Welcome to the bloggy family

Hey guys! Hope you’re having a wonderful almost-Friday 😀

Today was a dreary day in Valdizzy:

006

But has actually turned into a fantastic day so far! Whew! Such a relief after the hellacious 72 hours I’ve been through wrangling fighting puppies.

I had the best kind of sludge.. because it was PINK!

001

It was a almond butter and jelly sludge!

1 cup hemp milk, 1 nanner, frozen raspberries, almond butter, brown rice protein and Vega-licious

While it was totally scrumptious, it just didn’t hold me over. 20 minutes after eating it, I was still hungry so I grabbed an Ezekiel with a little organic butter and cinnamon.

002

Muuuuuch better. It was a pretty hefty bfast for me, but what can I say, I was hungry so I ate 😀

After that, I decided to run some errands and saw this funny creepy crawler while I was getting in the car:

003

What are you, little thing??? It was rainy, so I’m thinking it was some sort of snail/slug creature but I have no idea.

I hit up Targizzle to get a sound machine because I haven’t been able to sleep to save my life lately. The pilot sleeps in our room with Viesa and I sleep in a guest room with Bella. I like having a TV in there –no TVs in our bedroom- but in our room we have an alarm clock that plays sounds throughout the night (like rainforest, waterfall, ocean, rain, etc). I bought it when the pilot was deployed last time, and now I’m pretty sure I can’t sleep without it.

So today, I bought a smaller and less expensive one to have in the guest room with me and to take to school.

009

Hopefully it’ll do the trick! I can’t sleep in total silence.

I stopped to get this:

010

My camera came in, so I picked it up at Best Bizzle. A Sony Cybershot 12.1 Megapixel Camera and a heinous camera case since the cute ones wouldn’t fit it.

I really, really, REALLY had my heart set on the pink camera, but this one isn’t offered in pink and it’s a much better camera than the pink one :/ The pilot said it was my choice, but I picked the silver one. I felt like such a grown-up picking an electronic based on what it does rather than the color choices 😉

The silver’s pretty classy though:

011

Welcome to the bloggy family, little camera. I see crystal clear pics in the near future 😀

After I got the camera, my friend Ash called (who’s an esthetician and I love to go see her for massages and facials) and told me the spa was dead and asked if I wanted to come in and get a facial. Ummm, is the pope Catholic? OF COURSE I wanted a facial 😀 So I got an hour long beautiful facial and lifting/firming mask and chat sesh with Ashley. It was pretty much the best thing ever and much needed after this week’s insanity. Like I said, today has been pretty bueno.

I’m off to make some lonchi and then clean the casa before hitting up the gym.

Hope you all have a great day!

xoxo,

G

    That sludge looks AWESOME!

I went through a phase of not being able to sleep awhile back and got a few cds of waves and rainforest ‘calming’ sounds. Worked wonders. Hope yours helps!

    Have a lovely afternoon!

hooray for the new camera! Mine is black, and that was the only option I had!

I’m glad today is turning out well – how nice to have that facial!

The slug thing looks scary. There are so many strange bugs in the south! I saw a bug half the size of my hand dead outside the gym on Tuesday…no idea what it was??? A facial? Oh gosh- I’m so jealous 🙂 Enjoy the gym

cute cute cute camera!!!!!! love it! Even though i’m a canon girl i’m eager to see how your new camera does! 🙂

you are super lucky to have a friend to give you facial!!! so cool! I also love that you are eating Ezekiel with a little organic butter and cinnamon! I’m not sure why but it sound comforting and its good to know you don’t live off sludge and salad beasts 😉

  6. Dori on August 27, 2009 at 2:12 pm

The slug thing looks kinda cool, even though I am grossed out by things like that! SO jealous of your facial, it sounds amazing! I never had one, I am so worried about it causing my chin pimples to erupt in anger.

