The Roon Bearer

Hi guys!

Sorry I’m a little late posting today, but I’m in Orlando now! Wahooooo! 😀

orlando

Since I’m ditching out on the pilot for a week, I took him out to dinner last night at 306North (nevermind that we share bank accounts, it’s the thought that counts haha)

He had a Fat Tire:

burr

And I rolled with a Riesling:

vino

or two 😉

For our meal, we didn’t get anything crazy… we’re creatures of habit.

Goat cheese fritters with celery and green apple salad, balsamic reduction

ritters

House salad:

Doughy wheaty bready goodness

Veg plate

Perfection 🙂

This morning, I packed up my car, grabbed my little white fluffball Bella, and left the casa bearing macaroons

This road trip to Orlando was a lot more exciting than usual because I had planned a bloggy meet-up in Gainesville on the way 😀

I was so stoked to have brunch with Lindsey (on the left), her hubby and Jenny (on the right) at a bfast fave, The Flying Biscuit.

We had a blasty chatting and these girls were just as awesome as them seem on their blogs- I’m excited to do more meet-ups in the future, as I drive through Gainesville quite a bit.

For my meal, I chose the Hollywood Omelet with no cheese, salad instead of fruit and they brought me some wheat toast instead of the biscuit.

(It had a glorious tomato compote on top)

Bella chose the kid’s chicken:

She was a good girl and laid under the table when she wasn’t eating or making friends with people 😉

The food was wonderful and the company was even lovelier <3

I’m getting settled at my aunt’s house and am going to hit up the gym before dinner. Then, who knows??

See ya soon,

G$

PS. I tried listening to The Host on the way here… not a fan so far :/ Does it get better???

Nice dinner with the man! I totally thought of you today. I went to the Charleston Farmers Market and picked up FRESH South Carolina Goat Cheese. I cannot wait to eat it. I have a feeling its going to make its way into tonights dinner. What a fun bloggy meet up (haha I just typed meat up). We totally have to get together one of these days

I didn’t like the first part of The Host either. My friends keep urging me to try to get through chapter 7 though. 7 chapters that I don’t enjoy doesn’t really seem worth it though!

Awww, looks like a fun meetup! Gina you look so cute!!! I love your hair! 🙂

And LOVE reisling! Esp. in the summer <3

You’re in my home town! I miss it! 🙁

Everyone I talked to that has read The Host says the first half of the book they didn’t like but were completely in love with it after the second half!

  9. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on April 3, 2010 at 5:29 pm

Those goat cheese fritters sound amazzzzing.

  10. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on April 3, 2010 at 5:35 pm

Gina, The Host starts really slow but gets better. I’m about halfway through the book and am liking it now. Have fun!

  11. Brittney on April 3, 2010 at 5:43 pm

    You look way hot.

I owe you an email. Soon!

  12. Kayla on April 3, 2010 at 5:45 pm

That all looks yummy. I tried The Host and barely made it through 1 chapter. I heard the 7 chapters thing too but agree that it doesn’t seem worth it.

  13. Jennie {in Wonderland} on April 3, 2010 at 5:51 pm

You look awesome; especially your hair. So does the bread and salad, lol.

I had sunflower seed bread and salad tonight and it was the perfect, perfect dinner. With a touch of red wine, my belly is happy.

I have to say – blasphemy – that I am not a fan of Meyer’s writing, so haven’t even bothered with The Host. I can’t stand Twilight – though R Pattz is hot – so I figure I wouldn’t like this one either.

  14. Gabby on April 3, 2010 at 5:52 pm

We read The Host a couple of years ago in our book club and everyone said the same thing. You really have to hang in there. It gets so good- I couldn’t put it down. Hope you have a wonderful vacation!

  15. Manda on April 3, 2010 at 5:55 pm

Just keep reading… I know you like Twilight so, I’m pretty sure you’ll like The Host.

  16. Teri [a foodie stays fit] on April 3, 2010 at 5:59 pm

    yes, The Host gets better!

    enjoy your trip!

