Weekend stuff

Last night, the Pilot and my brother went up to Phoenix for the Celtics game. So after my girls’ night dessert party, I had a glass of Malbec and decided to spend the rest of the evening being gloriously lazy. I thought I’d watch some TV and actually pay attention instead of catching little snippets here and there. I browsed the Amazon Prime selection (free streaming movies and TV) and when I didn’t find anything I really wanted to watch, I decided to listen to you all and give Downton Abbey another try.

I understand the hype now.

The only thing the first episode gave me was the desire to speak with an English accent. Other than that, it left me in a bored, dazed stupor -which made me think I was just weird and couldn’t “get” why everyone loves it- but episodes 2 and 3 SUCKED ME IN. I fell in love with the characters (Maggie Smith is quite a little firecracker) and the scandal sealed the deal. I’m excited to catch more episodes when I have a free 48 minutes to spare.

Today has been busy but bueno. I worked -taught a pool class- and when glide didn’t go, my friend and I got to crash the Zumba party that was occurring at that time. To make things even more exciting, only two girls came to bootcamp after Zumba and said, “Can we just keep doing Zumba instead of bootcamp?” It was like Christmas.

Lunch of champions:

Lunch 1 of 1 2

(chicken, black beans, 2 eggs, salsa, spinach and a homemade corn tortilla)

I’ve also been enjoying bites of this:

Cake 1 of 1

(it’s our neighbor’s bday)

and shared a little with my best girl. It was her first time trying ice cream cake and I think she was a fan 😉

Outside

Not sure what’s going on tonight, but I’m kind of dreading the rest of the construction cleanup upstairs. Every time I come upstairs, I’m reminded of all the work we have to do and keep reminding myself that it will feel so good when it’s over. This weekend I’m also making a few new recipes to post this week 🙂

What are you up to? Any fun fitness plans? The weather is gorgeous again, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s run with the jogging stroller.

Have a great night!

xoxo

Gina

I totally know what you mean about Downton Abbey. It took me a good 1 1/2 episodes to really get into it! After that, I was hooked, and I can’t quite get enough. It gets much better once you give it a chance, that’s for sure.
I hope to go to a spin class tomorrow morning. It’s 2 hours, so it might kill me, but we’ll see;)

Umm, excuse me but when did Liv get so big?? Lol. What a cutie pie! 🙂

As far as fitness plans go It’s super cold and gross in CT so thankfully yoga teacher training is inside…starting with a power class tomorrow morning!

Go celtics!!!! Born and raised Bostonian right here! Oh and my BFF from Tucson is visiting and she keeps talking about all these places that you mention (Sabino canyon, the Air Force base, the outdoor malls etc.) every time she talks about one of those I say “I know that place!!!” Feel like I know Tucson just from you two!

I just can’t get into downtown Abby. I recently started watching the Americans and have been loving it so far.

My mother-in-law was in town last weekend and we watched 7 episodes, I think everyone really liked it! It gets juicier each episode.

I need to watch Downtown Abbey! Everyone I know is raving about it! I’m so glad you like it!

  10. amanda on February 23, 2013 at 11:18 pm

someone somewhere seriously needs to make a gluten free, dairy free icecream cake. those baskin robbins cakes were my favorite thing ever as a kid. I think I’d simply die and go to icecream cake heaven (a gf, df version – haha).

I think one of the earlier commentors said something along the same lines…but I totally feel/act as if one of my best friends lives in Tuscon. The following conversation ensued today:

Me: So, I hear that (work friend of my dad’s) is going to Tuscon this week!

Dad: Yup! It even snowed this week.

Me: I know!!! I saw pictures one of my friends posted!!

Dad: Really? Who do you know that is in Tuscon?! (I live in NY, hence the question exclam response 🙂 )

Me: Oh, you know… my favorite blogger?

🙂 So glad to share the upstate New York snow with you! You can actually have it all…all the time. Really, I wouldn’t mind!!

    • Brittany on February 24, 2013 at 9:23 am

I do that too. I always catch myself saying “my friend Gina” yet I also look to you as a celebrity! I’m going to Tucson in a few months and I thought “if I saw Gina I would scream like a little girl!” If I did see you would it be ok to come up and say hi?

      • Fitnessista on February 24, 2013 at 2:23 pm

are you kidding?! i’d love to finally meet you! let me know when you’ll be here and maybe we can catch a zumba class together

        • Brittany on February 24, 2013 at 11:17 pm

You are so sweet. It doesn’t look like I’ll be in Tucson for a little while now. Sad. But I still plan on going within the year. I would love to meet you!!!!!

    • Fitnessista on February 24, 2013 at 2:20 pm

      aww thank you! 🙂
and as far as the snow goes, i’ll happily take a little off your hands. i’d love to make a snowman!

It’s amazing how addicting downton is. Just finished the season 3 finale and I feel like I’m part of their family lol.
Finished up wsu this morning before the babe woke up! It was definitely bitter sweet and I think I’m going to go ahead and start over from week 1.

  16. Jane on February 24, 2013 at 7:43 am

Hi Gina!! I found your blog last week and have been enjoying catching up! I have a weird request …

    Um…

Would you be willing to post a couple back and side views, in addition to a straight-on front view, of your hair, and *maybe* if you ever have time consider doing a tutorial of how you styled it in that picture with your gorgeous baby girl (or atleast tell me how you style it and with what product?)

I know that isn’t “fitness-y”, but you could post it in the fashion section?? You’re a BUSY woman, mama, employee, dog owner, wife … so I’m sorry to add to your plate with this request. But I love your hair and am growing mine out for the first time in my life, and am having difficulty a) telling the hairdresser what I want and b) styling it so it looks as good as yours. You have the whole Sandra Bullock/Kate Middleton thing going on and it’s just so beautiful 🙂

    Thanks for the consideration. Jane

Since WSU is over, I’m starting Zuzana’s workout DVDs. I’ve done a couple and they have just about killed me.

  18. Jena on February 24, 2013 at 9:43 am

I hope you share a before and after of your renovations!!
I’m in the middle of kitchen renos myself and holy I can’t wait till things are clean and tidy again!!!

    • Fitnessista on February 24, 2013 at 2:24 pm

i definitely will once we get everything cleaned up! it’s taking forever because we have to switch off watching liv, and because of work schedules only have time over the weekend

  19. Danielle on February 24, 2013 at 10:03 am

Sounds like the perfect weekend complete with loads of Zumba! Perfection in my book!

  20. Jeannie on February 24, 2013 at 2:59 pm

Finished WSU today(a day late) and still just love week 4 so much!
This week I am going back to week 10 of James Wilson’s program. It’s a 12 week program and I stopped at week 10 to do WSU. I will probably do WSU again after I finish his training or maybe follow along your March workout calendar which I never did before. 🙂
This weekend lots of errands and chores..nothing special..time to go meal prep!

  21. Jay on February 24, 2013 at 5:34 pm

Love Maggie on Downton Abbey! She is hysterical. THANKS for the save the gym hair. I am going to start trying not to wash my hair every day, but don’t know how people do that when they work out (and sweat, I sweat. A lot.) every day! Anyone?

    • Jane on February 24, 2013 at 7:31 pm

Hey Jay … a good dry shampoo is worth its weight in gold 😉

      • Fitnessista on February 24, 2013 at 8:46 pm