  7. Lizzy on August 27, 2009 at 2:20 pm

awww thats the same digi i have! totally love! so exciting! 🙂

  8. Mari on August 27, 2009 at 2:22 pm

Nice Camera! I am sure you will put it to good use =)

  9. tay on August 27, 2009 at 2:23 pm

I am going to have to invest in one of those sound machines Gina! I used to sleep with a fan blasting for the noise and it annoys the hubs. Maybe he will settle for a sound machine – and it may even help us relax.

Can’t wait to see foodie pictures with the new family member. 🙂

  10. trish (girlatgym) on August 27, 2009 at 2:31 pm

I hate sleeping is silence! I bought a white noise machine and now I am addicted. 🙂 Of course, I grew up in Boston so it was never totally silent when I slept. But now I live out in the burbs and when I am sleepy I need me some noise!!

HOORAY for new cameras! I felt like a kid in a candy store when I decided to go buy my new one last year!!

  12. Haleigh on August 27, 2009 at 2:35 pm

Sounds like a pretty good day indeed! I hope the rest of the day goes as well as the morning 🙂

Yay, so glad that you’re having a good day! You totally deserve it. 🙂 Free facials? New camera? Sound machine? Glorious. 🙂

  14. Laura W on August 27, 2009 at 2:40 pm

Is there anything better than a last minute trip to the spa? I think not! Do you ever break out after getting a facial? I always do… it’s like my pores hate facials or something!

    • Fitnessista on August 27, 2009 at 2:51 pm

      i don’t think there’s anything better 😀
surprisingly no, even though i have very sensitive skin. she uses a gentle honey almond scrub on me and it doesn’t make me break out at all

  15. rhodeygirl on August 27, 2009 at 3:29 pm

oooh enjoy the facial! i have the same camera and a similar ugly case. it has teal in it too though. i can tell you from experience that you are better off with the proper type of case for the camera….. not that i ever broke a camera by using a cute but inappropriate case before… ahem.

  16. Jaclyn on August 27, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Wow, I’m suuuuuuper jealous of your facial and mask! That lil guy is a banana slug; or at least that’s what they’re called here! I just wanted to say I love that you post your playlists, I’m going to go through some of your old ones and download some of those songs! Do you have a way of fast & easy downloading?

    Thanks!
    Jaclyn

    • Fitnessista on August 27, 2009 at 4:22 pm

      oooh a banana slug… how appropriate 😀
i just use itunes for all of my music

  17. Bec on August 27, 2009 at 4:12 pm

hope your new camera treats you well!

  18. Angharad on August 27, 2009 at 4:30 pm

wow, I want a friend that works at a spa! Sounds like just what you’ve needed – take care of yourself in these stressful times!

  19. Shelby on August 27, 2009 at 4:35 pm

I have the pink one! I LOVE IT!

  20. Jenna on August 27, 2009 at 4:36 pm

    yaa for the new camera!
glad your day has been going well 🙂

  21. Em on August 27, 2009 at 4:37 pm

I am jealous of your pretty pink smoothie. If it’s pink– I want it!
You are one lucky girl to have a friend who’s an esthetician!! Glad you got to enjoy a well deserved bit of pampering 🙂 My skin hates being touched or smothered in anything– I have only had one facial and I broke out so bad it took me about a year to get my skin back to normal!! Must be my luck I guess!

  22. vegantickles on August 27, 2009 at 4:38 pm

I’m so jealous. I could never get myself or my husband to let me buy a new camera for my blog. You should see the lasted pics. Totally blurry. But, congrats on your new camera!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Pamela on August 27, 2009 at 4:43 pm

That’s so funny about the white noise machine – we live in a pretty happening area so I had to pick one up shortly after we moved. We’re in a loft too so the echoes don’t help… we fall asleep to crashing waves every night.

I got mine at Targizzle too – in the nursery section b/c they were cheaper so it’s Gerber or something!

  24. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on August 27, 2009 at 4:53 pm

That’s my exact camera! I wished it came in pink too, but sigh…just boring silver. I hope you like it!

Congrats on your spa day and your happy-times kinda day in general. You sooo deserve it, especially after your week.

