The Honeymooners

Hey everyone! How are ya??

beach

Hope your day is off to a great start 🙂

Last night, we had a blasty exploring the resort and surrounding area.

Our first stop was the beach.

me

The water here is SO WARM! I’m usually a giant chicken and haaaate cold water, but I can actually see myself swimming  doggy-paddling around in there 😉

It’s pretty exciting because there’s actually a reason why we’re here in the Bahamas- it’s our HONEYMOON 🙂 That’s right, almost 3 years after being married, we’re finally going on our honeymoon. Better late than never, eh?? When we got married, the original plan was to take a low-key trip to Vegas (since our wedding was ginormous), but the pilot ended up having to be at work for training that Monday. Ever since then we’ve either been moving, or the pilot has had military schtuff, so the fact that he got to take some time off and vacay with me is pretty baller 🙂

pilot

For dinner, we went to one of the casual restaurants that faces the ocean and is on the sand, so you can dine barefoot.

We had some delicious wheaty bread:

Share a tuna cobb salad with no cheese:

I munched the Ahi tuna, which came with a papaya and pineapple salsa and bok choy:

The pilot chose the tempura sea bass and asparagus:

bass

It was pretty glorious, and a sweet deal is that the resort is all-inclusive so we don’t see a bill for our eats and drinks while we’re here. (I’ll tell ya’ll where we’re staying on Tuesday)

We laid in a hammock: (where I could very easily spend the rest of the week)

(My feet are the ones on the right, heh heh)

Did the late-night swim thang:

And the resort had a lovely 10pm CHOCOLATE BUFFET and wine tasting. This was definitely a moment where I was like, “Where am I??? These people want to give me chocolate and wine at 10pm?? Whoever decided to do this is a genius… that’s all I have to say.”

The pilot and I shared these little plates of joy:

chocolate

and it was foodgasmic. Our favorites were the fudgy brownies with raspberry on top and the chocolate and marzipan with macadamia nuts on top. YUM.

We came back and called it a pretty early night since we were tired from traveling.

The plan for the day is:

– Insanity (Core Cardio and Balance)

– Breakfast

– Beach/Pool

– The Art of Shell Painting (for real! haha)

– Bahamian Line Dancing (yeahhhhh)

– Weights

– Fancy Schmancy Dinner

See ya later today with some pics <3

I’m all for gym workouts with weights! Bring on the high intensity!

I’m actually in the middle of planning my honeymoon right now. . . So who knows where we’ll end up!

  2. jen on May 12, 2010 at 1:15 pm

gym workouts, please! have a wonderful vacation!

  3. Christy on May 12, 2010 at 1:23 pm

I’ll be moving a lot this summer (4 different homes!) so I would love at-home workouts that I can do anywhere since I won’t have access to a gym!!

My pilot and I have always talked about going to Greece for our Honeymoon! One day =D

    Enjoy!

Have a great honeymoon! Looks fab!

Summer shape-up: how about gym w/ some outdoor stuff thrown in?

  7. Maya on May 12, 2010 at 1:33 pm

Happy honeymoon you lovebirds! I think a combo of the gym and at home is good, I keep my gym membership over the summer in case it gets too hot outside and I want to head indoors.

  8. Ashley on May 12, 2010 at 1:37 pm

For the shape up I would love to see more superset workouts and strength routines that do not require any machines.

  9. e. on May 12, 2010 at 1:39 pm

Beautiful couple, beautiful honeymoon, beautiful resort. Have a great time!

  10. Erin on May 12, 2010 at 1:40 pm

Hi Gina! I’m glad you are having a wonderful time on your honeymoon – the resort looks amazing! I prefer the at-home workouts because summer is such a busy time and I need to sneak in workouts whenever I can. Thanks for all that you do for us! 🙂

  11. Kelly on May 12, 2010 at 1:49 pm

Enjoy your honeymoon!! and don’t worry about posting every day we will all understand. 😉 Enjoy Pilot time.

I love your workouts. I love interval training. I don’t have a gym membership so selfishly would prefer at home routines. but I’m good at adapting gym workouts to home.

