Wizard Couture

Oh hey 🙂 How’s your Friday treating ya?

Thanks for the well wishes for my little bro. His ACL was completely torn and he now has a cadaver ACL. He keeps joking that he has a zombie ACL and he hopes it belonged to a basketball player. Nice, huh? I’m glad the surgery went well and he’s in good spirits <3

So I have to post a pic of the Pilot’s b-fast at the Good Egg, because it ended up being pretty legendary:

good egg

French toast with strawberries, chorizo, peach yogurt and bacon. He ate ALL of it. Never ceases to amaze me 😉

Lunch was noteworthy today:

tuna salad

Tuna salad boats 🙂

I made some tuna salad with TJs albacore toonie and most of a container of goat’s milk yogurt:

yogurt

with a red bell pepper, some onion, chives, carrot, celery (! I’ve been brave lately)

tuna

garlic, Dijon mustard, sea salt, pepper, a dollop of spicy hummus, nutritional yeast and paprika.

tuna (2)

It was SO good and refreshing with romaine lettuce leaves and I also munched some Terra chips (the new Mexican flavor!) when I got to the madre’s.

Hit. The. Spot.

Post-Bodyrock shake:

Today I did the “All I Want for Christmas is Abs” workout, which was beastly as ever. Only 12 minutes and I was sweating like a monkey.

I walked around the track afterwards until my legs stopped shaking 😉

For today’s Fashion Friday and in honor of April Fools, I *was* going to do ways to dress up your Snuggie/Slanket/whatever they’re called. (Like by adding a cute belt, wedge shoes, first-date Snuggie and dinner party Snuggie, etc)

Then two things dawned on me:

1. It wasn’t that funny and I don’t want to offend anyone who owns and loves their Snuggie.

2. I kind of want one… plus a matching one for Bella.

snuggieSource

Awesome, right?

So tell me this:

Do you have a Snuggie? Are they as convenient and comfy as they look?

I’m 100% sure the Pilot would make fun of me for wearing a wizard robe about the house, but they look pretty amazeballs.

I’m off to teach my last night at the old studio- we’re moving to a bigger one 🙂

xoxo

Gina

Glad to hear it went well for your bro. Congrats on the bigger studio.:)

Not gonna lie, I kind of want a snuggie too because I’m always cold in my house in the winters! 😛

  3. Susanne on April 2, 2011 at 8:52 am

I have a pink snuggie that I have a love/hate relationship with. It’s warm and cozy, but it gives off a lot and I means a lot of static electricity.

  4. Chelsa on April 2, 2011 at 9:40 am

Bella looks adorable in that snuggie. Pink is her color.

    • Fitnessista on April 2, 2011 at 11:33 am

it’s not bella, but a dog pic i found online that looks EXACTLY like her- crazy, huh?!

  5. Jennifer on April 2, 2011 at 9:40 am

    Gina,

I have been reading your blog for a while now and love it. I was in the military so I can relate to alot of what you guys go through and I love your fitness/nutrition information and tips. With that being said, it’s a little sad that the first comment I leave is about a Snuggie!!:) My best friend bought my sister one as a gag gift for her birthday last year. She thought it was crazy and stuffed it in a closet without much thought. We had an unseasonably cold winter this past year and she broke out the Snuggie on a really cold night. SHE LOVED IT. Completely caught her off guard and made us both give our friend a lot of credit for a funny gift that turned out pratical.

    • Fitnessista on April 2, 2011 at 11:33 am

thanks so much for saying hi- love to hear from other military friends 🙂

  6. Stephanie on April 2, 2011 at 10:14 am

I really do want a snuggie. I always make fun of them – while secretly hoping that someone will get me one as a gag gift. Ha! I’d need a beige one, though, since fleece is a dog hair magnet.

so this is not exactly a “healthy” recipe, but i thought maybe if you found it interesting, you could do a fitnessista version 🙂
    (goat cheese brownies, haha :D)

      oh YUM!!

  8. Jess on April 2, 2011 at 10:24 am

Haha I have a rainbow brite one and love it 🙂 Total dork.

  9. April on April 2, 2011 at 10:27 am

I love that you showed us what the Pilot ate; exactly what my hubby eats, too funny! I am ALWAYS amazed that he finishes it all too, but a tummy ache usually follows, hee hee.

Ahhh, the Snuggie, i bought one as a gag gift and my girlfriend ended up LOVING it!

  10. Ashley @ Feeding Ashley on April 2, 2011 at 10:35 am

The doggie is so adorable!! Gotta say I’m not a fan of snuggies, but I think you could rock it. If you don’t want to shed out the $ for a real one though, just put your robe on backwards. Same thing 🙂
    Glad your brother is okay!

  11. Lynn (The Cream Filling) on April 2, 2011 at 10:36 am

Men and their metabolisms… My brother is three years younger and probably eats twice as much as I do! It’s crazy.

    • Fitnessista on April 2, 2011 at 11:32 am

      right?! it’s insane

  12. susan on April 2, 2011 at 10:41 am

Love the snuggle on Bella, it made me laugh. Just want a need to get through this tough day at work. Thanks!

  13. Mellissa on April 2, 2011 at 10:45 am

I have a cadavers ACL as well, it is pretty darn creepy!

  14. TiffanyS on April 2, 2011 at 10:59 am

I have a snuggie and I love it actually. I read a lot and when it is cold I dont want to turn the pages because I have to take my arms out of the warm blanket. But with the snuggie it is always warm! It may be dorky but it is warm and convenient!

