These things happen

Hi friends 😀 How was your Friday?

It’s a gorgeous night over here <3 The sunsets in AZ are totally unlike anything I’ve seen elsewhere. [and I’m 100% biased because I’m from here]

I didn’t go too cray cray with the hair cut… just got the dead ends taken away 🙂

Shaggy:                                                                           Better:

hair            hair (2)

{belly sighting!}

Some eats 🙂
yogurt

Post-TurboFire protein yogurt with:

-1 container vanilla sheep’s milk yogurt (from Whole Paycheck)

-1/2 scoop Sun Warrior

-almond milk to thin it out

-frozen organic blueberries

-vegan chocolate chips

-cinnamon

I only had to go into work for a few hours, so I packed up lunch and a snack:

lunch

Teff tortilla, the last of the Snobby Joe leftovers and 1/2 avocado with a drizzle of honey + raw sunflower seeds

The avocado filled me to the brim! It was an awesome dose of healthy fat and I haven’t really been hungry at all..

well, except for gluten-free cookies.

cookies

These things happen sometimes 😀

Off to make the Pilot some dinner, perhaps an omelet for myself and then see a certain someone at the airport.

See ya in the morning! <3

xoxo

Today’s tip: No need to get into a lunge rut- change up your traditional lunge by including some dumbbells for extra weight, add a compound move (like upright rows, lateral raises or bicep curls), add a leg lift (hi glutes!) or knee raise, elevate your back leg to change it into a split squat, or perform a combo of forward, reverse and lateral lunges.

Hahaha! Yes indeed, they do! Those cookies look awesome though, and well worth it 🙂 I had a Peanut Butter Nana’s Cookie recently, and OMG that thing was amazing <3 As amazing as a cookie can be, lol! 😉 I had it fresh from the fridge so it was moist, dense, chewy but not crumbly and fragile. So so good – you're making me reminice and crave it, Gina! 😛 That photo of the sunset looks incredible, I love how you've framed it too. And one more thing that struck me…honey on an avocado!? I've never even THOUGHT to do that…is it good?! (Obviously it is, lol!) It sounds amazing, and I must try it…great healthy snackage 🙂 xyx

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of compound moves whenever I am doing lunges. It really helps break the monotony and definitely makes it harder. I much prefer doing them that way.
Love the belly shot! Super cute!

  3. Yolie @ Practising Wellness on July 8, 2011 at 11:21 pm

PS: sweet little baby belly shot up there, you’re rocking your beautiful bump 🙂 And have fun with Mara! 😀 xyx

Lahhhhve the new hair. Cado with honey is my addiction these days — I’m ready to try out raw honey! 😉

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2011 at 11:23 pm

i love raw honey! the texture is different (in a good way) and it tastes the same

  5. Holly @ The Runny Egg on July 8, 2011 at 11:31 pm

I did split squats in my strength routine yesterday — those are killer!!!

I had 1/2 an avocado with dinner tonight too – in smoothie form, but still, it has kept me very satisfied!

  6. Karin on July 8, 2011 at 11:34 pm

    Adorable belly!

  7. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on July 8, 2011 at 11:43 pm

Your hair looks great…either way. I told you earlier that I love the messy, full, hair, too. I think it’s uber chic and hot 🙂 New hair looks awesome as well!

And those Udi’s? Have never tried them. Good to know they’re a-okay 🙂

  8. Kat on July 9, 2011 at 12:14 am

Ohhh I sorta liked the shaggy hair! Lol. I want to see your belly, please. Thanks 🙂

  9. Laury on July 9, 2011 at 12:14 am

I’m soooooo jelly of the hair cut! I usually don’t go too crazy with my cuts either. I’m a wuss, but lately been really considering donating to locks of love. Still on the prenatals so hope it grows rapidly!!! I love the avocado with raw seeds. I eat both of those all the time in a microgreen salad but now I may ise ur method of snacking with the seeds on the avocado! Yum! I’m loving the teeny weeny itsy bitsy fitnessista belly bump 😉

Your hair (and belly) are way cute! I really need to get my hair cut.
Great tips on the lunges! Lunges are really a love/hate for me.

  11. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on July 9, 2011 at 1:01 am

Aww, so cute! We got a hair cut in the same day! I have before and afters on my blog today too! Those snobby joes look excellent, and it is cool how filling avocado can be! Your baby bump looks adorable too.

  12. Jen on July 9, 2011 at 1:01 am

Where do you buy those teff tortillas? The only gluten-free tortillas I’ve found are either brown rice tortillas, or standard corn tortillas. The brown rice tortillas taste fine, but they fail when it comes to making wraps, because they always tear!

By the way, I just did lunges with dumbbells yesterday! Adding extra weight makes any exercise so much more worthwhile.

That is seriously one of the most beautiful sun sets I’ve ever seen!!

    Hi Fitnessista!
Congrats on the baby news (I know I am super late on that train!) I have been following you for a long time now and I am new to the food blog writing world. You are very inspiring and you and other food bloggers have pushed me to a deliciously healthy lifestyle that includes absolutely phenomenal indulgences. You are a beautiful person. I am so so happy the Pilot is home with you (yay!!) and I understand your worry (I never realized how much I would worry about a boy until I had one). Congrats again!
ps-your workouts are kicking my butt! I LOVE it.

Wow, amazing shot of the Arizona sunset – I’m stuck in rainy England and am so jealous! My husband and I made it as far as Scottsdale on our last US roadtrip – I know we really need to make it all the way to Tucson on our next visit. Your day-to-day photos make me yearn for the sunshine all the more!

(congrats by the way. i’ve been reading a while, and am so happy for you!)