  12. Jess on May 12, 2010 at 1:58 pm

Have a fabulous time on your honeymoon! We are getting married on October 9, 2010 and will be headed to Secrets Maroma Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. We CAN’T WAIT!

As for the summer shape up, I’d love to see some killer arm routines (gym or at home). I REALLY want defined arms for the wedding!:)

  13. Its your honeymoon…? Awwww I love it!! 10pm chocolate and wine? Ahhh I love it.
We went on a cruise for our honeymoon. Grand Bahama Island was one of our stops. We LOVED it. I agree, the water there is amazing!!

I think I’d like to see a mixture of at home and gym workouts for the summer shape up. I’m looking forward to it!!

  14. Sarah Beth on May 12, 2010 at 2:20 pm

I would love a few outdoor workouts tied into everything. It’s a shame not to spend some of our fitness time outdoors – since the weather is so nice now! I’m looking forward to participating in my frist shape-up!

Enjoy the honeymoon. We also went to the Bahamas for ours!!

  15. Amy on May 12, 2010 at 2:23 pm

Married almost 10 years and still no honeymoon. We meant to, but we had 2 wedding receptions, folled by babies, and then just got too busy. Actually, my husband is turning 30 this december, and I will be graduating (a lit later than the norm :D) so we are planning a big getaway. Congrats on your better late than never honeymoon, looks like a lot of fun!

  16. Andrea on May 12, 2010 at 2:26 pm

I would like the summer shape up to be more at home. But some cardio interval workouts would be appreciated too!

  17. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on May 12, 2010 at 2:32 pm

Oh yay, happy honeymoon! How great that you’re finally taking it. I don’t have a husband candidate just yet, but I’m thinking a Spain + Morocco honeymoon would be pretty freakin sweet. 🙂

  18. Christina on May 12, 2010 at 2:41 pm

    awwwwwwww enjoy your honeymoon!

I’d love a new gym weight routine. I’m getting stuck in a rut.

  19. Lindsay on May 12, 2010 at 2:41 pm

Gym workouts!!! My dad just got me a 3-month gym membership for college graduation! Gotta make good use of it!

  20. Pam on May 12, 2010 at 2:55 pm

In my dream last night you came to my house to show me how to properly lift weights. Any chance of that happening? 🙂 Have a wonderful honeymoon!

  21. Romy on May 12, 2010 at 3:13 pm

Hi Gina, this sounds awesome!! Have a wonderful Honeymoon!!! We will do our Honeymoon in September, but we do not know where we’re going yet…I would love to visit the US with a few days somewhere at a beach to relax 😉 Or we’ll go to the Philippines, my fiancé wants to go to Australia, but that’s too far away for me!! Nearly 20 hours of flight/travel 😮 I will keep you updated on our plans 😀

Yum chocolate buffet and wine tasting 😀 Sounds great!!! I’m curious which Hotel you’re staying at! Perhaps that’s one for our Honeymoon too!! Chocolate and Wine tasting sounds yummy 😀

  27. Kelly Michelle on May 12, 2010 at 4:15 pm

wow I’m super jealous! I stayed at an all inclusive once and while it was tons of fun the food looked nothing like that, it was pretty ick

  28. Bekah @ runtrackmind on May 12, 2010 at 4:45 pm

So fabulous, it looks like a fantastic time so far. We had a combined wedding/honeymoon because we eloped to St. Croix. However it will be 15 years ago this June so I am thinking it may be time for another. =)

  29. Cassie @ A Very Busy Mind on May 12, 2010 at 5:07 pm

Aw YAY for you and the pilot getting in some QT! Little lovebirds. 🙂

I will definitely choose somewhere tropical for my honeymoon, too!

  30. Paige on May 12, 2010 at 5:11 pm

Aw Gina – you guys are gorgeous. You’ll have an AMAZING time! So happy for you!

I have a weird dream story to share.