  17. Laura on April 3, 2010 at 6:04 pm

Yeah, about the first 150 pages of the Host are zzzz… but they’re essential to the story, and it ends up being such a great story, even better than Twilight, I think.

    Have fun!

    Have fun in Orlando!!!

The host gets better —especially the audio which is how I got it. I was really turned off by the narrator’s voice (OK I’m assuming this was one of your Barrel audio books right?) because it was boring and kind of robot-like, I guess because of the character she plays; but I ended up listening to it like three times.

    • Fitnessista on April 4, 2010 at 9:15 am

yep i’m listening to the audio and CAN’T STAND HER VOICE. good to know you ended up liking it!

  22. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on April 3, 2010 at 8:47 pm

Gina you are so effortlessly gorgeous! I really love seeing what you eat when you dine out. That is usually when its a bit more troubling for me to eat healthy. Thanks to you I courteously ask for whole wheat bread and switch my sides up for veggies as well. Thank you for your tips 🙂

    • Fitnessista on April 4, 2010 at 9:14 am

      thanks, michelle! <3

  24. Lindsay (Waking Up Hungry) on April 3, 2010 at 10:27 pm

The Host will get better! I almost threw in the towel when I started it, but I am SO GLAD I stuck through it. It’s great!

    Have a fun trip!!

  25. Jenny on April 3, 2010 at 11:02 pm

Haha what a flattering picture! I had a great time- and loved those macaroons:) see you soon hopefully!

  26. Shelly on April 3, 2010 at 11:09 pm

    • Fitnessista on April 4, 2010 at 9:13 am

thanks, girl! honestly, i changed the part the other night from the right side to the left.. it’s an easy way to add some oomph when you’re hair is feeling a little blah

  27. Allison @ Food For Healing on April 4, 2010 at 12:53 am

  28. Jaclyn on April 4, 2010 at 1:15 am

You guys aren’t spending Easter together? :/
Glad you made it safely and looks like that was a fun blogger meetup!

    • Fitnessista on April 4, 2010 at 9:12 am

no, we hardly get to spend easter together– he’s usually TDY and since he had work stuff (he actually had to work today), i really wanted to come see my family.

  29. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on April 4, 2010 at 3:27 am

Love the vino drinking pic and the one w/ your girls! Have a Happy Easter, Gina!!!

  30. Brittany on April 4, 2010 at 6:38 am

As soon as I finished the Twilight novels, I picked up The Host in hopes of discovering another great Stephanie Meyer novel. Boy was I upset.

I got maybe 3/4ths through the book before I couldn’t handle it any longer. It was alright, I guess, but I was expecting another Bella/Edward love story 🙁

  31. Trish on April 4, 2010 at 7:14 am

I just finished a road trip last week and listened to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies – I highly recommend it! I’d never read any Jane Austen before, but now I’ve gone and gotten all of her books on my nook.

    • Fitnessista on April 4, 2010 at 9:11 am

the pilot has read that one, and loved it! 🙂

  32. Gena on April 4, 2010 at 7:44 am

Glad you guys are having some out of town fun!!! Lovely dinner.

  33. Sara K. on April 4, 2010 at 9:16 am

I always get that at the Flying Biscuit! Hollywood omelet, no cheese and salad. I like the wheat biscuits though. SO good.

    • Fitnessista on April 4, 2010 at 9:30 am

they didn’t have the wheat biscuits at this one 🙁 the wheat toast just wasn’t the same.. but it was still delicious 🙂

  34. Krystin on April 4, 2010 at 6:12 pm

Wish I knew you’d be in Gainesville! I’m a long time reader and was kicking myself in the booty when I saw you were literally TWO minutes from my casa! Sad, sad story.. maybe next time! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on April 4, 2010 at 8:49 pm

GAH! i’m sorry girl! i drive through all the time though- next time let’s meet up for sure!

  35. Katie on April 4, 2010 at 10:54 pm

  36. Kate on April 5, 2010 at 10:18 am

    • Fitnessista on April 5, 2010 at 10:27 am

  37. Briana on April 5, 2010 at 5:03 pm
