We Have Life

Heyyy bloggies hey Smile How’s your night been? Hope it’s lovely <3

Remember the sprouts I started the other day?

sprouts

We have LIFE!

Can’t wait to throw those bad Johnnies on a salad.

This morning, I took Bella for a walk on the base trail:

walk

and did my first Bodyrock workout. I’ve heard a lot of good things about these workouts from the Twins, and love the fact that they can be done at home with minimal equipment.

interval

Today, I did the “Ass-busting workout.” That it did.

The whole thing took me about 35 minutes and I was DRIPPING in sweat. I felt kind of hardcore doing it with all of the Air Force peeps around Winking smile I can definitely see myself incorporating these workouts a couple of times each week, especially when I’m pressed for time.

Post-workout smoooothie:

smoothie

It was actually one of two smoothies I enjoyed today Smile At work, I made a Xoom juice run and also dipped into the community almond butter (in addition to my packed lunch). It’s been a snacky kinda day <3

I’m off to catch up on emails, start my new book proposal (thank you for all of your tips and kind words this morning) and then make some dinner.

See ya on Fashion Friday!

xoxo

Something to talk about: How important is it for your eating habits to align with your favorite bloggers? For example, I know some people that only read vegan blogs if they’re vegan, veggie blogs if they’re veggies, and so on. For me, I read tons of blogs with all eating styles under the sun. (Don’t usually comment because it’s via iPhone and I suck at typing, but I lurk many amazing blogs) It’s fun to get ideas from bloggers who eat kind of like I do, but feel like food is just a conversation piece in healthy living blogs. It’s the blogger’s daily shenanigans and personality that I care about the most.

Today’s workout jam: “More”  by Usher. This song helped me push through my last set of intervals this morning—it’s overplayed on the radio right now, but it’s catchy and I lurve it… and Usher Winking smile

I totally used “More” to get me through the end of my workout today too! And i’m with you on reading all different kinds of blogs, veg/vegan/meat eaters or not! everyone is interesting in their own way outside of food too!

Holy cow. That’s some serious sproutage going on! I need to try that 🙂

  3. Parita@myinnershakti on February 11, 2011 at 12:24 am

Hello! I don’t necessarily align with bloggers who are just like me. I actually tend to love blogs that are different from mine, have lots of personality, and are just fun to read! I think by reading different perspectives and learning new things, I am able to be a better blogger myself. 🙂

  4. Melissa on February 11, 2011 at 12:29 am

Now that you’ve got me thinking about it, a lot of the blogs I read are veggie/vegan!

And I’ve never heard of BodyRock. I need to check it out!

  5. Jaime on February 11, 2011 at 1:28 am

I read any and all kinds of food blogs. I don’t subscribe to any specific “diet” and find ideas all over the place. Some of faves are vegan blogs because they can be very creative!

love bodyrock! i’d love to hear your ‘trainer’ perspective on them. they never feel long enough to me (even tho they are hard!)

I read all kinds of blogs, but I prefer blogs that have at least a general focus. I mostly read food blogs, healthy living blogs and education blogs. Although I’m a vegetarian, I happily read blogs by people who eat just about anything.

bodyrock is AWESOME!!! Let me know how you like it. Such great exercises!

  9. Katie~ Run For The Bikini on February 11, 2011 at 7:04 am

LOVE LOVE BodyRock, it rocks! 😀 I’ve been doing it for about a month and I think it has even made me faster. And Stronger 🙂

I don’t have any set guidelines for my diet; I’ll eat anything, but try to keep it healthy. I don’t visit that many food blogs, but I do like to get some ideas from the ones I do.

I will read anyone’s blog as long as it’s interesting. Most that I read are veg friendly, but yours and Meghanns aren’t and there two of my favorites.

    wow! so soon! that’s amazing

  12. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on February 11, 2011 at 7:45 am

I read lots of different styles of blogs too. For me it’s more about the blogger’s personality than their eating habits! And even if a blogger has a different diet than me, I can still get some ideas from them.

I LOVE bodyrock workouts. They’re intense but amazing!

