Week of giveaways: Final Giveaway- ENDED

This week has been pretty much amazeballs. Thank you again to everyone for participating, sending blog love, and for your kind and wonderful comments. I’m truly lucky to *know* all of you, and am also grateful to the companies who generously sponsored the week of giveaways.

Breakfast cookie2

Congratulations to the Home Goods giveaway winner!

Mary:

“I LOVE the poppy flower wall decals in my kitchen. They do a great job brightening up the space.”

Please send me your info (fitnessista at gmail dot com, subject: HOME GOODS WINNER!) and I’ll get your prize on the way 🙂

Today’s giveaway, the final one, is sponsored by one of my all-time favorite workout companies, along with Livi and Bella.

I fell in love with Physique 57 two years ago, and if we had a studio in Tucson, it would be one of my regular workout spots. Nothing has made my thighs thighs and biscuits burn quite like P57. I’m so glad they have DVDs you can do at home if you don’t have a studio near you, and I’ve done the DVDs quite a few times in addition to the usual workout suspects. I see and feel a huge difference when I have P57 in my life, and anytime I’m in NY or LA I’m excited to take a live class.

The winner of this giveaway will receive a volume 2 Physique 57 DVD, courtesy of Physique 57,

NewImage

and will also win a Polar FT40 heart rate monitor, which I’ll order for you,

NewImage

plus a batch of custom macaroons (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon with cacao nibs and goji berries, or Meyer-lemon lavender)

NewImage

and whatever Whole Foods/TJs goodies find their way into the box 😉

I absolutely love my Polar heart rate monitor and wear it for all of my high-intensity workouts. Since I know how much I’m burning, I can get an idea of how much more I need to eat that day, and I always push myself a little harder when I can see how hard I’m working. It’s a fantastic workout tool and was even more helpful while I was pregnant, so I knew not to let my heart rate get too crazy high.

-With the Summer Shape Up beginning this week, this giveaway will end on FRIDAY, 6/15.

This giveaway has ended! Congratulations to the winner, Natalie.

This is my favorite giveaway so far the DVDs and the polar monitor are some things I have wanted for a very long time but I could never afford them on my own! There are sooo many reasons I have been reading this blog for the past four years but mainly because you offer so much variety! I love the Focus On post, they may be my favorite and I go back to them frequently whenever I’m deciding to try a new fitness class or DVD. I’m only 21 but I love the family post because I take of a baby full time, and you have been very helpful! I would like to see more videos! Things like how to’s (more hair ideas please!) , product reviews, fitness challenges/ quick workout videos. Hope this helps :)

Thank you so much to all of you for your amazing feedback, comments and sweet wishes. I’m so fortunate to have you in my life, and stay tuned for many more giveaways!

Thank you all so much for reading my little blog and for hanging out with me over here <3

Here’s to another amazing year!

xoxo

I love your blog! I would love to see more recipes and/or a more structured recipe section. Otherwise, keep up the good work!

  3. Amanda on June 14, 2012 at 5:16 pm

What a great giveaway! I love that the blog is realistic and doesn’t read like an advertisement for a bunch of fancy fitness gadgets. The only thing I could use more of is maybe some more recipes. I love recipes and healthy cooking how-to’s! And an updated Food page with a roundup of the most common ones.

  4. Tiffany on June 14, 2012 at 5:36 pm

I love your blog! I like the different tabs with the family posts and fashion posts in a separate area! Such a good idea! I’d love to see more recipes.. I’ve tried a couple of yours like the breakfast cookie and protein pancakes and really enjoyed them!

  5. Kristen on June 14, 2012 at 5:42 pm

I love how approachable your meals are, it’s given me some great inspiration to add versions of your quinoa salad and salad beasts into my meal rotation!

  6. MMiller on June 14, 2012 at 5:44 pm

I love all of your family posts the most these past months! But I also love all of your recipes and tips! My health keeps me from working out, but I try to eat better than I used to, and you give me great ideas!!

    Happy Blogiversary!!

Things I love : Diversity- it’s the perfect mix of lifestyle, family, fitness, and food. You are super motivating, in both fitness and life. You convey such an positive attitude, and make healthy living seem so attainable. I also really appreciate that you don’t sugarcoat everything. It must be hard to live you life in a relatively public way, and I think that’s pretty amazing.
Changes: More videos – I love the hair tutorials and tips, and workouts of course!
Things I’d love to see more of : Keep the recipe inspiration coming. I love that you use reasonably easy to find ingredients and nothing is too over the top. Makes it easy to stay focused. And I personally wouldn’t turn down more pics and videos of the cutest baby ever!

