Things about Two

Two is so big, yet still so tiny at the same.

Two can be reasoned with… Two also knows how to (try to) reason with YOU. (Right before bed, she’ll say, “I have to go potty. Because I get a chocolate chip.”)

Two is old enough to ask questions. (“Is dada flying airplane? VROOM! Like that?”)

Two is curious about the world around her, still trying to make sense of everything.

Sure, two is sticky hands, a car full of crumbs, and some tantrums. (Oh man. The tantrums.)

But two is really:

snuggles on a hammock chair before naptime,

dance parties in the kitchen,

hide and seek with shrieking laughter,

a bundled burrito with Minnie Mouse ears after a bath,

glimpses of kindness, sharing and her own conversations with other kiddos,

hugs sotight and kisses so sweet, right on the lips.

Excited to see what the next two days, two months, two years will bring. But for now, I’m soaking it all up. <3

Aw man, this gave me the weeps. My little guy is only 4 months and I both dread how fast his babyhood is passing by yet I cannot wait to see who he becomes.

Ok, go ahead and make me cry! This is so sweet. You’ve described my Baylie EXACTLY (and yes, she is even called “Baylie Burrito” after the shower. Except it sounds more like “Bayeeeeto!”)

Bronwen has been fully potty trained since June and sometimes she’ll still ask while going on the potty, “I get a chocolate chip, right?”

  9. Britt on January 23, 2014 at 7:37 pm

This is beautiful. Have you ever thought of taking these kinds of posts (These sweet ones, ones about Liv, etc.) and turning them into a book? There is a website called blog2print.com that allows you to do that. It may be something to look into so you can have these sweet posts all in one place to give to Liv one day!

Two is my absolute favourite age – of all of my cousins and kids that I’ve baby sat or nannied over the years, two was always when they were the cutest and sweetest and did the most heart warming things. I have no idea why people go on and on about the terrible twos!

  11. Melissa on January 23, 2014 at 7:53 pm

Beautifully written. I Cherished those moments, still do. My children are 10 and 8 . Every stage is wonderful in its own right. The saying ” they grow up in the blink f an eye” is so true. Enjoy!

My little boy will be 2 in a couple of months and I am amazed at how much his personality is finally starting to come out. It’s so much fun to actually be able to really interact with him now!

I work at a kids’ clothing boutique and we have a shirt for toddlers that says, “2s Aren’t Terrible, I’m Having A Blast!” Haha

Awe, this post made me tear up. I hope our fertility journey turns out positive and we get to experience this joy. It’s been a long, tough and rocky road. But it will all be worth it if we get to experience the kind of joy that Livi brings to your life. 🙂 thanks for sharing Gina.

Aww! My little girl turns two next month. I’m in the midst of planning her “fishy” birthday party. This past year has definitely gone fast, but I love the age she is at (even if it does include some elaborate tantrums).

  26. Traci on January 24, 2014 at 11:39 am

So sweet! The part about her reasoning with YOU made me laugh out loud. :]

  28. Sarah on January 24, 2014 at 1:23 pm

2 is…. My 2 1/2 year old daughter, who came up behind me this morning as I washed breakfast dishes, placed both of her hands square on each of my butt cheeks, and pressed up, holding that pose. Her response to my “What are you doing baby??” : “Mommy I’m lifting you up!”
    She has my back. Literally.

  29. Haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine on January 24, 2014 at 4:25 pm
