When everything stops…

I do, too.

[Fall decorations have magically started appearing over here….]

Hi friends 🙂 How’s your long weekend going? Hope it’s been amazing so far <3

I took yesterday as a chill day. After the hustle and bustle of the last 3 weeks (with moving, unpacking, getting ready for the housewarming party, out-of-town company), it all finally caught up with me. It used to happen in school with final exam season. I would go-go-go and be a study machine and the second finals were over and we had our 2 week break from dance, I was doneski.

So yesterday, I took the day off from the gym and took two naps. My to-do list got put on hold, and the only things I accomplished were flooding my brain with episodes of Project Runway, ordering our baby stroller and this watering can for my soon-to-be herb garden.

image Amazon owns me.

[Giuliana Rancic has that watering can and I think it’s so cute!! The water shoots out of the piggy’s nose]

I didn’t end up going to the baby shower (but did go to the bachelorette party for a little while), and feel a thousand times better today.

Some eats:

Bfast was a chocolate cherry smoothie

smoothie

and lunch is all packed up and ready to wake to work.

lunch

Organic strawberries, seaweed snacks, and a caprese-kinda sandwich (goat gouda, tomato, basil) on TJs new gluten-free bread.

sandwich

While I like the ingredients of the bread (it’s multi-grain), the texture isn’t my fave. It’s not very soft or dense. Kind of like stale Udi’s? Food for Life still takes the win 🙂

I’m off to work (2 new Zumba dances today!), and then coming home to grill with the Pilot. A little bird told me he may be writing today’s Family post 😉

See ya later this afternoon <3

xoxo

Gina

Today’s workout jam: “Un Mes” Mara- this was on a few ZIN CDs ago, and I love it. Fun, light reggaeton/cumbia.

good for you for knowing when to take a break! it can be hard when you’re a go go go type of girl (thats how I am!!!), but its so worth it in the end!!

  2. Nicole on September 3, 2011 at 11:09 am

I know you said the bread was Eh, but the sandwich as a whole looks SO good! I feel you on the burnout and needing to just take a rest day and I’m glad that you know yourself well enough to know when it is time. My rest day is coming soon, I feel the burnout creepin’ on 🙂 I unexpectedly am now covering the job of two people at work and in my non-work time I’m studying for the GMAT and my CPT. Very soon I’m going to need to just sit on the couch and veg out!

  8. Chelsa on September 3, 2011 at 11:29 am

I adore the watering can and the sandwich looks amazing. I make similar ones in my panini press. One of my faves is granny smith apple and goat chevre.

    Love the watering can!

Quick question about Zumba…do you make up your own routines and pick your own music? With Jazzercise, we are given sets of routines and music and I was just curious about how other programs are set up! 😀

A little rest can make me a new person 🙂 Making a person (i.e., being pregnant) is exhausting work — glad to see you could have some down time. Have a great (long!) weekend!

  12. alici on September 3, 2011 at 11:42 am

I’m ready to start decorating too! My husband says I can’t until Oct. 1st, but I’m pretty sure some things will be making their way out soon! Fall and Halloween are my favorite!! I love the cool, crisp air. Layering, sweaters, scarves, hats, oh my! And I’m ready for horror movie mania! Love days off!!! Sounds like a blast.

  13. Jen @familyfoodfitnessandfun on September 3, 2011 at 11:50 am

That’s great you know when your body needs a rest…I’m really bad at that! Have a great weekend 🙂 Love the watering can BTY!

  16. Laura (On the Threshold of Greatness) on September 3, 2011 at 12:02 pm

I NEED that piggy watering can! Maybe my plants would live if I had something cute to remind me to water them… 😉

Glad you took a Gina day! Me Days are so necessary from time to time.

So excited for the pilot’s family post!

      that’s what i’m hoping too 🙂

  20. Hillary on September 3, 2011 at 12:44 pm

I did the same thing after school yesterday. My body (and mind!) had just HAD it. I took a quick walk around the block, just to get some fresh air, and then I plopped on the couch and watched Mad Men. It felt fabulous ; )

  21. lindsay on September 3, 2011 at 12:56 pm

ahh, another reason we need a TJ’s in austin. Hope you get more rest this weekend friend.

  24. Suzi @ Confessions of a Fitness Instructor on September 3, 2011 at 2:08 pm

I love Un Mes, I’ve been using a combo of the choreo on the DVD, it’s one of my fav tunes right now.

Last night I went to bed early and slept straight through until 2pm! I slept poorly two nights, and didn’t sleep at all one night (a lot of work to be done to get ready for my fall fitness classes) so last night I pretty much just died in bed. I feel ten times better today though!

  25. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on September 3, 2011 at 3:41 pm

Glad that you were able to just chill, veg, and get some downtime yesterday. That’s so important for everyone, but especially you! Pregnant, running around and doing so much the past few weeks; glad you could just decompress and chill out! 🙂

Thanks for the review on the TJs new gluten-free bread. I have never bought it and may take a pass based on your review but the pictures are sure pretty and you coulda fooled me til you said it’s a little stale-ish tasting.

  26. Mari on September 3, 2011 at 3:51 pm

We have that watering can! Glad to know we’re fashionable 🙂 Honestly my husband bought it so I guess he’s the hip one, haha.

  27. Jackie @ That Deep Breath on September 3, 2011 at 4:01 pm

  29. Jessica on September 3, 2011 at 4:21 pm

  30. Jen on September 3, 2011 at 4:35 pm

I just talked about the Food for Life bread in my post today. It’s the best bread ever. The brown rice one! So soft and chewy!

  31. Sam on September 3, 2011 at 5:32 pm

question, i cant seem to find seaweed snacks that do not have wasabi. i have looked at whole paycheck and HEB. Any advise?

  32. Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) on September 3, 2011 at 5:37 pm

Fall is the best! I wish I had room in our tiny apartment to put seasonal decorations out! I don’t even know where our Christmas tree is going to go!

You seem so busy all the time so I’m glad to hear that you get rest days once in a while. 🙂

    PS. That sandwich looks delicious!

  33. Kristi @ Sweet Cheeks on September 3, 2011 at 6:41 pm

oh my gosh that pig is too cute. I can totally see you holding it. 😉

Glad you were able to take a break and relax a bit. You deserve it!

  34. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on September 3, 2011 at 6:58 pm

I feel the same way after finals! All I want to do is veg out on the couch in front of a Gossip Girl marathon and eat myself into a cookie induced sugar coma. 😛

  35. Sarah on September 3, 2011 at 7:07 pm

Cute watering can! I’m trying to hold off until October 1st to start putting up decorations…but I did pick up a new one at Ross last week for $7!

  36. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on September 3, 2011 at 7:44 pm

I am glad you got a rest Lady, I was wondering if you were going to end up loosing a limb to fatigue or what!

  37. fittingbackin on September 3, 2011 at 8:49 pm

quitting wrinkles the soul – love that!

the watering can is too much hehe

  38. Deva (Voracious Vorilee) on September 3, 2011 at 10:21 pm

The watering can made me lol. I totally understand needing a rest – I always try to stop and take a break when my body is screaming at me to rest – whether that means skipping a few workouts (like I did this week), or just sleeping until noon on Saturday, it’s nice to take a break!

  39. Cara on September 4, 2011 at 11:37 am