I never dream. NEVER. Maybe 3 times in my entire life? So last night I checked your blog before crashing into bed after 16 hours working on my African lit project … and dreamed that the pilot had a (dare I say it?) hotter, younger brother, and that it was love at first sight (for both of us). Bwahahahaha 😉

    • Fitnessista on May 12, 2010 at 6:15 pm

      bahahah that’s AWESOME

      • Fitnessista on May 12, 2010 at 6:15 pm

i have yet to see a hotter man, though 😉

  31. Anum on May 12, 2010 at 5:50 pm

I’m so excited about the summer shape up! I’m a 16 year old and I exercise and eat right better than most adults that I know, but recently school has been a huge crunch (along with many, many other things)-so my working out has had to go :(. I’m still keeping up my diet, but I feel like I’ve gotten so out of shape, and need some direction about how to get back in shape again. So if your summer shape up could include strength and cardio (like running!) that don’t involve gym equipment (my parents aren’t getting me a gym membership bc it’s super expensive in the only gym in town) that would be a life saver-literally! Thanks!!
    p.s. you’re so pretty!

  32. Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) on May 12, 2010 at 6:06 pm

Aww so cute you’re on your honeymoon! I want to go to Disney or wine tasting in California… both so fun!!

  33. KatieF on May 12, 2010 at 6:28 pm

Happy honeymoon! My husband and I traveled around Italy for our honeymoon (four years ago now!) and it was AWESOME. Looooved every second of it. 🙂

  34. christina cadden on May 12, 2010 at 6:35 pm

    Looks like so much fun!

  35. Marisa on May 12, 2010 at 6:43 pm

Have a great honeymoon! I usually work out from home, but do have a gym membership too. I would like to see a lot of free weights I think. I am looking forward to it!

  36. Allison @ Food For Healing on May 12, 2010 at 7:12 pm

i’m glad you guys finally get your honeymoon, its beautiful there

  37. shelly on May 12, 2010 at 7:43 pm

    The resort looks beautiful!
We rented a cottage on Lake Ontario for a week. Noone was around, we had our own private beach, it was so relaxing!

  38. Lisa @ Early Morning Run on May 12, 2010 at 8:10 pm

hope you have a fabulous time! Definitely time for you two to enjoy your honeymoon! (That chocolate buffet looks like heaven!)

  39. marie on May 12, 2010 at 8:59 pm

HAPPY HONEYMOON!! awwr, that is so exciting, and you both look happy & glow-y.

annnnnnnnnnnd i can’t wait for your summer shape-up! i am in definite need of a work-out overhaul so my vote is for a mixture of outdoors-y things and gym things. can’t wait!!

  40. Katherine on May 12, 2010 at 10:58 pm

    Enjoy your honeymoon!!!

I’m getting married later this year and I cannot wait for our honeymoon. We are going to Spain and Portugal, both places I am obsessed with and cannot wait to share with my fiance.

  41. andrea on May 12, 2010 at 11:45 pm

looks amazing! so much fun! question- why do you always avoid cheese in salads?

    • Fitnessista on May 13, 2010 at 9:14 am

if they have goat cheese, i’ll ask for that, but i usually don’t eat cow’s dairy

  42. Liza on May 13, 2010 at 12:21 am

That chocolate + wine buffet looks glorious, Gina! I’m so excited for the new launch of the summer shape-up. I’d like to see some more weight workouts I can do at home but with funner moves for the cardio blasts (since I don’t have any cardio equipment besides a skiprope). Perhaps you could involve exercise moves that are compound exercises? 🙂

Enjoy your honeymoon! The 3 year wait, I’m sure, is worth it. 😀

  43. Jessica @ WHY DONTCHA RUN on May 13, 2010 at 7:48 am

    • Fitnessista on March 16, 2011 at 7:38 pm

sandals emerald bay. i have no words for how amazing it was 🙂

  48. Amanda Lee on October 7, 2011 at 11:24 am

Just saw this and have to comment! As I just got back from my honeymoon- in Jamaica- and we stayed at the Sandals resort too. It was amazing- i think I’ll look for Sandals resorts wherever I want to go now! ;D
PS- I was looking at the pictures going.. hmm that looks like a Sandals resort.. then i scroll down..*good to know they’re consistent with their quality*

PPS (HA)- Because I don’t know where else to put this comment- you should do a prego fashion post. I’ve noticed you’ve been avoiding the fashion page a little more than usual 😉 I think it would be interesting to read about the difficulties finding clothes, and more about what you do wear out. Plus we’d maybe get to see more belly photos!! 😀
