hayday of maybe 1/2 pot of coffee was tons. But you had me beat. But hey, coffee has health benefits, right!

Anyway those chickpeas look perfect! love the colors in that pic!

  13. Missy on December 28, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Oh, I LOVE Eegee’s!! I live in Phx, and make my friend bring down a “Fun Pak” when she comes to visit (I think it serves 20+ people)! Now I want one! 🙂

  14. Alycia [Fit n Fresh] on December 28, 2010 at 9:25 pm

  16. Namaste Gurl on December 28, 2010 at 9:36 pm

Your eats are SO dang similar to mind…us bloggers, always thinkin’ alike 🙂
Do you cook your steel cut oats before adding the sun warrior and almond milk, or do you eat um raw?

  17. Lauren @ Fun, Fit and Fabulous! on December 28, 2010 at 10:01 pm

Coffee is so going in my oats in the morning that sounds ooooohhhh so good! I am a coffee addict as well. I try to limit myself to two cups per day, but in the winter I crave the warth of coffee, so I try and keep decaf on hand for post 5pm splurges!

  18. Gina on December 28, 2010 at 10:35 pm

Mmm, coffee oats! Today I ate some coffee dark chocolate covered macadamia nuts! Soooo good 😉

  19. Tina on December 28, 2010 at 10:56 pm

I have tried coffee in my protein shakes but never in my oats. Hm, this may have to happen!

Gena that breakfast looks scrumptious! I’m trying to incorporate more oats into my breakfast rotation, could you give me a simple explanation of what the difference is between all the sosts of oats- regular, quick, steel cut, rolled, old-fashioned, groats, etc? I thought I knew by now but I am not a 100% sure (here in Holland we don’t eat that many oats and when we do, it’s usually just one type). Thanks so much!

  23. thefruitpursuit (Sabine) on December 29, 2010 at 4:14 am

Oops Gena never mind, I found a link that explains pretty darn well: http://www.eatmoreoats.com/aboutoats.html. Hope to try out your coffee oats soon- with mocca coffee <3!

  24. jenna on December 29, 2010 at 8:38 am

wow eegee looks and sounds amazing!!

for your oats do you add one cup of coffee to the mix?

  25. Christie on December 29, 2010 at 8:50 am

I can’t wait to try the oats with coffee!!! I’ve eaten so terribly over the holidays. Must…get….back….to…healthy…eating. Your blog will surely help. 🙂 Btw…..I’ve had had an overwhelming desire to come to Arizona for a couple of years now. I have no idea why, but hearing you talk about it like that makes it worse. lol I”ll have to hop on a plane at some point and check it out.

  26. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on December 29, 2010 at 9:42 am

Awesome job on the to-do’s!! I’m hoping to be just as productive today as I have tons of errands to do. Have a good one! 🙂

  27. Jenna@frombostonwithlove on December 29, 2010 at 10:50 am

Hope I can be a productive as you seem to be. We’re heading out on a major roadtrip tomorrow and there are just some things that have to get done. i.e. laundry and some dog washing!

  28. Kate@andwhenshesays on December 29, 2010 at 11:20 am

Eegees are made with real fruit?! I had no idea, I assumed it was some kind of concentrate full of sugar. I may need to give them a whirl again next time I’m here.

    • Fitnessista on December 29, 2010 at 11:32 am

oh they’re full of sugar, but there’s real fruit too. haha

  29. Laurab @ foodsnobstl on December 29, 2010 at 5:39 pm

    Thanks for the treadmill workout!

  30. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on December 29, 2010 at 7:28 pm

I used to drink a ridiculous amount of coffee too and I have no idea how I managed to sleep at night! I think your 2 cups a day is a pretty safe amount though. 😉

  31. jane9 on December 30, 2010 at 12:51 am

    Eeeeegeeees…YUM

  32. Tenecia on January 1, 2011 at 2:04 pm

Eeegee’s are one of the best things about living in T-town (aka Tucson..lol). My favorite cheat meal is Ranch Fries with jalapenos and a Strawberry Fizz…woo hoo!
