Vino, Salmon and Holly

Hey! HAPPY SATURDAY!!!

Sorry I was MIA last night- sometimes you just need to lay on the couch, drink a glass of vino and watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Which is exactly what I did 🙂

Before making dinner, I had some lovely millet bread:
millet

(Earth Balance, maca and cinnamon)

Then pan-seared some wild-caught salmon seasoned with sea salt, pepper and Organicville BBQ sauce and put it into the oven to bake (about 15 minutes at 350)

salmon

We had our salmon with wilted spinach(olive oil, onion, spinach, sea salt, pepper, garlic, cayenne and a splash of lemon juice) and the pilot also had brown rice with his:

salmon and spinach

(I smeared some more BBQ sauce on top)

We watched The Soup while we munched our salmon feast, and broke out the organic vino:

vino

I just had a tiny glass because I have a LONG run today..and don’t want to feel every ounce while I’m running.

We also had some popcorn with sea salt and nutritional yeast:

popcorn

Amazing 😀

This morning, we slept in (and it was GLORIOUS!) and just got back from taking the puppers on a long walk.

I’m gonna take it easy for right now and have some breakfast, because in a little while I’m running 12 miles with Kelly and Meara. I haven’t ran that far in quite some time, so here’s hoping I make it 😉

Have a wonderful Saturday!

xoxo,

G

Today’s tip: Take the weekend as a chance to plan a fun workout that you might not get to do during the week. Running 12 miles isn’t *fun* per se, but the chat fest we’ll have is definitely a good time 😀 Take a new aerobics class, check out a yoga studio, or put in a new fitness DVD.

Good luck on your run! I will be on the RAD (as your call it) doing one of your treadmill workouts! Enjoy the outdoors, it’s still too cold here to run outside…very jealous!

Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of my faves! I think I got it from Target for $5 too. Have a great run today!

Oh enjoy that run! We are having a nearly 40 degree day in Boston so I will be outside for every minute of it!!!

Good luck with the run. You are lucky to have running buddies! No one I know likes to run so it’s just me by my lonesome. 🙁

  6. Rachel on February 20, 2010 at 11:12 am

Isn’t Audrey just the best?! No matter how many times I’ve seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s, if it’s on TV, I just have to watch it! Last night was no exception.

Enjoy your run and the rest of the wknd!

I love Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Sometimes staying home and having a movie night is just perfect. That’s quite the run–good luck!

Do you have any tricks for getting the nutritional yeast to stick to the popcorn? Mine always falls to the bottom 🙁

  10. Danielle (Coffee Run) on February 20, 2010 at 11:31 am

I LOVE watching The Soup 😀
Good luck on the run! You’ll rock it 😉

    Hey Gina!

Have you heard of Physique 57? I bought their DVDs about 7 months ago and have been doing it religiously in addition to spinning/kickboxing/yoga/running etc. and it is INCREDIBLE.

You would love it! It combines strength training with ballet.

    Let me know your thoughts!

Great tip about weekend workouts! Sometimes I find it difficult to motivate myself to work out on Saturdays and/or Sundays, but scheduling a workout that’s different, “fun,” or even just a change of pace is great encouragement!

Breakfast at Tiffany’s – my fav movie of all time! They don’t make movies like that anymore. Characters in those days had class and elegance.

  14. Susan on February 20, 2010 at 11:44 am

wow that’s a good run you’ll be doing! Just wondered what the nutritional yeast is like in the popcorn? Does it taste good? Would you usually add it? Thanks, if you’d still like the Happy Pear cookery notes, let me know. Have a fun weekend.

We had salmon last night too! I topped it with sliced tomatoes, feta, and a sun-dried tomato olive oil. Hope you have a great run!

  20. Catherine on February 20, 2010 at 12:15 pm

Good luck on your run! Ah that salmon looks good, but unfortunately outta the question since I gave up fish/meat, etc for lent and am going full vegetarian.

That salmon looks so good!!! I’ll have to try it like that.

