Yes to Hummus

Hiiiii 😀 Sup bloggies?

We’re back in Valdosta :/ Even though I’d much rather live in civilization, it always feels good to be home 😉

Before we hit the road, we made a lunch stop at Turtle Mountain (I think that’s the name??)- the same organic market and deli we got the beach picnic goods from.

Since I had a tendency to order the same thing once I know I like it (Baigan bhartha? Salmon with double veg? Someone tell me I’m not the only one), I ordered the same Spanish Caravan wrap.

wrap

Roasted carrots, sundried tomato, squash, purple onion, zucchini, kalamata olives and goat cheese in a wheat wrap instead of spinach wrap.

While the girl was making the wrap, she asked if I wanted hummus on there, too.

Um, is the pope Catholic? Of course I want hummus 😀

So my wrap was a teeny bit different than yesterday’s in the sense that it had a lovely blanket of hummus within.

wrap (2)

I also dripped veggie juice on my cute new yoga tee.

tee

Our first stop on the way out was Fresh Market, where I picked up some necessities and some veggie chips to munch on.

Since I have a tendency to eat the entire bag of veggie chips (once you start, it’s hard to stop.. they’re so good!), I only scooped myself a portion that I would be happy with eating.

chips

It worked out pretty well because I was STUFFED when we got to Whole Foods. This is a good shopping tactic because when I’m the slightest bit hungry, I buy so much more! I was able to escape with the necessary goods and still managed to spend almost $200. *Le sigh* Basically, I’ll be eating a pair of designer jeans in the next few weeks.

Technically, it was my turn to drive since the pilot drove us to Jacksonville and had some pilot stuff to do. Since it was POURING, I begged him to drive. I haaaaate driving next to Semi’s in the rain- it stresses me out a little :/

So since he agreed to drive, he asked me to erase some of his maps for him.

Behold the map of anger:

map

See all of the black and red markings on there? I had to erase those. It didn’t seem like it would be too bad, but it was much more tedious than it looked! He had two maps covered with grease pencil marks that had to be erased.

Map-erasing fuel:

coffee

It was my first time trying this and it was SO good! (It also gave me a little caffeine buzz. Bzzzzz) The pilot and I shared the coffee fruit drink 😀 And even though it wasn’t the most fun activity, I erased his maps –took me the entire drive- and was happy to help him out a little 🙂

While we were driving, the pilot and I also had a discussion about a little sumthin’ sumthin’ I’ll be posting about tomorrow AM. I’m really anxious to see what ya’ll say about this one.

We got back to the casa and then went to pick up little Bella. She’s crashed out from all of the playing she did at funny quotes lady’s house.

Snack:

Apple with almond butter, mesquite and cinnamon

apple

The pilot had to run into work and is picking Vieserton up on his way home. I’m off to Wizzle for groceries and going to start dinner- it will be nice to enjoy a home-cooked meal 🙂

Enjoy your evening!

xoxo,

Gina

I always order the same things too. Don’t worry, you’re not alone!

It looks like you guys had a blast away. I’m thinking a trip for me and my man will be in order soon…

  9. Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) on March 21, 2010 at 6:32 pm

LOVE hummus, and veggie chips. And WF is SO hard to not spend $$ at!! Oh, my. I took cash out of the bank yesterday when I went and told myself I could NOT spend more than the $60 I took out. I had to put a bunch of things back before I got to the register! The final total came to $59.80. Phew. I so could have spent another $60, or more!!

That coffee fruit drink sounds great. What did it taste like? Is it “coffee fruit” or coffee AND fruit??

    xo

    • Fitnessista on March 21, 2010 at 6:46 pm

“coffee fruit” – the actual fruit that the coffee beans grow in
it tasted sweet, like cranberry juice

Little freak by usher is also really good!

I always spend so much at wf – the bulk bins and bars get me!

  11. nicole on March 21, 2010 at 6:38 pm

i am with you on getting the same thing over and over. usually if i like the first thing i try at a restaurant, i never stray from it. i guess it’s good to know what you like!

as a side note, i have to say that watching your zumba video has given me the courage to try a class at my local gym when i move in a few weeks. hopefully i’m coordinated enough to keep up. it looks like so much fun!

    • Fitnessista on March 21, 2010 at 6:46 pm

glad i’m not the only one 😀
that’s awesome- you’re going to love it! it really requires minimal coordination and the more you go, the easier it gets 🙂

  12. maggie b on March 21, 2010 at 7:09 pm

wow i just spent $200 at whole foods too, i have never thought about it in terms of a pair of designers! darn! ohh well, i guess being healthy is more important!
    that wrap looks delish.

  13. Heather (Heather's Dish) on March 21, 2010 at 7:17 pm

  15. highonhealthy on March 21, 2010 at 7:48 pm

I’m the same way – if I discover something that I like then I’ll keep ordering it. The problem is, I love trying new stuff too. It’s just hard to tear myself away from something I know is delicious. :/

  16. Michele on March 21, 2010 at 7:51 pm

I was wondering if you are going to get a spring shape up plan going?