I absolutely love your blog! It’s the only one I consistently follow (and have for two years now! time flies!). Not to sound cliche, but I can’t think of any changes you could make. I love that Meg is doing the fashion pages (she has some seriously great ideas & style!), and I adore the family page (Livi is such a sweet little peanut!). You do a wonderful job of balancing recipes, workouts, and reality. Most importantly, you seem to live life by following the golden rule, and I truly admire that. Thanks for the constant motivation and positivity! Keep up the great work 🙂 Happy Blogiversary!! Here’s to another fabulous year!

i love… your blog! really, I’ve been now reading HLBs for a couple years, and yours has really pulled ahead as one that continues to hold my interest. the recipe ideas, the workouts, and even your daily life – so much helpful information, and you’re so genuine.

  12. Zainab on June 14, 2012 at 7:05 pm

I love your blog and the fact that your approach to health and wellness is one I can relate to. We are in a similar age group and I also recently had a baby so it was great to read your pregnancy posts in addition to your usual posts. I love that you have made your workouts printable although i usually just pull up your blog on my phone at the gym and follow the exercises. Overall this page just gets better and better! I would say keep up the good work Gina, you are awesome.

  13. Kerry on June 14, 2012 at 7:07 pm

I love the workouts you post! You do such a good job with them! I would love to see some more at home cardio workouts that don’t involve equipment. Maybe some more plyo workouts, etc. Anyways, I think you do a great job with this blog and I always look forward to reading your new posts!

  14. Meagan on June 14, 2012 at 7:22 pm

i love your blog! def one of my faves 🙂 more printable workouts are always good and i can’t get enough pictures of that precious girl of yours!!

  18. Kim on June 14, 2012 at 8:42 pm

I just want to say thank you! Your positive outlook & great tips/workouts that you share with everyone are so inspiring!

I like all the workouts that you post. I’m hoping to get pregnant soon & would love to see more of your Bun in the Oven workouts. 🙂

  19. Ryann on June 14, 2012 at 9:16 pm

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog and have so enjoyed seeing your family grow from two to three (or three to four, including Bella!). I, like other commenters have said, truly appreciate your honesty and candor and I hope it continues well into the future. I think you’ve given me a wonderful glimpse of what being a new mom is all about. 🙂

I would like to see the workout section organized by beginner vs. intermediate vs. advanced (or however, you get the idea). I’m not a natural work out “person,” so I feel intimidated by all of the options and I have no idea where to start!

  20. Shanii on June 14, 2012 at 9:33 pm

Can we only post once? Well anyways I love your blog and just how real you are and how much you share with us even though you don’t know us personally. It really makes you relatable and just more trustworthy 😀 I would like to see more workouts with modifications for those who have a bad back or bad knees. Just like common modifications that people can do when there are lunges or squats etc 😀

I liked your pg on FB!

I love your blot and I love seeing Pics of Bella! Shes so adorable!

After years of reading, I’m finally doing this year’s Summer Shape-Up, and I love it! I especially like the printable pages with photos showing what to do. But what keeps me coming back are your creative recipes and positive, upbeat personality. You inspire me to turn meals into salad beasts and to make protein-packed smoothies.

One thing I’ve found a little tough to get used to is that most of the posts about Livi (and the Pilot) are under the Family tab…I often forget to click over there so I miss whole weeks of posts! I think it could be awesome to alert us on the main tab posts that you also added a Family one so that way absentminded people like me won’t forget to look.

    Also, I pinned the Summer Shape-Up: http://pinterest.com/pin/200762095859392533/

  24. Cara H. on June 14, 2012 at 10:46 pm

I love your “focus on” posts. Would love to see more recipes. Meg is doing great with the fashion posts. I look forward to reading your blog every day!

  25. Lisa on June 14, 2012 at 10:50 pm

I love your work out tips and can always use more! The videos are great bc it’s so much easier to get when you watch someone explain as they go. Also, I would love more recipes…your bfast cookie is my favorite thing I have found on any blog!!

  26. Nicole G on June 14, 2012 at 10:59 pm

I’d love to see more recipes! And of course, more stories about Olivia – can’t enough =)

  27. Meagan N. on June 14, 2012 at 11:46 pm

My favorite thing about your blog is just reading about how you continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle… you’re very positive
I’d love more Mexican food recipes… your photos leave me drooling.

  28. Mari on June 14, 2012 at 11:59 pm

I love your blog! I’d like to see more recipes, exercises, and family posts. Keep up the awesome work! 🙂

  29. Caitlin on June 15, 2012 at 12:01 am

I love all the photos, recipes, and focus on posts. Pretty much everything! It also means a lot to me that you are so real with us, and talk about what it really means to be healthy. It’s important to live guilt free an to enjoy life, and I feel like you really are sensitive to that with all topics. Thank you for being so thoughtful Gina!