I like to read blogs about bloggers I have things in common with, but I read tons of blogs about all different eating styles! For me, personality, beautiful pictures, creative recipes and just an all-out cool blog win over whether or not the person eats differently than I do! 🙂

That being said I like your blog for all of the above reasons 😀

    xo

I only read 2 blogs (you and HTP) unless I follow a link for a recipe or story…only because I think I’d be on the internet all day if I tried to keep up with more. I don’t follow any strict eating habits, but have always tried to eat healthy. Your blogs have inspired me to try new things and make even healthier substitutions. Sometimes I can’t seem to wrap my mind around eating like you or Caitlin since I don’t feel satisfied without eating chicken or fish at least once/day, but I still enjoy your blogs and find them very motivating! 🙂

How important is it for your eating habits to align with your favorite bloggers?
A lot of the blogs I read are vegan/vegetarian, and while I’m not either of those things, I’ve noticed that I’m drifting towards incorporating more of those kinds of recipes into my own diet. I don’t think I’ll ever go totally vegan or vegetarian (I like meat too much, and I’m married to a dedicated omnivore!), but what I eat is definitely influenced by what I read. It isn’t a perfect match, but I don’t stress out that I’m not “veggie-oriented” enough after reading some of my favorites: at the least, it motivates me to get more variety in my diet 🙂

  16. Mimi on February 11, 2011 at 10:20 am

I gravitate toward vegetarian blogs, but the main thing I look for is just healthy eating with positive spins. Therefore, I read a pretty good variety — Which is good, because I learn different things from each!

  17. rebecca lustig on February 11, 2011 at 10:30 am

I think you raise a great question! I try to expose myself to a large variety of blogs– particularly in terms of dietary behaviors but also of exercise, faith, political views, music, etc… so I can live with an open minded and respectful of others. Plus, in terms of food, I love trying new things so I like to draw upon inspiration from wherever I can find it!

  18. carolinebee on February 11, 2011 at 10:49 am

I most definitely read any and all foodie blogs! I’m mainly drawn to the personality of the blogger, and their stories, but also foodie presentation and photography. I actually stumbled upon a “fashion blog” the other day, as a guest post of a foodie blog..and it was SO crazy- it was like Through the Blog Looking Glass 😀 It’s just a whole other “world” of blogs/bloggers…with their own styles, terminology and *drama* lol…it was fun to browse around!

  19. Jess@atasteofconfidence on February 11, 2011 at 10:52 am

I like to read all kinds of blogs, but I probably identify with those who eat similarly to me. But I like the personalities, stories, etc more than the actual food!

I saw my sprout jar the other day! maybe its time to get it out again! About the cup you use to take your shakes with you, where did you get it? It would be great to take mine to work for lunch or late day snacks! Just gotta say I tried Sun Warrior protein powder and I love it!! I also love my Livewell 360 bag! I get tons of compliments!!

    • Fitnessista on February 11, 2011 at 11:34 am

i’m so glad you love the bag- everyone asks where i got mine! sun warrior is a definite win too 🙂
the cup is from tj maxx- it’s a glass shaker and i adore it 🙂

I really want to try making my own sprouts and I think I’m going to look for a sprouter next time I’m at the health food store. SO FUN! And I lurve sprouts on my salads & sandwiches.

I read all kinds of blogs, but they’re all either healthy living or recipe blogs. I follow veggies, vegans, meat eaters… I love it all. I do love to read about people shenanigans and sometimes wish I could incorporate that kind of stuff into my (recipe) blog, but who would want to read about my life ;P I like reading about others… Sometimes I think things like… I wonder if my readers (do I have regular readers?!) would want to see things like what I keep in my pantry or in my fridge?? I’ve done the whole question at the end of the post, but no one ever answers them… :l Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

  22. Clare @ Fitting It All In on February 11, 2011 at 6:53 pm

I read all kinds of blogs, though I’m a vegetarian. I love all the creative ideas, even if I just use a sauce or replace chicken with tofu. To mean it’s more about the personal stories than the recipes!

  23. Renee Raskin on February 12, 2011 at 10:41 am

Hi…I am trying to understand the Bodyrock concept. Do you just choose any workout? Is there a certain order? I can’t find anything that explains how it works.
Thanks so much for any help:)

  24. Leslie on February 12, 2011 at 11:01 pm

I read all kinds of blogs from decorating/style, and lots of food blogs (mostly vegan, some raw, but all kinds). It’s the lifestyle that sort of leads me to ’em, but ultimately, it’s the blogger’s personality that keeps me coming back!

I think you’re so cute and awesome, and your blog is one of my tops!!

    • Fitnessista on February 13, 2011 at 11:39 am

      thanks girl! 🙂
