Water for Bella

Hi friends 😀 How was your Friday?

I’m a little late posting tonight because today was full of taxes and then I met some friends for dinner and a movie. We’ve been anxiously waiting for Water for Elephants to come out, so it was the obvious choice 😉Water-For-Elephants Source

The verdict? SO good.

Robert Pattinson is so very nice to look at… but I’m ready for my personal Edward to be back 😉

I’ve read the book (and listened to it on CD- it’s that good!) and the movie told the story beautifully. It also did an excellent job of reminding me how much I hated the circus owner’s guts. It’s worth seeing, whether you’ve read the book or not.

It *almost* made me want an elephant, but this little thing has the keys to my heart:

belly5

She didn’t even make it the full distance of her walk today before deciding it was quitting time. I had to carry her, like a poodle noodle, back to the car 😉

You guys are probably wondering what the Pilot and I decided about Tiffany, the beautiful and sweet little dachshund….

we decided to wait.

Bella is a playful little thing and Tiffany is more of a “let’s just hang out” kind of girl. She’s still very timid, and we wouldn’t want Bella to torture her by begging her to play. Also, we shoud wait until we hear news about the house. So that’s the deal :/ I’m bummed about it, but at the same time am certain that the perfect family will adopt her this weekend.

Some recent eats:

Egg with brown rice toast, salsa and nutritional yeast

egg

Peanut butter and jelly smoothie for my tax wizard friend

smoothie

(almond milk, Sun Warrior, banana, mixed berries, peanut butter, honey)

Packed lunch

lunch

Protein muffin!

muffin

(Deb, your recipe is better… and bigger… than mine)

Well I’m off to crash but just wanted to say hello before I check in for the night 🙂

See ya tomorrow!

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: Have you read any books that are pretty much exactly like their movie version? I have yet to find one.

I can’t wait to see that movie! I LOVED the book and read it way too long ago. In fact, I remember while reading, I was thinking “they should make this a movie!” I think I’ll talk the boyfriend into taking me tomorrow;)

  3. mi-an on April 23, 2011 at 1:38 am

Wow what a princess that bella is haha so cute.
good decision on waiting, things will work out how they were meant to. and she will find a great home too.

  6. Halley on April 23, 2011 at 1:48 am

The Princess Bride is almost the EXACT same as the book!! It’s practically the screenplay.

  7. Lynny on April 23, 2011 at 1:51 am

I have been waiting for that movie to come out too! I wasn’t able to go see it tonight, but hopefully soon. Can’t wait! 🙂

  8. Lauren on April 23, 2011 at 1:57 am

So glad to hear that movie is good Im seeing it tomorrow! And I have serious dog fever. I may throw caution to the wind and stop talking myself out of it soon and get one. Just broke up with my boyfriend who was allergic so what better time then now.

    haha.

  10. Paije on April 23, 2011 at 4:43 am

I think they did a really good job of the movie Sleepers. I LOVE the book and totally loved the swoonfest movie version 🙂

  11. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on April 23, 2011 at 5:54 am

I dont even go to the movies anymore. It’s been 5+ yrs since I’ve gone. I know, crazy, but true. I’d rather read blogs, read magazines, and read ABC books in all my spare time so I am no help on the movie stuff.

I think it’s great that you had the willpower or judgment or whatever you’d want to call it to take a pass on Tiffany until you get your house, get life more settled, and also b/c of their differing temperaments and personalities. Good call, very mature of you my dear 🙂

Happy Easter and enjoy your weekend!

  12. Cathy on April 23, 2011 at 5:59 am

glad you had fun at the movie, gina! and wise decision on tiffany – thumbs up for doing what’s right for her – and for you guys, right now!
i never see movies anymore of books i’ve read (did read WFE) because i’m always disappointed with the changes they make. or, if i see the movie, then i refuse to read the book after!
    have a great saturday!

  13. Cait @ Beyond Bananas on April 23, 2011 at 8:01 am

Thanks for the info on Water for Elephants.. I plan on seeing it when it comes out on DVD.. that way I will have time to read the book first 😉
Tiffany will most certainly have the perfect home! When the time is right, you and the pilot will find the perfect addition and bff for Bella!