  15. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on April 2, 2011 at 12:13 pm

I don’t own a Sunggie, but if one was to wind up in my possession, I’d most happily accept it! I’m always cold. 🙂

  16. Alicia @ This Organic Body on April 2, 2011 at 12:21 pm

I got my friend a Gators Snuggie for Christmas as a joke and she is obsessed! We have been devising new ways to make it cozier and stay on better. Like making a foot pouch at the bottom for extra warmth, a removable belt for when you are moving, and developing roll up sleeves so you can keep the long sleeves out of the way while doing other things. I am seriously contemplating U of U Snuggies for my house with the aforementioned adjustments. I am pretty sure we can get the most of a snuggie here is Utah.

  17. Christine (The Raw Project) on April 2, 2011 at 12:25 pm

Holy cow on his breakfast! My hubby would ne all over that too.

I don’t have a Snuggie, but I’ve heard friends rave about them.

  18. justine on April 2, 2011 at 12:37 pm

Nigella Lawson, the goddess of foxiness, gave her seal of approval to the slanket last year. It needs no further recommendation.:))

    • Fitnessista on April 2, 2011 at 5:37 pm

the deal is done then 🙂

  19. Sable @ SquatLikeALady on April 2, 2011 at 1:18 pm

I really, really want a snuggie. I am ALWAYS cold and I would totally rock one of those to help lower the heating bill!

  20. Kyla on April 2, 2011 at 1:53 pm

I have a zebra striped snuggie and they are even more comfy than they look! Plus, how can you go wrong with animal print blankets?

  21. Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food on April 2, 2011 at 2:24 pm

That pic is adorable, I definitely thought that was Bella at first! She’s such a cutie 🙂

  22. Gina B on April 2, 2011 at 3:30 pm

Good luck to your brother! I had acl reconstruction & meniscus repair surgery last year, and it’s no picnic 🙂 He looks strong/positive so I’m sure he’ll be ok. Keeping up your spirit when you can’t do basic things like climb stairs/run to your parking spot in the rain are tough, but it’ll be over before he’ll be back strong before he knows it! 🙂

  23. Kristin on April 2, 2011 at 4:38 pm

My Mom has a Snuggie…as does her dog. She never wears hers though, and the dog hates his. When you put it on him, he just stands there and refuses to move until you take it off. lol

  24. Valerie @ FreshMutz on April 2, 2011 at 4:41 pm

When the snuggie first came out a lot of my friends said that it made them think of me. I didn’t know I had a “blanket with sleeves” personality, but they were right nonetheless. I bought the snuggie deluxe made of thicker fleece and with a convenient pocket for the remote control. I love it so much that I even made up not one but two jingles for it.

    • Fitnessista on April 2, 2011 at 5:36 pm

you need to youtube that asap 🙂

  25. Parita @ myinnershakti on April 2, 2011 at 4:49 pm

Bella looks SOOO cute! I can’t get over it! And yes, I have a Snuggie. I won it one Christmas during White Elephant. At first, I was a little disappointed, but to be honest, I love it! It keeps ALL of you warm and cozy. 🙂 I say, go for it!

  26. Flo (Coconut Chronicles) on April 2, 2011 at 5:06 pm

Bahaha mens appetites always amaze me! Mind you, my appetite always amazes me too, haha.

  27. ? Reka on April 2, 2011 at 6:18 pm

I want a Bella too! 🙂 Send her over to Ohio when you need a break from her 🙂

  28. Emily on April 2, 2011 at 8:54 pm

I hated the thought of being one of “those people” who owned a Snuggie until I got a UNC one (I’m in college- go Tar Heels!) and now I can’t get enough of it. It keeps your body AND your arms warm and lets you do whatever you want with your hands? What’s not to love?

  29. kimberley on April 3, 2011 at 3:01 pm

    Gina,
I don’t own a Snuggie, but my little poochie does! Hers is leopard skin, and she loves it! (Sometimes when she’s wearing it, it freaks me out, because I think there’s some kind of jungle cat (a miniature version of course) in the house! Bella needs one!

  30. Jessica @ Healthy Dairyland on April 3, 2011 at 7:02 pm

My sister got a Wisconsin snuggie a couple years ago, but I totally stole it. It’s perfect for lounging. And I just made a tuna salad similar to your’s and omg so good! Adding hummus is such a good idea!

  31. Mo on April 4, 2011 at 9:33 am

I’m late on this one. I have a snuggie – and here’s my take. If you are small in stature – the arms are way to long and the length is too long. That’s what I get for being so short I guess! It’s a little awkward to put on, but once on, if you don’t move – it keeps you toasty. But now that you’re in AZ, you don’t need a snuggie!

  32. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on April 4, 2011 at 11:16 am

OMG I have a photo I have to send you – you will DIE. I’ll just say that great minds think alike. Or at least have a similar sense of humor. 🙂 Stay tuned–it’s on my home computer.

    • Fitnessista on April 4, 2011 at 1:35 pm

      hahah i’m so excited

  33. Dee on April 4, 2011 at 3:36 pm

I love my snuggie- hey, it’s only for home, so one can get away with the unfashionable-ness of it, right?! Although… I DO plan to take it with me for my upcoming long flight to Tokyo. It’s just sooooo comfy!

  34. Cali Gal on April 5, 2011 at 12:20 am

SO great for your bro – and as someone who works with families of people who have passed away and graciously choose to donate organs and tissues, I encourage you to be grateful to the family of your brother’s donor and donors everywhere! http://www.donatelife.net

And yes…I too have been watching tv on a cold day and wished for a blanket that allowed me to also hold the remote without getting my arms cold…then I realized I invented a Snuggie in my brain and felt like I’d hit a new low!