  30. Marie on June 15, 2012 at 12:28 am

I love most things about your blog… which is why I keep reading- but, if I had to pick something that I really enjoy it is your honesty. I love that you aren’t afraid to tell it like it is and admit when you were wrong, like with the baby bedding 😉 I would like to see more Zumba stuff like playlists, videos, etc. Also, maybe more traditional Mexican recipes. I loved your horchata recipe. Your Nana is obviously a fabulous cook- maybe team up with her and document some of her favorites. I’m not sure if you have her recipes written down but as someone who lost one grandmother when I was very young- I wish someone would have done that. Everyone in my family always talks about how great Grandma Maxine’s whatever was but no one knows how she made it and I was way to young to remember. Sorry to get sappy on you there. Love your blog- happy blogiversary!

  31. Marie on June 15, 2012 at 12:35 am

Just pinned your sweet potato & black bean chili. I make it all the time in the winter!

  32. Michelle on June 15, 2012 at 1:26 am

I love your blog and I love that you share all aspects of your life with us. You have such a sweet family and it makes me smile to see how happy you guys are in the pictures that you share with us. Thank you for inspiring me to be better in all ways 🙂

  33. Joe on June 15, 2012 at 1:28 am

I love your recipes! I have been trying to eat more “real” foods and your recipes inspire me to do just that. Keep it all up. Your blog is my favorite!

  34. Ruthie on June 15, 2012 at 1:39 am

Only a couple things I can think of as far as feedback goes. First is some organized, streamlined way to access your incredible content (recipes, workouts, focus on posts, etc.). I know I can click on the different tabs where you’ve listed your favorites; I’ve enjoyed collecting and saving the bits and pieces in your posts from day to day; and ditto for starting at the very beginning and working my way back to the present. BUT without doing that, I feel like I would’ve missed so much because a ton of that info only exists within the individual posts. Does that make sense?

Also, would there be a way when you post playlists for us to be able to just click on something and play right then and there on our computers or phones? Perhaps create & share Fitnessista playlists via Spotify or something like that?

It’s been really fun in just the year or so I’ve been reading to see how much growth and change there has been in your life and on the blog. I can tell all of that was leading up to this much more involved Shape Up (btw, my very first one & I’ll be following it to a T!), for one! Excited to see where else you go with things down the road. Whatever changes you make, please don’t stray from who you are or what you do so well because there is just something about you & this all that drew me in — prob some combo of your outlook and attitude toward things, overall lifestyle, eats, workout style. I don’t have a fraction of what you do going on in my life, yet you seem to be able to take on and tackle so much more than I feel I could handle. I really don’t know how you do it all, but it’s incredibly inspiring and VERY much appreciated. You’d be missed if you ever stopped blogging, so I hope even through the rough patches you keep on keeping on.

Wow, sorry this turned into such a long comment but just wanted to make sure you knew how much you’re impacting even those of us out here laying low. Whether or not I end up commenting much (or again, even), you can bet stopping by your site is part of my journey to better health and fitness, and just plain part of my daily routine.

I absolutely love your blog! So much that this is actually the first time I have ever commented on one. I love that your blog is such a nice mix of workouts, food, fashion, and family. It never gets old and shows that a busy lifestyle can be balanced with a healthy one. The only thing I could recommend would be more Family posts. Even though I’m no where near ready for kids, I feel like I have learned a lot of good tips for the future!

  39. Katie Fox on June 15, 2012 at 8:28 am

I love your honesty… somedays are good some are bad and that’s ok! I like how you have tabs up top to seperate different types of posts and I have really been enjoying the “Fun” tab lately. A more structured recipe section like the Recipage?? Might be nice to make finding your delicious recipes even easier. Also perhaps a way for readers to subscribe to get comments and feedback through their email? Like when they submit a comment if you respond or another reader responds it alerts them through email. Just a few suggestions… keep up the good work!

  40. jill on June 15, 2012 at 8:50 am

I love everything you are doing right now! I would love to see you continue to post your quote of the days if possible, I really enjoy them.

Thanks for sharing your life with us!

Happy Blogiversary!! I love reading your blog and I am especially loving the summer shape up! I am working very hard to get more real food into my diet and less junk food. Thank you for all the meal/snack ideas and awesome workouts <3

  42. Shannon on June 15, 2012 at 10:02 am

Happy blogiversary! I’ve been reading your blog for a couple years now and really love it. It’s very motivating to see pictures of what you eat — I really think it’s the reason I started craving and looking forward to eating giant salad beasts for lunch! But I also love seeing the times when you let yourself have splurges. I think it helps people see that you can eat healthy most of the time but indulge in the stuff you love sometimes too without gaining weight/being unhealthy. Loving the family posts and now Meg’s fashion posts too!

  43. Jessie on June 15, 2012 at 10:22 am

I like your blog just the way it is- you show such a nice balance of workout time, family, friends, healthy eats and tasty desserts!