  14. Brittany (Eating Bird Food) on April 23, 2011 at 8:32 am

Did you like the microwavable protein cake? I made a one before and had to throw it out. It tasted like I was a eating a bland sponge. haha

  15. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on April 23, 2011 at 8:33 am

I really want to read Water for Elephants! I’m hoping to get out and buy the book today. 😀

  16. Errign on April 23, 2011 at 8:39 am

I really want to read the book & then see the movie. 🙂

No, I’ve never seen a movie & read the book & had them be the same. My favorite book is The Time Traveler’s Wife & the movie was a little disappointing, I thought.

  17. Chelsea on April 23, 2011 at 8:45 am

Ah I read Water for Elephants so so long ago and I’m psyched to see the movie! :))) I was going to see it last night but it just ended up being a hectic night so we decided against it lol. Maybe tonight though!?

  18. Holly @ The Runny Egg on April 23, 2011 at 9:01 am

Almost always the book is way better than the movie — here is my proof: the Twilight series, The Lovely Bones, and that is all I can think of right now 🙂

I want to read Water for Elephants before seeing the movie — but good to know that the movie is good!

  19. Krista on April 23, 2011 at 9:14 am

I saw it last night too and it made me want an elephant. I came home and gave my cat a BIG hug & kiss. Oh, and I wasn’t attracted to Robert in “Twilight” but he had me drooling in this movie!! 🙂

  20. kate@ahealthypassion on April 23, 2011 at 9:26 am

I havent heard of that movie haha im so out of the loop I cant tell you the last time I went to a movie, your pup is precious I love her personality!

  21. Joelle on April 23, 2011 at 9:29 am

loved, loved, loved the book. Read it in a sec. couldn’t put it down. I usually hate to see movies of books I read because they never really do them justice. Books are so much better. This one I did want to see and now I will definitely go!

  22. Ashley @ Will Run for Food on April 23, 2011 at 9:33 am

Books and movies just can’t compare…since books let you into the characters’ thoughts and emotions and I feel like that would be hard to replicate on screen. And the movie would have to be really long to fit in so much detail! I love books! 🙂

  23. Kristi on April 23, 2011 at 10:11 am

I saw is last night too and loved it! This was the first time I have seen Robert Pattinson that made me appreciate his looks. Yum! Of course the book is better than the movie, just because that’s usually the case. But I thought it was very well done! One of the previews shown was for “The Help” which is coming out in August. I can’t WAIT! It is my favorite book and I really hope they do it justice.

  24. Chelsa on April 23, 2011 at 10:38 am

I can’t wait for The Help movie to come out in August!

  25. Megan on April 23, 2011 at 10:40 am

I can’t wait to see Water for Elephants. I really think they did a great job with casting and am excited to see it.

  26. Dana Marie on April 23, 2011 at 11:39 am

I had a pretty good Friday- I had a job for Bobbi Brown Secret of the Universe Concealer! It was chilly out, but good vibes. Bloomies is so chic! I’ve never shopped there. Have you or anyone else? I haven’t read any fiction to movie things — Last thing I saw was Meek’s Cutoff. Michelle WIlliams was there at the premiere and a bunch of other celebs! It was pretty good. AND I recommend Cracks with Eva Green.
I have Love in the time of Cholera on my DVD player, but I haven’t seen it yet! Javier Bardem is usually very good though.

  27. Amanda on April 23, 2011 at 11:56 am

Thanks for the review…I really want to see Water for Elephants!

  28. Carrie on April 23, 2011 at 12:08 pm

I’ve read the screenplay is better than the book, which makes me optimistic because while I enjoyed the book, I thought the ending was so cheesy in how everything wrapped up in a nice, neat bow. Plus, the movie just looks so damn pretty.

    • Fitnessista on April 23, 2011 at 12:19 pm

it was very beautiful to watch!

  29. Ashley @ Feeding Ashley on April 23, 2011 at 12:20 pm

Aw Bella’s pictures always make my heart melt. I’ve never seen a movie that was better than the book, ever.

