Welcome back, shrimp

Hey hey hey 😀 Happy Monday!

Thank you so much for your sweet comments about the house. I talked to the Pilot this morning, and while he said he needs a little time to think about it, it looks favorable 😉 We should know for sure by tomorrow!

kitchen

(LOVE the open area and gas stove- we would stain the cabinets, build an island and put in granite countertops)

After I got home last night, I reunited with one of my all-time faves:

shrimp

How I love ze little shrimp.

I didn’t intentionally ditch shrimp, I’ve just been loving on salmon and eggs more than usual. It hit me last night at TJs that I haven’t had shrimp in SO long!

I sauteed some shrimpies in olive oil with sea salt, red pepper flakes and pepper

and made a caesar dressing using *this recipe* with goat’s milk kefir instead of cashews:

dressing

with goat cheddar shavings for *garnish* 😉

cheddar

Salad beast of my dreams:

caesar

Every shrimp bite, a foodgasm.

salad

With a full belly, I settled onto the living room floor with a cup of tea (I’m a floor person- I’d rather sit on the floor than anything, especially when I’m working) and *tried* to get some blog stuff done. Html is a little punk, let me tell ya. If you know an awesome web designer who is familiar with WordPress, please let me know! I’ve contacted 3, all of whom are too busy with other projects. The blog is jonesing for a makeover 😉

For b-fast this morning, I broke out the juicer:

juice

juice (2)

and enjoyed my cup of green with some gluten-free waffles.

waffles

(with goat cream cheese and blueberry sauce)

I’m off to work!

Today’s plan:

-Work

-Target, post office, tailor

-Little bro’s bday dinner

See ya later this afternoon!

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: What’s something that you’ve *wanted* to learn, but for whatever reason, it hasn’t happened yet? I’ve wanted to learn more about web design and blog stuff (usually I just call Mara crying and she fixes whatever I broke). Another thing I’d like to learn more about is photography… maybe I’ll read my camera manual one day? 😉

Something to think:

“If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue. Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. Those are the three things the ego is doing all the time. It’s very important to be aware of them every time they come up.”

bummer about Pasta Queen! I’m not surprised. Here’s a classmate of mine, an amazing guy and healer, who is also a great web wrangler. He did websites for many people I know, and does big and small: http://www.evotion.net/index.html
I know how hard it can be to get a tech person who ‘gets it’ 🙂

Drive! Did I just admit that, Eeep. Yea, I can’t drive. I haven’t even attempted in a while though and my confidence is up in ALL areas right now; I think its time to give it another go 😀 More confidence in your ability = Greater success 🙂

The woman who did my site makeover has also done work for Kath and a few other bigger bloggers and she is wonderful and responsive. If you want her info, just email me. I’m sure she could help you right away as she understands how important having your site be up and running, live, and glitch-free is. Intimately familiar with FoodBuzz, self-hosted word press, and getting everything to mesh. They took me from Blogger to Self Hosted WP and transferred nearly 2 yrs worth of posts and pics…girl, it was a project 🙂

    Anyhooo….

That shrimp salad makes me sad b/c I used to be able to eat shrimp and then when i was 24 became suddenly deathly allergic to shrimp. Ended up in the hospital with a closed airway. So, I can never have shrimp again. Boo. I loved it!

    Enjoy it for me.

And your house…good job on working over Pilot 🙂

I love those big windows in the kitchen !! My kitchen is SO dark 🙁 … it’s in the interior of the town house and it pretty dark most of the day. Can’t wait for natural lighting in my kitch.

I would LOVE to be better at web design so I could fix up my blog myself. My header SUCKS. lol. If you find someone you love… pls post about it ?

    YAY for shrimpies !

Web design, and let’s face it – computer skills in general – are what I’d like to learn more about. Aside from that, I want to learn more about cooking…actual instruction, instead of just winging it.

Good luck deciding on your new home! I think it can be bittersweet when it’s being done from a distance though. I really wanted to pick out a new place with my boyfriend when he moved out here from Norfolk but I found the *PERFECT* place 3 blocks from the beach and on a hill with an oceanview. Even though I was a *teeny* bit sad we weren’t discovering it as a couple, it was so amazing that I asked him to trust me. He did and we’re both here now and LOVE our home. It’s also definitely helped by the fact that we’re together again after more than 2 years long-distance!

that makes me feel better- i know it’s been hard for the pilot to do this from afar

Much of the design work I do is in wordpress if you’re still looking for someone.

That house looks beautiful, especially the balcony off the bedroom! No matter where you guys end up you will make it spectacular. You have amazing taste.

I have been trying to learn HTML and CSS stuff. I found two websites with free tutorials that have been helpful: http://www.w3schools.com and http://www.goodellgroup.com/tutorial

The second one is for teaching kids, but it was perfect for me. (How sad it that?!)

    • Fitnessista on March 7, 2011 at 11:03 pm

      awesome, thank you!!
if it’s for kids, it will be exactly what i need 😉

That home is GORGEOUS! I love the kitch, I would kill for one bigger than mine!

  19. Ash on March 7, 2011 at 8:38 pm

    that’s a pretty kitchen!

question: what’s the difference between goat’s cheddar and goat’s mozzarella?

I wish I played the piano– when I was younger I went to some keyboard classes, but it’s not the same thing — I love the idea of being able to be some where and randomly tickle the ivories and have a sing song

That kitchen looks awesome and the changes you would make sound even better!

I’ve always wanted to learn to play the guitar, and I’ve tried a few times, but I always give up after a few weeks! 😛

    • Fitnessista on March 8, 2011 at 11:02 am

thank you! it’s time for the bloggy to grow up a little, though. i promise it will be even better and more organized than it is now

  27. Alicia on March 8, 2011 at 10:43 pm

I’m new to your site, and I love it!!
Question: Do you post all the recipes to the yummy snacks & smoothies you make??[ex: the green drink? is that a green tea smoothie?]

And another question for ya: Is it common to be more hungry while working out more? I want to cut calories, but I feel with working out 4-5 times a week vigoriously, I’m always hungry.. is that normal? Working out that hard, should I continue to cut calories..even though I’m starving at times?
Thanks! sorry for all the questions…lol

    • Fitnessista on March 8, 2011 at 11:25 pm

      hey girl,
i usually post the recipes, unless it’s something i eat all the time. the green juice was all of the above veggies tossed in the juicer.
when you work out harder and more often, you definitely need to eat more to support your activity level.
