Where are you, Garmin?

Sing it to the tune of “Where are you, Christmas?” The Faith Hill version 😉

Heyyyyyy 😀 How are you?? I’m so stoked that ya’ll liked the Mandy Ingber review and Reader’s Request yesterday 😀 If you have any more reader’s request ideas for a post, please to send them my way!

Yesterday was a slight doozy, but the only hiccup was that my Garmin still hasn’t arrived. If you keep up with my shenanigans on Twitter, then you know that I accidentally had the Garmin shipped to my dadoo’s house in Tucson. So combine that with dinosaur free shipping, and they received said Garmin two Saturdays ago. My dad went to the post office last Tuesday and shipped it Priority to me (which usually takes 3 days) and I still haven’t received it. I’m crossing my fingers it comes today- I want to give it a whirl!

Anywho. today is off to a good start….

bfastcookie

AB & J Bfast cookie!

-1/2 cup oats

-almond milk

-smashed banana

-1/2 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior

-cinnamon

-1 T almond butter

-1 T strawberry Polaner spread all over the top (for a glossy sheen)

It was gloooooooorious!

Some of the eats from yesterday:

Salad beast:

beastly

Millet bread, almond butter and bananer:

bbab

The last cookie, from the twins (quite possible the best cookie I’ve ever had)

cookie

And a Tucson-inspired dinner: Tamales and egg!

Ahhhhh, so good. Something about a warm, Tucson green-corn tamale just warms my soul 😀

I took pilates and taught Zumba last night. Pilates kicked my booty (and my abs! Owwwww!) and Zumba was awesome. It was my last class before the new year –things are going to be too crazy with our travel schedule- and we packed the house. I’m pretty stoked for Zumba party 2010!

Well I’m off to start packing for Gatlinburg, and then meeting Jeni for a workout, smoothie and last-minute shopping!

See ya tonight <3

Koga sounds awesome. I’ve done spoga (spinning/yoga) before and loved it. I might have to keep my eyes open for koga!

  5. Carrie on December 22, 2009 at 10:19 am

Reader Request- How can I train for a 5K? I do not run at all right now. I just do intervals and weights. Can I really do this? It has always been a goal of mine. Thanks!

So not healthy, but since you’re from Tucson I have to mention it. Eegee’s!!

My mom went to high school in Tucson and loves Eegee’s. Everytime we go visit family, we make a trip(ok…several) to an Eegee’s. My fave is the lemon.

    • Fitnessista on December 22, 2009 at 11:13 am

      eegee’s!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!
i’m drooling right now. everywhere. and dying for a strawberry-lemon. so. insanely.good.
which hs did your mom go to?!

  12. Carolyn on December 22, 2009 at 10:56 am

Wow!! If it takes much longer if I were your dad I’d ask for a refund for the shipping difference @ the post office.

    • Fitnessista on December 22, 2009 at 11:14 am

that’s a great idea. i’m just worried it’s lost in the mail somewhere or stolen 🙁

  13. fittingbackin on December 22, 2009 at 11:03 am

I have a reader request: I am trying to find a new workout schedule. My workouts were M:upper body/abs T:cardio W: lower body/abs Th: cardio F: total body Sat: yoga Sun: off

I notice most trainers do full body workouts every time. What kind of schedule would you recommend?

    • Fitnessista on December 22, 2009 at 11:17 am

you can do it one of 3 ways:
      circuit (entire body 3x week)
push/pull (day 1: shoulders, chest, triceps, day 2: legs and abs, day 3: back and biceps)
antagonist (day 1: shoulders, chest, day 2: quads and hams, day 3: biceps and triceps and day 4: back and abs)
i’d recommend playing with it and finding a schedule that works best for you!
you might just need to shake things up a little 😀

  16. Danielle (Coffee Run) on December 22, 2009 at 11:28 am

Bfast cookies are still on my “to-make” list. Question- what’s the difference between pilates and yoga?

  17. Kathleen on December 22, 2009 at 11:34 am

That salad is making my mouth water..yuummmm. And tamales! When i was little we had spanish friends who always made fresh tamales. Best thing I have ever tasted, there is nothing like an authentic one!

  18. Brigid on December 22, 2009 at 11:36 am

A green corn tamale sounds fantastic! I’m from Oklahoma but have a deep love of Southwestern food. How do you make your breakfast cookies? Do you combine everything and then bake them?

  19. Julie on December 22, 2009 at 11:56 am

The tamales look fabulous….do you have a recipe for them? Are they Gluten Free/Dairy Free by any chance???? My mouth is watering just looking at them!!!

    Thanks!!!

    • Fitnessista on December 22, 2009 at 12:06 pm

yes they’re gluten free and dairy free!
a family friend makes them and then my mom and nana freeze them and overnight the tamales to me 😀

    Hi Gina,

I’ve been a long time reader and have enjoyed following your adventures in life and food. Your B-fast cookie is a regular in my life as are my attempts at creating your macaroons. But I actually have a question about the Air Force. I’m thinking about joining as a Nurse Practitioner, but was wondering what your thoughts are on the lifestyle. I’m single and in my early twenties, do you know of very many other single women who joined? Are they allowed to date the men on base? (I feel shallow asking that, but, yummy pilots!) I would love to join for a variety of reasons, like the traveling, and you have a very good preceptorship program, but I’m wondering if I am cut out for the lifestyle. Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated!

  29. Jessica on December 22, 2009 at 2:46 pm

Everything looks fab Gina!! Hmmm, maybe I should jump on the oatmeal cookie bandwagon and finally try one tomorrow?! I totally trust that it’s delicious and amazing–i’m just so content with my hot bowl of oats….i’ll get over it though 🙂

And yum….your almond butter-y/banana slices always make me hungry! Have a great day love!!

  30. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on December 22, 2009 at 2:49 pm

Yeah, the mail is uber-wonk right now. Bummer about your Garmin. 🙁

PS I was just catching up and read that you saw Avatar–was that not out of control!? Sooo cool. Like Ferngully meets An Inconvenient Truth on steroids.

  31. Jenny on December 22, 2009 at 3:06 pm

Hope you get that Garmin in soon! Snail mail can be such a bummer 🙁

  32. Stephanie on December 22, 2009 at 4:37 pm

I need to jump on the band wagon and try on of these breakfast cookies! They look so yummy!

I hope you find your garmin!!! 🙁

  33. Leah on December 22, 2009 at 6:24 pm

Ever since you mentioned the millet bread I have wanted to try it SO badly but I can not find it anywhere. I’ve searched. It doesnt exist here. So sad!

ohhh…i’m sorry about your garmin! sometimes if the post office has it, the box is too big and you’re not home, they won’t deliver. i’ve had that happen several times. maybe go to the local post your mail goes through!

  37. Whole Body Love on December 23, 2009 at 12:39 am

My daughter was conceived in Gatlinburg 😉 seriously. What did I think would happen with two hot tubs and gorgeous scenery. Beware of the Carnival Craziness though. I didn’t realize that it’s a big ole Carnival until we arrived. We were expecting a more natural outdoor experience

    • Fitnessista on December 23, 2009 at 7:35 am

      LOL! i love it 😀
thank you for the carnival warning 🙂