  23. Brooke on February 20, 2010 at 12:35 pm

Do you put anything on your popcorn to make the nutritional yeast stick? I like the flavor of the two together but it does not stick for me.

    • Fitnessista on February 20, 2010 at 12:50 pm

i drizzled melted earth balance on top (or organic butter), or spray it with olive oil 🙂

  24. Tammy on February 20, 2010 at 12:37 pm

I watched part of Breakfast at Tiffany’s last night too…Every time I see it I notice something I didn’t notice before…

  25. brittany on February 20, 2010 at 12:58 pm

I know basically every line of breakfast at tiffany’s! I fell in love with all the glamour and of course the love story!

  26. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin on February 20, 2010 at 1:03 pm

I haven’t watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s in so long! I think I’m going to have to remedy that. 😉

Good luck on your run today! I’ve got a 10-miler tomorrow, and I’m kinda dreading it right now. But I’m always so proud when I’m done! And chatting with girlfriends helps a lot!!

  27. Jessica @ Fit and Clean on February 20, 2010 at 1:43 pm

Have fun on your run! I’ve just decided that I didn’t have enough training for the ING in March in the ATL…I just wasn’t enjoying myself, and felt like I was under a deadline. Looking for another local 1/2 marathon now 🙂 And that salmon looked fantastic, I will need to pick up some of that BBQ sauce! Thanks for the tip!!

  28. Kelly on February 20, 2010 at 1:48 pm

How do you make yourself just have one little sip!? I have no self control when it comes to red wine and before I know it the bottle is gone. I should work on that, definitely felt dehydrated during my workout today. Good luck with your 12 miles!

  29. caronae on February 20, 2010 at 1:54 pm

Good luck on the long run Gina!

Have a FAB rest of your weekend 🙂 🙂

Hope you have a great 12 mile run! I haven’t ran that far sine my 1/2 marathon. Actually the longest I’ve ran since that’s just over 6 miles. Guess I need to pick it up again.

  36. MelissaNibbles on February 20, 2010 at 6:33 pm

Breakfast At Tiffany’s has to be one of the best movies ever made. Your night sounds like it was very relaxing. Hope the run went well!

  37. Kristilyn (My 29th Year) on February 20, 2010 at 6:44 pm

That salmon looks delicious – I’ve been craving that for a while!

I’m really going to have to try nutritional yeast sometime soon – it sounds interesting!

Have fun on your run – I did 7.2 miles today and was wiped!

  38. Sara on February 20, 2010 at 9:50 pm

The nose thing. In the name of research, I just surfed back through the photos your blog thinking I must have missed something, but I still can’t see anything wrong with your nose. If it doesn’t work well, then yeah, get the surgery. Otherwise I’m pretty sure that most people never notice that it’s been broken (ouchy!). You are a very pretty girl, and clever, which is even more important.

  39. Kristen on February 21, 2010 at 2:14 am

12 Miles! Wow. I have a long way, I can barely run 1 mile!

Sounds like a good day though 🙂

  40. Jessica on February 21, 2010 at 8:21 am

You are so right about getting in a fun workout on the weekend. We live on 200 acres, and rarely do I take the time to hike around all of it, and through the woods. That is exactly what I have planned for this afternoon.

  41. Erika on February 21, 2010 at 9:35 pm

New to your blog and I love it – question – why do you seem to generally eat millet bread – I am a bread fanatic

    • Fitnessista on February 21, 2010 at 9:49 pm

because it’s DELICIOUS and so healthy. give it a whirl, i think you’ll like it 🙂

  42. All Women Stalker on February 22, 2010 at 10:25 am

Lovely, lovely salmon. Mmmm. And gosh, I love The Soup. I’m not a big fan of popcorn, though. I hate how it gets stuck between your teeth.

  43. Sonia on February 22, 2010 at 6:16 pm

Mmm that millet bread combo sounds awesome! I was wondering about how you put nutritional yeast on popcorn…I airpop my popcorn and I don’t think the yeast would “stick” to it…do you butter it?

    • Fitnessista on February 22, 2010 at 8:20 pm

i either put melted earth balance on it or spray it with olive oil