  17. Janice down the veggie road on March 21, 2010 at 7:54 pm

I love hummus…… I make up a bunch often it’s sooo yummy ….when you say mesquite on your snacks is that like the same mesquite seasoning my meat eating family puts on their BBQ meats? Interested in that?!?! And love whole foods but wish I could spend on clothes what I spend there…..paycheck robbers…. But I love the soy nuggets and mock ckn salad from there……:0)

  18. Lauren @ eater not a runner on March 21, 2010 at 7:54 pm

That wrap looks so good, I would order it twice too 😉

  19. Pure2Raw Twins on March 21, 2010 at 8:03 pm

We had hummus for the first time in a very long time a few nights ago. We forgot how much we like it 🙂 That map erasing fuel drink looks good!

  20. Brittany on March 21, 2010 at 8:04 pm

Hummus is always a tasty addition to wraps!

I completely agree with those Fresh Market veggie chips being addictive. I’m the same way now with those and trail mix. I only buy a portion I wouldn’t mind consuming at one time because I know that’s what will most likely happen.

  21. Ashlei on March 21, 2010 at 8:08 pm

I usually stick to the same things too! Go for the Green Okra next time you get Indian….amaaaaaazing!! Tuesday I’m going to do a Zumba class! Can’t wait! I love your video from last week so much….I had no idea what Zumba really was before that!

  22. Allison @ Food For Healing on March 21, 2010 at 8:39 pm

Glad you had a good little vacay!
Can’t wait to hear what you have in store tomorrow morning.

  23. Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) on March 21, 2010 at 8:45 pm

Always a good plan to go grocery shopping full! That wrap looks delicious!!! Isn’t everything better with hummus? Enjoy your evening.

    • Fitnessista on March 21, 2010 at 8:56 pm

EVERYTHING is better with hummus 🙂

  24. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg on March 21, 2010 at 8:46 pm

lol…I spend $$$$ on food at places like Whole Foods…but whatever, it’s worth it 🙂

  25. Gina G on March 21, 2010 at 8:53 pm

i always tend to get the same things that i loveee but lately i have been actually switching it up a little (hey i did just a little haha)

cant wait to hear what you have to say tomorrow! =) have a wonderful night Gina!

  26. whitney @ whitinspired on March 21, 2010 at 8:59 pm

I always order the same thing…I very rarely switch it up. I can’t help it…I’m a creature of habit!

  27. Rhodeygirl on March 21, 2010 at 9:21 pm

Hi! Why did you have to erase the maps, out of curiosity?

Are you going to tell us you guys are ready to try for babies????? I can’t wait for the morning post, whatever it is.

Thanks for the car ride readig- we are on our way home from rhodey and this drive is so boring, even with my Philly boy chatting it up! Also, I always make him drive mwahaha

    • Fitnessista on March 21, 2010 at 9:32 pm

he has to erase them because he plans out the scenario for his flights on them. they’re huge laminated maps and it’s easier to draw on them with grease pencil and erase it than to make a new map
      not yet…. 🙂
that’s awesome– i love when the boy drives. then i can sleep 😉

  28. Christy on March 21, 2010 at 9:22 pm

i cant wait for your news. im thinking babies???

    • Fitnessista on March 21, 2010 at 9:30 pm

haha not quite. did you see all the wine i drank this weekend? 🙂

  29. Sara @ Activegal on March 21, 2010 at 9:30 pm

I love your yoga shirt! I look forward to reading about your big news! I really need to try hummus, I have read so many posts about it lately and it looks delicious!

  30. Katherine on March 21, 2010 at 9:40 pm

I don’t always order the exact same thing (…probably because I always special order and am picky when I eat out) but I somehow always get put at the same table. It’s almost eerie. Do you have table/seating preferences in restaurants?

    • Fitnessista on March 21, 2010 at 9:42 pm

that’s so funny! i kind of like sitting at the same table in restaurants
what do you mean by seating preferences??

  31. Ashley on March 21, 2010 at 10:22 pm

Ah, you must be one that can read in the car. I’d get motion sickness from hell trying to find lines to erase!

  32. Ellen on March 21, 2010 at 10:39 pm

Mmm, hummus makes everything better! Your wrap and veggie chips looked yummy 🙂 I blogged about my first zumba class today. It was fun, but I can’t totally decide if it’s something I’ll put into my regualr workout routine…I think I need a few more classes to really get it down!

I’m excited for the AM post!

  34. Andrea (Fit Healthy Fun) on March 22, 2010 at 7:35 am

I constantly order the same thing in restaurants. It’s totally fine. If it ain’t broke,,,

More importantly, I MUST know where that adorable yoga tee comes from! I am a hot yoga addict and must have one! Please share 🙂

Can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store for the a.m.!

  35. K from ksgoodeats on March 22, 2010 at 7:58 am

What a delicious wrap! I can’t believe she asked if you wanted hummus – everything just NEEDS hummus in the blogworld 😉

Can’t wait to see what you’re going to post about! Glad you had a great weekend – for the record, I don’t do the whole highway/semi/rain thing either!