I want to thank you soooo much for your breakfast cookie recommendation & recipe. OMG I made it and blogged about it and seriously, it’s gonna change my life. Not kidding! It’s like the best thing ever. And it’s actually fairly healthy. Easy. Kid-approved, too! Thanks Gina!!! Here was my post

  25. Annamarina (Running Tails) on August 27, 2009 at 5:13 pm

I like the new camera! I’m in the market for a new one and will be interested to see how you like it.

  26. Paige on August 27, 2009 at 5:27 pm

Your sludge sounds great!! And I have no idea what that bugger is!

Is the pop catholic?!? You are too funny 🙂 but I’m total jeals about your facial.

  27. Teri on August 27, 2009 at 5:28 pm

My husband got me hooked on the sound machine and I can’t sleep without now either! They are the best. A fan works in a pinch, but isn’t quite as relaxing as the ocean. Happy sleeping and good luck with the puppas. That is heartbreaking!

  28. Lindsay on August 27, 2009 at 5:59 pm

I have that exact sound sleeper and I LOVE it!! My fave is the rain sound. 🙂

  29. angieinatlanta on August 27, 2009 at 6:50 pm

Sounds like you have an awesome day – new camera and a facial? Sounds like a perfect day to me!

  30. Lizzy on August 27, 2009 at 6:59 pm

okay i think i need a friend that happens to also be a massage therapist/facial-ist(is that even a word?) sounds AMAZING.

way to go with the new camera!! it’s not pink, but maybe they will come out with a new pink case in the near future!

  31. Kelli on August 27, 2009 at 7:31 pm

I have a question for you, you were asking for fitness questions the other day. I need ab exercises. I know that there are a million and one ab exercises out there, but I have had kids and I work out, but I get so discouraged with the ab exercises on my videos because I can’t do them! I don’t think that I own an ab muscle. Can you give me ideas? I’d really appreciate it.

I used to have the Sony Cyber Shot but it broke while I was on vacation. I’m sure you will LOVE it!

  33. Annabananabomb on August 27, 2009 at 8:32 pm

Following up with a second comment – no more lurking!

Cute camera, I can’t wait to see all the fantastic photos you’re going to take. Your blog is like food porn for me 🙂

Thanks for your advice about soy milk and soy products. I guess I’m taking the slow road transitioning to cleaner wholer foods. Off to the wholefoods store on Sunday to give the credit card a work out and do some exploring! On the list is: quinoa, stevia, hemp milk, popping corn and nutritional yeast!!

  34. Kathleen on August 27, 2009 at 8:42 pm

So…I discovered your blog a few weeks ago while on vacation before college started and I started at the beginning and read through every single post you have made…and they have been fantastic. Thank you so much for writing such a fun, witty, inspirational and informational blog. This was exactly what I needed in a food blog (and even though I read a few of them) and this has become a favorite! Please don’t stop!

    • Fitnessista on August 27, 2009 at 9:27 pm

      hey kathleen!
WHOA that’s awesome! thank you so much 😀

  36. Missy on August 27, 2009 at 10:03 pm

Hi!! I love your blog and follow it faithfully and don’t comment often.
Im sorry about your puppers, I have the same camera and love it.
I thought of you when I saw a recipe today and it was seriouslly delish!
I would say double the amount you’d make though bc it was really good and light.
Raw asparagus and zucchini make an ideal simple salad for the summer. The asparagus is thinly sliced and the zucchini is shaved into long strips using a vegetable peeler, which makes for a beautiful presentation. After trying a few bites of the salad, which is tossed with a dressing of extra-virgin olive oil, lemon juice and black pepper and topped with fresh shavings of Pecorino Romano cheese, you’ll never use bagged salad again.
    VERY yummo!!

    • Fitnessista on August 27, 2009 at 10:45 pm

that sounds amazing! thank you for sharing it with me 😀

The W200 is a great camera. I recently upgraded to a huge fancy smancy Nikon. The sony is a perfect purse camera though.
