The Place to Be

Hi guys! Hope that everyone had a fabulous restful Sunday and that those of you who celebrated had a beautiful Easter <3

We started the morning off with church and then got ready for the beach.

Even though I had just had bfast, I made a giant smoothie (brown rice protein, almond milk, frozen strawberries, banana, maca and chia seeds) before leaving and packed up the superfluous smoothie in a Bizzle mug to sip on at the beach :

(Check out my cousin’s awesome GIANT foam roller in the background. Lurve)

We also stopped at Bizzle on the way, so I grabbed a short soy Earl Grey Tea latte

(It made me laugh that it said GTL on the cup. Gym, tan, laundry anyone?)

Apparently, Cocoa Beach was the place to be on Easter day. The beach was bumpin’!

I love people-watching at the beach. A lot of fun stuff was going on, too, like a wedding, and baptisms in the ocean.

Funny birds:

We laid in the sun for a while (with SPF, of course) and then came home to save the puppers.

Even though I ended Lent for me a couple of weeks ago –giving up sweets was too rough- I’m still partaking in the treat feast I had planned all along.

A vegan chocolate chip cookie the size of my head:

Plentiful dark chocolate eggs, and later on I’ll be making those shakes I told ya’ll about (vanilla vodka, Bailey’s and espresso gelato. Oh yes).

First, we’re gonna grab some dinner 🙂

Have a great night!

That cookie looks awesome. All cookies should be the size of a person’s head 😀

Your smoothie sounds delicious and the beach looks lovely; that’s so cool that you saw a baptism in the ocean! Looking forward to hearing about those shakes. Drool.

Did you bring your Vitamix to Orlando or are you using a different blender while there?

I’m debating whether or not to buy one (want one really bad but they are SOOOO expensive!!!) and I just spent the last two hours reading reviews and watching demo videos on youtube. I know you’ve talked about yours before and how much you love it…but would you mind doing a video about it?? Are there any other blenders that you would recommend for someone who isn’t able to part with $500 at the moment? Also, did you get the additional canister for making flours and nut butters or do you use the same one as your smoothie canister? It seems like that makes the price jump quite a bit. Any advice would be super appreciated!

Anyone else out there have a bad ass blender?!?

    • Fitnessista on April 5, 2010 at 8:45 am

i brought the vitamix with me – i almost always travel with it 🙂
this is the one i use: http://fitnessista.theopenskyproject.com/vita-mix-1700-turbo-4500-blender.html and ‘ll ask the pilot to make a video with me sometime (he’s the camera man haha)
and no, i use the same canister for everything and haven’t had any probs with it
i wish i had another blender suggestion for you, but i’ve been using the vitamix for about 2 years and won’t go back to a regular ol blender after being spoiled by this one 🙂

      • Sam- Brown Eyes, Blue Skies on April 7, 2010 at 12:05 am

Thanks so much! I have been going back and forth between the Vitamix 5200 and the Blendtec…I think I’m gonna go with the Vita. If I get it at Bed Bath and Beyond, I can use my 20% off coupon which will save $100. Makes it a little easier to part with the moolah! 🙂

  25. Suzanne on April 4, 2010 at 11:43 pm

whoa, I must have missed the post where you talked about those shakes! vanilla vodka, bailey’s, and espresso gelato?!?! That sounds so good! Happy Easter! (I like to refer to the holiday as “Jesus…the Original Zombie Day”….but my mum thinks that a tad irreverent.)

  26. Kelly on April 4, 2010 at 11:44 pm

Sounds like a wonderful day! I honest can’t wait to see/hear about these Bailey’s shakes…I have been thinking about it way too much!! haha I just had an Earl Grey Tea Latte today as well…they are soo delicious!

      hey girl,
wish i were doing zumba today, too 🙁 i miss you guys- i hope i have a class still when i get back!
i’d say buy what you can at walmart (they have a lot of organic stuff!!) and then try one new thing a week from the organic aisle at publix- that way, you won’t go too crazy at once 🙂 another one is to shop online! amazon, natural zing and earth shift all have great prices!

I guess I didn’t realize when I began reading (a couple weeks ago) that you had given up your sweets for Lent- I thought you were just superdisciplined (which you ARE) and didn’t need sweets. It kinda makes me feel better this way though- ha ha. Smoothie idea sounds off-the-wall incredible! Can’t wait for it!

Have a great Monday, girl 🙂

  38. Jessica on April 5, 2010 at 8:40 am

GTL! LOL! So funny. I’d have laughed so hard if that was on my latte.

  39. Shelly on April 5, 2010 at 8:50 am

So speaking of foam rollers could you (or have you already) do a post on exactly how to use them? I just bought one b/c a massage therapist said it would really help my IT bands, which are, apparently, tight as all get out (which explains why my knees tend to get sore)- I feel like I don’t currently have a problem, but that there is a good potential for an injury to that area if I leave it as it is, if that makes sense. But I’m not very experience with a foam roller- I’ve used one in Pilates once and that’s it. Any advice on how to use it for my legs would be SO helpful. 🙂
