Unicorn Tears

Hey friends! How’s your weekend going so far?

Mine has been bueno 🙂 Thank you SO much for all of your dress shopping tips. So many amazing suggestions! Ill be on the prowl this weekend…

I planned to do a Bodyrock workout before work today, but decided to run errands and to-dos instead. It’s been a weird week getting back in the swing of life after being away last weekend- my suitcase still hasn’t been unpacked! I’ve also fallen way behind on emails, so if I haven’t gotten back to you yet, mayjah apologies, and I’ve made time tomorrow to be an email machine 😀

So yesterday morning, I figured out the secret to helping cereal keep me full for longer than 3 minutes

cereal

adding protein + healthy fat in the form of an amazeball and a hefty drizzle of goat’s milk kefir

It kept the growling stomach at bay for 4 hours- ballertastic.

Per usual, work was a little fun today 😀

me and liz

That’s my friend Liz, who is having a baby girl this summer, and we’re wearing our new print: UNICORN TEARS!

Two things:

1. Who came up with that?!?

2. Somewhere in the world, lululemon is paying unicorns to watch The Notebook.

Lunch was leftover Greek salad with added quinoa and goat cheese

Snack was a smoooooothie

smoothie2

(almond milk, 1/2 avocado, 1 scoop Sun Warrior, 1 scoop Standard Process dairy-free, strawberries, cacao powder)

and dinner was courtesy of my friends at Pei Wei, enjoyed with roomies.

pei wei3

The kid’s teriyaki shrimp + vegetables with brown rice never does me wrong 🙂

I’m off to see where the night takes us! I kind of want to see the Justin Beiber movie…

Have a lovely night <3

Gina

*Heads up: Sun Warrior promo is confirmed for next week! Thank goodness… my stash is getting low 🙂

Something to talk about: Trying any new workout classes or running a race this weekend? I’d love to hear about it!

Whenever I have cereal I stick my spoon in the AB jar first and swoosh it around… otherwise I end up eating half the box 😛

That lulu print is really pretty… I’ve been meaning to get to the new store in Charlotte and take a peek at their stuff!

it’s like the middleman between milk and yogurt. it’s fermented diary so it’s high in probiotics and tastes lovely and tangy 🙂

  7. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on March 4, 2011 at 11:46 pm

Goat’s milk kefir..I have had goat’s milk. And I make my own coconut milk kefir. But never had goat’s milk kefir. But I used to buy it for Skylar when she was a baby, well about 18 mos, until I figured out how to make my own countertop kefir. What can I say, Im cheap 🙂

Congrats to Liz! I always get goosebumps when I hear someone is expecting!

    Have a great weekend, Gina!
    🙂

Gina, I always love your blogs, but “Somewhere in the world, lululemon is paying unicorns to watch The Notebook” is far and away your best sentence ever. I’m still laughing. Thanks for bringing the joy every day.

I love the tip on the kid’s Pei Wei meal! I always put a big ol’ plop of peanut butter in the bowl before I add the cereal and milk… peanut butter surprise in every bite! 🙂

  12. Namaste Gurl on March 5, 2011 at 1:07 am

That’s the trick I’ve found when eating cereal– adding protein powder, as well as seeds, nuts and fruit! Enjoy the movie!

  13. Lisa on March 5, 2011 at 1:22 am

I am running a race! It’s a 10 miler and the longest distance I’ve ever run. Eep! It’s practice for my first half marathon in 2 weeks!

I kinda love the unicorn tears print even though the name is a bit absurd. I think it’s pretty!

I love those shorts, and the print is awesome! Even though it’s quite strangely named, haha.

  24. Stephanie on March 5, 2011 at 9:17 am

Cereal is nothing but a snack to me unless I add walnuts, chia seeds, raisins, blueberries and a sliced banana. THEN it’s breakfast.

  25. Carla on March 5, 2011 at 9:36 am

Oh I know everything from that line is gorgeous. I bought a ton at the biltmore store the other day 🙂 Waiting for the CRB and for us to get those cute run shorts your wearing! we should be getting them next week!

I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it again. I LOVE the bangs on you! Best decision ever to get those!

I saw the Biebs movie last weekend, with my 13 year old cousin. I don’t care what anyone says, his music is so catchy. Makes me want to dance! I told me cousin that I’m pretty sure she is his type.

Congratulations to your friend having a little girl soon! 🙂

  31. Meghan on March 5, 2011 at 10:58 am

Love the amazeball in the cereal. I have a fiery passion for cereal but tend not to eat it too much because it never sticks with me – until I started melting peanut butter and drizzling it on top. Its the only thing that gets the job done for me now.

  32. Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife on March 5, 2011 at 11:07 am

I love pei Wei too! P.s. my cereal is only amazing/filling if I add protein to it too- like nuts or nut butter 🙂

  33. Amanda on March 5, 2011 at 11:17 am

Hi Gina – random question for you. A while ago, you mentioned that you were creating a vegan meal plan for a friend of yours in a fitness/body building competition. If the competition is over now, could you please share the meal plan with us, maybe as a RR? Thanks so much!

    • Fitnessista on March 5, 2011 at 2:07 pm

sure i’ll share the meal plan! he only lasted 2 days until he was eating chicken wings though 🙂

  34. Carrie on March 5, 2011 at 11:41 am

How cute are you in those shorts! Adorbs.

I tend to eat a half box of cereal at a time too, but then write it off because it was Special K afterall. Then I figure out how many calories I just consumed… haha. I don’t buy cereal anymore for that reason.

  35. Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn on March 5, 2011 at 11:47 am

I love new prints!! I want a pair of those, too cuteee. Slash I am obsessed with avocado lately, it is so creamy and delicious and makes my chocolate milkshake a million times creamier!

  36. Jessica on March 5, 2011 at 12:06 pm

I love the shorts. Very cute!

I recently started taking Pure Barre classes and I’m obsessed!

  37. Tracey on March 5, 2011 at 12:09 pm

Damn, Gina! (Haha…Martin Lawrence.) Your legs look amazing! 😀

Ok Unicorn Tears is hilarious — My sister has a t-shirt with a unicorn pooping a rainbow — I know, not the same thing, but I thought about it and laughed.

I never would have guessed your friend is pregnant — she looks fantastic!

  39. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on March 5, 2011 at 12:53 pm

Cute shorts! I’ve actually been needing a new pair… I think I need to add a shopping trip to today’s agenda. 😉

I want to loose 15-20 pounds and I can’t do it alone, I was wondering if you know of any spas where they control and monitor what you eat?

    • Fitnessista on March 5, 2011 at 5:39 pm

canyon ranch in TUCSON. come visit!!

      • Dana Marie on March 6, 2011 at 11:36 am

hmm I think I need more control and less frills. It looks expensive and they don’t list prices..

  42. Kara on March 5, 2011 at 2:42 pm

Did you know that when unicorns poop, it’s actually how rainbows are made? True story.

  43. Amanda @ The Artsy Kitchen on March 5, 2011 at 3:13 pm

Your Pei Wei picture made us crave it even more! Up here in Scottsdale, they are closed! Yep, Arpirio did a raid and most up this way are closed for now 🙁

Perfect excuse for a road trip “down South” no?!

    • Fitnessista on March 6, 2011 at 11:07 am

      what?!?! why??????
exactly, just come down to t-town for pei wei 🙂

  49. Lauren C. on March 7, 2011 at 12:25 pm

What’s with the animal tear colors? At Old Navy, there is a jacket and the color is ‘Crocodile Tears’. I’d like the rationale for this. 😉