  30. Christine (The Raw Project) on April 23, 2011 at 12:27 pm

I’ve been thinking about seeing Water for Elephants, looks great! The smoothie and muffin sound great.

  31. Gina B on April 23, 2011 at 1:45 pm

I love the book “Water for Elephants”…can’t wait to see the movie! A funny aside: My fiance is on a golf trip in AZ, and before he left he mentioned being in the Fitnessita’s turf. Today he texted me that he saw a farmer’s market, and was commenting on how you just might be there! I think it’s cute that he actually listened when I told him about your blog 🙂 He got bonus points for the farmer’s market comment! 😉

    • Fitnessista on April 23, 2011 at 4:26 pm

that is so cute! today was the first time in a LONG time that i actually wasn’t at the market.
you should have joined him! 🙂

  32. Tracy on April 23, 2011 at 2:36 pm

I loooved that book and can’t wait to see the movie!

Do you know if there will be a Sun Warrior promo coming up soon? I’m almost out…sniff, sniff…I’ve been trying to ration it! Hope there is one soon!

    • Fitnessista on April 23, 2011 at 4:26 pm

      next month!

  33. Amanda on April 23, 2011 at 2:46 pm

IMO, the book is always better than the movie! Two other fun ones to do a book-movie comparison are Virgin Suicides and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

    • Fitnessista on April 23, 2011 at 4:26 pm

      looooooove breakfast at tiffany’s 🙂

  34. kristi (sweet cheeks) on April 23, 2011 at 2:50 pm

SO glad to hear the movie was good! I can’t wait to see it! I was supposed to go last night but plans ended up getting canceled. I’m hoping i get to go tonight!

  35. Moni'sMeals on April 23, 2011 at 2:55 pm

good to know about the movie, I am seeing it today! Glad you loved it. I should like it then. 🙂

I finally made some AMAZE BALLS! why did I wait so long, geesh! they are ammmmmaaaaazzzzing! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on April 23, 2011 at 4:25 pm

glad you liked them! i’m obsessed 🙂

  36. Lauren on April 23, 2011 at 3:55 pm

I thought the movie was pretty good, although I was equally angry at that man! I was wondering if you were planning on doing another summer shape up this year??

    • Fitnessista on April 23, 2011 at 4:25 pm

yes for sure! 🙂 still trying to figure out the deets

  37. Diana on April 23, 2011 at 5:19 pm

I can’t wait to see Water for Elephants! I’m finishing up the book right now. 🙂

As for movies that are like the book…the only one I can think of is Interview with a Vampire. They made the movie almost just like the book! They are two of my faves (in their respective categories). 🙂

  38. Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) on April 23, 2011 at 9:04 pm

Yay! So glad you like the muffin. It saves me constantly when I’m hungry and want something chocolaty & decadent! Thanks so much for the link!

  40. Kath on April 24, 2011 at 9:51 am

Why do you always eat egg-whites and never full eggs?! The yolks have some very good nutrients and the fat isn’t bad.

    • Fitnessista on April 24, 2011 at 10:52 am

i eat at least one yolk every day. since i have eggs multiple times a day, it wouldn’t be healthy to have the yolk every single time

  41. Christin@purplebirdblog on April 24, 2011 at 12:00 pm

From what I can remember, the book The Green Mile and it’s subsequent movie version were very similar (and both AMAZING!)… but that shiz is old! lol 😉

  42. Natalie M. on April 24, 2011 at 12:11 pm

A Time to Kill with Matthew Mcconaughey was exactly like the book! Enjoyed both very much.

  43. Julie S. on April 26, 2011 at 12:10 pm

I always like the books better, too, but I thought the Twilight movies have been pretty true to the books. I’ve also liked the Harry Potter movies. It’s not very often that I will go to the movie if I’ve read the book – always ends up disappointing. Just saw the “Lincoln Lawyer” recently, though, & it was very good.

    • Fitnessista on April 26, 2011 at 12:49 pm

i want to see that- love matthew 🙂
