What’s inside the [quart-sized] bag?

Heyyyy Smile How are you? Hope you’re having a lovely afternoon.

It feels SO GOOD to be back on my (semi?)regular blogging schedule. As I’m sure you can imagine, the weekend was a little crazy with limited WiFi, rides with other people, and days packed full of to-dos. That’s why I blogged a little less than normal- if I don’t have time to write a decent post, I’d rather not post at all and wait. I don’t like to clog up your Google readers Winking smile

*Note: All photos were taken via iPhone… I forgot to turn my camera off last night :/

So after our legendary feast at Lindsey’s, Katie and I slumbered away peacefully and then went to Panera this morning to hop on the free WiFi and get our blog on.

For b-fast, I enjoyed a serving of gluten-free oats with Sun Warrior (both packed from home – I ended up eating all of my travel snacks this weekend), a crumbled blueberry Larabar and a drizzle of Justin’s chocolate hazelnut butter (donated by Katie).

oats

It was so delicious and SO filling. Oats do the trick, fo sho Winking smile

Since we had some time before we had to be at the airport, we shananiganed around for a while.

First to Whole Paycheck to get snacks and lunch for our flights

and then to World Market to look around.

world market

I could spend hours in that store. I’m so glad we have one in Tucson Smile A silly sentimental thing is that I’m SO excited to buy a new living room table. Before our last huge dinner party, we almost bought a beautiful table and chairs at Pier 1. We were thisclose to making the purchase (I was sitting at the table pretending it was mine already while the Pilot paced around me) but in the end, decided not to do it because we would be moving soon. We knew it would sit in the POD for quite a few months, we wouldn’t get to use it and we had no idea where we would end up. We decided wait.

Now, we can buy a new table Smile

tables

It’s such an exciting thing for me. A table.

And now that I know where we’re going, I can start picking up house stuff!!! I’m a little scary excited Winking smile

After shopping, we came to the airport and now I’m waiting for my flight home.

Since I’m nosy and LOVE when bloggers post inside looks at their lives (their purses, their closets, etc), I thought it would be fun to post my quart-sized liquid baggie.

One side:

bag

(Almay foundation w SPF that matches your shade –I have no idea how they do it, Fredderick Fekkai hair gloss, contacts, face wash, shampoo, contact case, almond butter)

baggie

Shampoo, conditioner, Clif shot gel, toothpaste, lotion

Using mini bottles helps me get a LOT more in there Winking smile

For lunch today, I grabbed hot bar, which I just munched at the gate:

tofu

Kale, greens, hummus, bell pepper, mushrooms, hearts of palm, balsamic and peanut tofu. They didn’t have chicken today and this girl needed some protein, so I rolled with tofu, which I haven’t had in months. It was especially uhmazing.

Snack attack (for later):

snacks

Vega, apple, almond butter

Well I’m gonna hop on the plane and head home! Sorry to the person next to me on the flight- I’ll be practicing the new DT choreography in my seat Winking smile

dt badge

I can’t wait to cuddle Bella.

See ya in the desert <3

xoxo

I know the feeling of being so excited over furniture. I was that girl about 1 1/2 years ago when I went around getting supplies 😉 and stuff to make the house we got a home. Make sure to only buy stuff you reallllllly love (even if you have to spend a little extra) because I did & I’m so happy I did… even now, I come home everyday and love how I put it all together 🙂

Gina I remember when you mentioned you wanted to get a new table — a big square countertop one, right? I remember only because I want one of those too! How exciting to get all the things to fill up your new house.

Have you started looking at a house to buy?

    • Fitnessista on February 28, 2011 at 5:06 pm

I forgot the baggie last time I went through security and had my stuff in a regular makeup bag… what a fiasco! Amazing you were able to fit all that in there.

AB is an essential, of course 🙂

trust me… after 2 years in Korea with absolutely no dining room table (they do the sitting on the floor thang) the FIRST thing we got for our new apt was a dining room table… on craigslist no less!!! It’s AMAZING 🙂 happy furniture shopping!!!

  14. Emily N on February 28, 2011 at 4:50 pm

My fiance and I might be moving in a couple months….we’re uncertain about the logistics and the destination. But we are excited to buy a dining room table wherever we go.
We both have a vision of a rustic, unrefined, wood-y looking one like this:

How funny – I was in World Market over the weekend too, admiring the furniture. I love the big chunky tables with the chairs and a bench. Some days I wish I had a “do over” and could start fresh with all new furniture. Doesn’t cost anything to dream! Take care – happy house shopping. Mo

I totally get being excited to buy a table! You’re so funny… of course it’s exciting!! Right now we live in a townhouse and only have room for a 4 person table. I can’t wait til I can pick out my first, real ‘big girl’ table 😀

YAY for cuddles with Bella … I’m always so ecxited to see my fur-shild after a trip.

  17. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on February 28, 2011 at 5:01 pm

Buying furniture is so fun!! For my first few apartments and our first house I had mostly hand me down furniture from my parents. I rememeber when I bought our first kitchen table from Ikea. I was so proud!

    • Fitnessista on February 28, 2011 at 5:03 pm

  27. Julie (A Case of the Runs) on February 28, 2011 at 6:20 pm

Does that shade makeup REALLY work? I have wondered that for ages!

A quart-sized baggie is NOT enough for all the crud I pack, but then again, I don’t fly often and probably could benefit from practice. =)

Our next move is almost certainly to the far end of the country. We keep talking about how we want a house with a bigger dining room so we can buy a biiiiiiig table that will fit our entire extended family during holidays. On our very first posting, we ordered a small table through Ikea (we were pretty much broke!), and then had to wait 8 weeks for it to come in for some reason that no one was ever able to adequately explain to us. We spent the first two months living together sharing a TV tray and sitting on lawn chairs.

  31. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on February 28, 2011 at 7:58 pm

I get excited about furniture shopping too, but even more excited when I’m looking at bowls and plates and other kitchen goodies in Crate & Barrel, and EVEN MORE excited when I’m browsing around Whole Foods!! Have a safe flight Gina! 🙂

  38. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on February 28, 2011 at 9:35 pm

Oh that is so awesome about buying a table! I remember when we were leaving San Diego to move to Phoenix (for 9 short months) and I wanted a table so badly but held off b/c I knew it would just be getting schlepped around, beat up, and transported more than it needed to be. So when i finally got mt table and chairs, I felt SO GOOD! It’s things like that that just make a house a home 🙂

And I love your travel bags and the contents. Mine would include baby wipes, chapstick, toothbrush and floss and paste, comb, hair ties, and snacks 🙂 Oh and bodyspray b/c i am addicted!

  39. Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn on February 28, 2011 at 9:35 pm

I have been thisclose to buying that foundation so many times, but I always thought the marketing sounded too good to be true! pffft, I would say, match my shade? naw. So do you like it? Obvs I take it that you *do* like it, otherwise you wouldn’t use it, but a more thorough review would be mucho mucho appreciated!

Also, I got such a kick out of seeing tolietries…..then the AB packet. Love. My quart-sized bags look the same. shampoop, conditioner (is better….quick, what movie, what movie), etc, and then, what, a single serve packet of hummus? how did that get in there?! FYI, world market has single serving packets of hummus that are great for travel (or at least they had them around the holidays; I need to replenish my stash and i’m hoping it wasn’t a stocking-stuffer only thing) If only restaurants carried paper packets of nooch like they do salt and pepper!

    • Fitnessista on March 1, 2011 at 12:30 am

“stop looking at me, swan!” hahah
i was apprehensive about the foundation too but it totally works- i’ll do a review 🙂
the hummus packs are at world market if you have one close by!
